  1. Sounds to me like pudding would be in that group with drinkable yogurt and things. I just focused on getting in water and protein. I don't think I hit either goal week 1. I didn't hit them until week 2.
  2. It's early days yet. Are you drinking 60 ounces of water and getting in 60 gms of protein? It took me weeks to work up to that. As long as you aren't gaining just be patient and give your body time to adjust.

    Clear liquids

No. Clear juice means just that, they are clear. You should be able to see through them. White grape and apple juices are considered clear juices. Orange & grapefuit juices are not. However white grape & apple juices are naturally sweet and should always be diluted. If you are unsure consult with your nutritionist. Some do not want people drinking apple or white grape prior to surgery. FYI - I don't drink the Simply brand because their juices are much more processed than their commercials would lead you to believe.
  4. Everyone is different. Some people experience hair loss and others don't. It's said that not getting enough Protein can cause hair loss, but there are other factors such as age, genetics and hormones that also come into play.
  5. Depends on your doctor's protocol. If your doctor has you on full liquids then yes.

Ditto. They were just as enthused with my 6lb weight loss as my 26lb loss. I am extremely pleased with my team. I just wish people would call medical staff on their BS. Don't allow anyone to make you feel bad. This is challenging enough.

Pain in the middle of my rib cage

Try taking it first thing in the morning at least 30 mins to an hour before you eat.

    Blob support/girdles ?

I bought a few pairs of compression yoga pants. Both Old Navy and Lane Bryants sell them for a reasonable price. They are high waisted and really comfortable. I also have a pair of no name high waited body shaper panty like things. I think the higher waist helps keep them from rolling.

    Fatty Liver

In addition to what @@Elode said the concern for WLS is that a fatty liver can get in the way. Especially if your doctor is doing surgery laproscopically. My doctor said it is rare but he had had to turn away a patient on the table when the liver is too fatty. I didn't do Atkins since I wasn't required to do a pre-op diet but since they did suggest we begin cutting back. I just started reducing my calories, increasing my Protein intake and watching my fat & carbs.
  10. I'll be 3 mths out on the 18th. Early on I did a mix of powders, liquid Protein and premade shakes. Since I was told I can eat anything I can handle, I just focus on protein first, then veg. I also try to avoid simple, white carbs. One thing that has been helpful to me from day 1 is greek yogurt. I prefer FAGE 0%. half a cup or 4 ounces is 12 gms of protein. Add a scoop of my whey powder (CVS brand chocolate whey) at 26gms of protein. That's Breakfast and I've gotten in 38gms of protein. That's more than half of 60 at breakfast. If I need to thin it out, add 3 or 4 ounces of Water or ice and blend it. Add some lowfat milk or non dairy milk to blend it and get a few more gms of protein. Add a half a tbsp of almond or nut butter and get even more protein. I then split the rest of the day with getting the rest of my protein in through regular eating Some popular items are Beans, hummus, eggs, low fat cheese, etc... Some times in the evenings if I have met my protein goal I might just sip on vegetable broth.

Are you taking an anti-acid?? It could heartburn or reflux.

    Tried Something New

Just googled. They make 3 varieties. it's the Muscle Builder that has 30gms of Protein. The Muscle Recovery has 20 and the Lean Recovery has 17. The difference seem to be changes in the amount of fat/sugars and total calories each one contains. I may try one if I see them in the store.

Report them. I don't tolerate being treated rudely under any circumstances. Most hospitals have feedback forms. Many can be completed on line. Make sure you complete it ASAP.

    Spicy Food

When I say I like spicy, I like really spicy. I don't eat Wendy's because I don'e eat meat, but I used to add cayenne pepper to my salads and put sriracha on my potatoes. In fact I put sriracha on EVERYTHING prior to surgery. I started out adding just a few drops to my soups. I'm still not full on hot & spicy, but I can use beloved pepper sauce again.

    Support group meetin

My program requires attending an informational seminar before you can even schedule a appointment with the surgeon and at least one support group meeting before they will schedule your surgery. I haven't made one since post op, but I'm going to try and make one this week. The seminar meetings are separate from the post op meetings.Which I like, but at the end of the seminar they usually have a few post op vets stop in and speak.
  16. You have to practice mindful eating. You said you ate your toddler's sandwich without even thinking about it. That's the mental game we have to relearn. We can't eat without thinking about it. Perhaps time your protein drink or meal to coordinate with when you feed your toddler. Then if they don't finish it will help you to remember what you should be eating (protein first, then veggies).
  17. I see many post similar to this and it makes me sad. Please keep in mind that for every person posting their dramatic & rapid weight loss, there are just as many doing the slow & steady weight loss. Just remember prior to the surgery most of us would have lost this much weight in 3 months at all. As long as that scale is moving in the right direction, you are fine.

Hang in there! Do the best that you can do ensure a positive outcome and then just let go.
  19. Congratulations! I hope to see myself having successful anniversaries like yours!

    Clear liquids

Yes but it's high in sugar. Dilute it.

Agreed - That's my point in all of this. Don't avoid your doctor or bariatric team. Make them work for you. When they tell you they want you at a specific goal, make sure they also show you how to get there.
  22. All you can do is prepare yourself to be in the best possible shape for the surgery. Exercise, follow a sensible diet or if your doctor wants you on a pre-op diet, follow that. If you are drinking caffeine or soda, work on getting off that. Also know that there are some of us who had no complications. No pain, no gas, no nausea, clots or leaks. Make it your goal to be among those folks.

    Spicy Food

I would test the waters and see. I am a spicy food lover as well. I was sleeved in September and started adding spicy back around 6 weeks post op. I was cautious and didn't go as spicy as I usually do but so far I'm okay.

    6 Weeks Out

With shell? That sounds like a lot. It's good that you didn't get sick, but I don't understand why you would want to eat a taco shell. It full of processed carbs and grease. Isn't that counter productive to why you had the surgery in the first place?

@@CheleLynn45 - My doctor is similar. It's why I like that there is a team approach with this program. For example I had to have a PIC-line put in because they couldn't get a vein for the IV. I am allergic to latex. They told me they were going to use latex free products, but b the time I got home, my entire shoulder was one big itchy rash. No painful but itching. The doctor just said "that sometimes happens". The PA took the time to explain that even with latex free bandages the glue itself contains a small amount of latex. Thankfully they had arranged a visiting nurse for me when I was discharged so she had already told me to get some hydro-cortisone cream for the itch. To the OP, perhaps ask if you can talk to the nutritionist and have her review what you are eating so you can get closer to the the doctor's recommended weight loss target.
