    Spanx and Corsets

My compression wear isn't super tight, it just holds everything in while I'm working out. Perhaps try out the corset, but take it off it's causing pressure or pain on the incisions.

    Pocket Protein

@@Rocky1 what proteins are you using?
  3. I think the 3 hours time frame includes time spent in recovery. IIRC that was the time to give family and friends so they could visit in your room or call. I think the 1 -2 hour time frame is pretty much the norm unless you are having multiple procedures or complications.
  4. I wasn't able to drink more than that at discharge. In fact it probably took me at least a week to even get 40 ounces in. It may be as one poster mentioned you body trying to do double duty and fight the H pylori and heal.

    Pocket Protein

I never heard of this so I googled. It appears to be a new brand on the market. Apparently there is a mens version that has 20gms of protein. However the consistency sounds similar to the Prosource no carb. The Prosource worked best for me when I thinned it out or got the unflavored and added it to Soups.
  6. @lily0327 - Another easy (and cheaper) option to buying new dishes is to just eat off the salad plates instead of the dinner plates.
  7. I've got a variety of water bottles. One I really like is the Rubbermaid shaker bottle. I take this one to the gym. It fits perfectly in the side pocket of my back pack. No straw and I like that the drink spout is screw top. I have the camelback bite tip bottle, but I would hold off for at least the first 30 days with using any type of straw. I also have a hydracoach water bottle that I only recently started using again. Give yourself at least that first 30 days. Your body is adjusting to a lot during that period and if you are one having trouble with residual gas from surgery or nausea I think even a small about of air from using a straw could be a problem.

    Immunity Changes?

I don't know if this counts, but I have severe food allergies and chronic urticaria. I was having pretty severe full body breakouts at least once a week that were really itchy and painful. I don't know if it's a changed immunity or a result of such a limited diet, but I've had one very mild outbreak since surgery and that was just my lips being swollen for a few hours.

    Spanx and Corsets

I returned to the gym around 2½ weeks. I started wearing compression pants and tops. I only wear spanx for dressy look and have never worn a corset.

    Constipation

I was started on colace stool softener in the hospital & for 30 days post-op. I had my first BM 2 days after discharge and will they are sometimes small, I go daily. I was also really regular pre-op. Check with your doctor first, but you could try: stool softeners like colace,Fiber additives like benefiber or miralax, foods like prune juice or teas like smooth move. It really becomes a matter of trial and error to see what your body responds to. Also drinking as much Water as possible may help.
  11. So sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. Hopefully things will right themselves soon.
  12. I don't grind my own, but I only buy natural brands. If you read the ingredients list it should only say peanuts or sometimes peanuts, oil and/or salt. I also like almond and other nut butters. I don't seat the amount of fat, because I'm never eating more than a tsp of it.

    Qualifying comorbidities....seriously?!?

I thought it was evident that the post was in jest. Premature death as a qualifier for surgery would be a bit of an oxymoron, no? It wasn't laughing at any particular poster.
  14. Serious coffee addict here. I've got a coffee grinder, a french press, a keruig and a few other coffee makers. The better blends are better, but I can always tell decaf. HOWEVER I was more than willing to give it up for a few weeks in order to have a better outcome.

    Protein !:-(

If you are on full liquids you can have it. If it feels too thick blend it into a shake by thinning it down with no fat or low fat milk. You can add a tiny bit of fruit or low sugar flavorings. I was able to have it immediately. Check with your nutritionist to make sure it's okay.
  16. There's no concern with decaf. In fact my nutritionist encouraged die hard coffee drinkers to switch over to decaffeinated coffees and teas.
  17. I'd love to be able to import my own background picture for the ticker.

    Bad habit

Since you'v already identified a trigger, why not think up alternatives to do instead of eating. Even if you have to type or write them out and stick them on the fridge as a reminder. It could be really simple: If I am bored I will: Take a walk Read a book Drink 8 ounces of Water Those are just examples, but if you don't replace old habits with new you will fall back into that vicious cycle. Instead of kicking yourself come up with a better coping mechanism.
  19. There are a zillion other ways to get your Protein. You can try Liquid Protein, unflavored powders that you can mix into Soups, or protein waters. My advice is to buy a bunch of single serving until you find a few you like. I did a variety in order to be able to switch up. In addition to Walmart, try Rite Aid/CVS, Vitamin Shoppe or GNC, even Amazon will have several varieties. Online their is Isopure and Prosource no carb. Just make sure whatever you get is high protein, low carb, and low sugar. Oh yeah NO SMOKING!!! It's not good for you to begin with and could impede your healing.

    Qualifying comorbidities....seriously?!?

I get that, but who's performing surgery on a corpse?
  21. Line in the sand. "I don't care to have this discussion." Make it your mantra. Don't argue, don't fight, just simply say that every time she ask until she wears herself out or gives up in frustration. That's where I'm at with my mother. I just tell her, "I'm not talking about my weight with you."
  22. Oh I had one of those. My mother's friend wanted to call me because she bypass surgery years ago. I simply said "No thanks". She looked a little surprised, but I just ignored it and changed the subject to something more neutral.
  23. It just your body adjusting to all the changes. Step away from the scale & stick to your program

    Post op nutrition

I would probably pick out the potatoes but I would definitely puree the soup. I fact I did just that but I had tofu instead of beef. The tofu was soft so I just diced that into smaller pieces.

    Dark chocolate

I love chocolate. I've had some and done okay. *Had some delicious Vosges dark chocolate with sea salt.* I would stay away from any foods you can't eat without bingeing.
