  1. Actually it's NSAIDs such as aspirin, Celebrex, Motrin, Indocin, Toradol, Aleve, and Naprosyn that are no-no's. Benedryl is perfectly okay to use. @@Stevehud - It sounds like you are getting enough fluids in, it may just be a reaction to the surgery and your body adjusting. If you can make it through today, touch base with your medical team in the morning and see what they think.

    I'm hungry... Help!

Everyone is different. I was not hungry when I woke up. I've never heard about not craving. Cravings are equal parts mental and physical so it is possible to not be hungry AND have cravings. As your doctor to prescribe something for the acid. I was started on omeprazole in the hospital which helped a lot. My Protein Shakes fill me up. Perhaps try adding some greek yogurt to help fill you. I use FAGE 0%. It's a great protein boost as well. Holiday food? Meh. However if you must, perhaps figuring out healthier versions of holiday food would help. It's not a magic wand, it's a tool. You have to do the work of learning new and healthier eating habits.

    Let's talk activity trackers...

The polar loop also monitors sleep activity breaking it down into light/deep, etc... It does it automatically, whereas I have to tell the vivosmart I am going to sleep.
  4. You really do have to find something that works for you. Are they prescribing iron supplements?
  5. My program recommends people take 2 - 4 weeks off for just that very reason. Most people feel pretty good after the first week but it's getting used to the protein drinks and getting in the fluids. Depending on the type of work you do finding a workable schedule for the eating/drinking make be a bit of a challenge and they want people to be comfortable with that before they return to work.
  6. Yes you can eat healthy at a take out place. I can get steam tofu and and broccoli from my corner store Chinese take out. ask for the sauce on the side and it's a winner. Even my local pizza place makes a really great garden salad that comes with a hard boiled egg. If you eat meat you get frilled chicken breast on it. Request oil & vinegar instead of dressing, hold the croutons and you're good to go. HOWEVER OP wants to know what to order at a restaurant. So the recommendations for places like Panera and iHop are very helpful. It's about learning to make good choices. Just keep in mind Protein, then veg always.
  7. Glad to hear things are getting better! Sounds like your body just needed a few days to adjust after the surgery.
  8. In my pre sleeve days I was able to to loose successfully by slowly making lifestyle changes. Foe example I haven't had a soda in over 4 years so that was one less change to make. I stopped using bottled salad dressings so I can still eat a salad now albeit a smaller one than I used to make. I was used to drinking Water so that's been less of a challenge. I started making myself eat on a regular basis and stopped skipping Breakfast and I was taking a multi-Vitamin. Now that I am not getting sick as much with the aid of the sleeve, I am hopeful that I can continue losing and experience another set back because of illness. I keep a food diary at Myfitnesspal. It's not for everyone but it works for me. For me the key is not to fret over calories but to look at the macros. I don't do l no carb. I limit white, processed carbs such as refined sugars, pastas and rice. I do indulge in carbs from Beans & vegetables. I watch my fats and again, try to make sure that my fats are coming from healthy sources. Same with my sodium and sugars. Does this mean I never have a plate of spaghetti again? No, it just means that it's a dish I have occasionally instead of regularly. Additionally for me as a person who has suffered with severe food allergies a food diary helps me track potential allergy triggers.

I my goodness no, you can;t eat a whole can. Just a few and it better be on a gym day where you stand a chance at burning that fat. I like the Blue Diamond Wasabi almonds, but yes they are high in sodium. I have to balance that out carefully with everything else I eat that day. I usually leave that can in the car for emergencies.
  10. I think some people aren't comfortable with using the tickers and/or filling out all the demographic info. Even here on a forum full of fatties and ex-fatties I think some people are embarrassed to put down how much they weigh. The flip side is that some people may not be as tech savvy and are unaware of how to click on the various tabs to complete the profiles. BTW- for those of you who post primarily from your smartphones, if you go to your internet browsers and use the full version of the site instead of the mobile app, you can do everything you would on a regular computer.

    Let's talk activity trackers...

I see you looked it up, but for the benefit of others reading this, it depends on how old the HRM is. I LOVED the loop and hope they resolve the shirt battery life issue. That and the fact that MFP doesn't sync with it are the 2 biggest drawbacks. I'm Milaxx. I haven't added any connections yet so this will be nice!
  12. I was warned from the beginning that it is possible to stretch your sleeve. I was also warned that you need to follow the diet and again, it's only a tool. I knew it wasn't a magic wand to remove all my cravings and bad habits. That's the work I have to do. I attended my hospital's support group meeting yesterday and one of the things I emphasized to the group was purchase a variety of Protein drinks in order to compact the palette fatigue you get from drinking sweet all the time. At my f/u appointment on Friday I shared with my nutritionist how I'm learning self control. I have indeed had chocolate. The difference is I eat a tiny bit and stop now. A Hershey's kiss will satisfy that craving so I don't need and entire bag. I've never had a metallic taste or bad breath. I like cooking so I'm constantly creating and trying new recipes. Big old dirty Chinese was never my thing. I miss my giant, crispy and actually healthy salad but I'm okay with my smaller one. I think it's important to view this positively and not, "I'm happy but..." There is nothing I miss more than how I am doing now. Not one single thing.

I did the same thing with some macadamia nuts my sister bought me back from Hawaii. I just had to be careful because of the high fat content.
  14. I'm not sure why you would even try, but it's not good for you. The surgery is but a tool, we have to train ourselves to learn new habits. For some of us that may mean counseling to handle food addictions. I would recommend tossing that noodle dish and anything else in the house that you have no self control over. Stick to your recommended eating plan.
  15. It's typically a 3 -6 mth process through insurance. The exceptions are typically when people have so many co-morbities that the surgeons help push things through. The other option is self pay and they go through because they are paying. You can still qualify without the BMI if you have other factors, but the first step is to find and attend an informational seminar in your area. If there isn't one then I would recommend contacting a few programs in your area and asking questions. When looking for insurances most have websites that lay out what their plans cover online. You can look them up for yourself.
  16. Have you replaced or added any new and healthier habits? Are you working out regularly? Have you considered counseling for your food addiction? I would think those things are key.
  17. OP didn't say she ordered out she asked what to eat when out. I'm assuming she's referring to order out at restaurants.
  18. Do you see the incision sites on your belly? You've had surgery. Relax and slow down your drinking even though you don't feel the restriction just yet. It's for your own good.

    Protein!

I liked prosource unflavored, but I like mixing the flavored powders with plain greek yogurt. One cup (8ounces) of FAGE 0% plain greek yogurt is 18gms of Protein, If I add CV whey powder I get another 26gms of protein.

    Kind of a werid question

And those products aren't guaranteed to work. I worked as a caseworker and had clients that used them and still came up hot.
  21. Your program doesn't offer any support groups? If you type in support groups in the search box located in the upper right corner you may be able to find one near you.
  22. I need to look up which is better for my vegan/vegetarian friends. Tofurky versus Field roast.
  23. Definitely check with the doctor. The only time I vomited was when I tried a piece of ice too large a few hours after surgery. Other than that I have tolerated everything. I hope you feel better tomorrow. Keep us posted.

    One Week Post OP

Call your doctor. It should not be that painful. He may be able to prescribe you something for the spasms. If jello is not sitting well with your sleeve, try something else. Call your doctor or nutritionist. Every program has a different protocol. My program provides a handbook that covers everything from pre to post op for up to a year out. However some programs want pts. on Clear liquids post-op, others allow full liquids. The time periods vary as well. I did 2 weeks full liquids, then purees, then soft foods, then regular food as tolerated. I was advised to remember to separate the Calcium Citrate and Vitamin D3 since they cancel each other out. Others are only advised to take a multi vitamin. If you are unsure you need to contact your program and have them clarify.
