Not a great Surgiversary at all

You can beat this! I'm happy to hear you've finally admitted you have a problem and are taking positive steps to deal with it. Regardless of whether or not your ex does or doesn't even respond, it's important that you be the best YOU! Wishing you well and sending positive vibes your way!

    Post-OP Liquid Diet Phase

I mixed veg broth with unflavored Protein and pureed Beans and mixed with veg broth for a sort of soup. I also ate a lot of FAGE 0% greek yogurt. I would do a shake in the morning that I added whey protein to. The combination of the Protein powder and the yogurt was over half my protein for the day. I would then do another Protein Shake or more greek yogurt at lunch and could usually do a pureed veg or bean soup in the evening. Another thing I would do is have the orange creme Liquid Protein in a cup of herbal tea for Breakfast, again do the whey powder/yogurt for lunch. Then have the pureed veg or bean soup in the evening. My goal just became to get in my protein by lunch so I could have something svory in the evening.

    Allergic reaction to tape

I didn't have staples and the steri strips fell off before I got a rash. I only had them on my arm where they tried to get an IV started and on my neck and face because I ended up getting a PICC line instead. If it's a reaction to the tape it shouldn't spread. It will just be where the tape was.

    Blood Thinners

I had none. My doctor had me get an IVC filter instead.
  5. When they give you your date ask you team if there is anything they recommend you get pre-op.
  6. My doctor does Upper GI instead of the EGD. Not colonoscopies at all. I'm 51. My MGF had colon cancer when he passes but he was 102 and dying when it was discovered. Perhaps it's more related to family history?

    Allergic reaction to tape

Me! I am allergic to latex and even if the hospital uses latex free bandages there is a small amount of latex in the glue. I used hydrocortisone cream. It took a while ( maybe a week or so) but it eventually went away.

    Intake "normal" for 4 weeks?

I think both menus looks fine. I try to keep my carbs around 40-50 but I don't sweat it since they almost all come from complex carbs like veg and beans. Are either of you exercising? I find I can go a little higher in carbs on my workout days. I'm at 3 mths and my nutritionist still wants me to stay under 800 calories.
  9. No one can do this for you. You have to work for it. I didn't have a pre-op diet. Talk to your doctor or nutritionist . Perhaps since you're only at month 2 they will let you reset the clock. It may put you back a month or so but it might increase the likelihood of you getting approved.
  10. LOL Touche. ' Point still stands Complex carbs >>> than simple carbs . Also a big difference between an occasional treat and daily intake, especially if it's a challenge to get in your Protein and Water.
  11. @@tomi71 Carbs give you energy. I just prefer not to eat overly processed foods like special low carb bread. I eat complex carbs instead. it's just a personal preference.
  12. This may be hard to grasp but your are really eating tiny portions. However you are not hungry and you don't feel deprived. What I think you may have trouble with is the mental part. Like I posted earlier small portions will be your new normal. Has your medical team given you any ideas about sample menus or what your return to eating will be like? Everyone's team does it differently. I was full liquids, then pureed foods, then soft foods then regular food as tolerates. The full liquid stage was 2 weeks long. Most teams want patients getting most if not all of their Protein from food. The goal is 60gms of protein and 64ounces of fluids a day. Trying to eat like you used to pre-sleeve is a set up for failure. You have to work with the tool. It is not a magic wand that will do all the work for you. I can eat one Hershey's kiss and be satisfied. Other's can't. Still others have no taste for it any more. They simply no longer want it. If the mental issues are too much, then it may be wise to seek out counseling for food addiction to help you make better use of the surgery. I think this concept is hard for people with lifelong food addictions to grasp until they actually have the surgery. All of these concerns would be better addressed by your nutritionist & medical team so they can better assist you.

    Any advice?

If you are on water pills you need to replace not just fluids but electrolytes and minerals. Try a tiny bit like maybe ¼ of a mashed banana, or drink either coconut water or gatorade.
  14. Why would you waste precious real estate and take in empty calories like bread of any sort?
  15. My team actually calls it a sleeve.
  16. Consider this the new normal. To be successful this will be your new portion size.
  17. I was up and walking in recovery as well. They laughed at me cause I had to pee so they wheeled me to the bathroom door and I practically ran to the toilet. I wanted to go home after one day but my doc kept me for 2. I don't think we're necessarily the norm but I think those who have an easy time of it don't post as much.

    Juicing low carb veggies?

I prefer nutra bullet or similar products. When you juice you loose all that fiber which is one of the benefits of fruits and veg. To me without the fiber all that natural sugar you are drinking in isn't worth it.

    Pennsylvania sleevers?

@@justcallitsugar - I have to see what my schedule is like. I know the nutritionist like to have a few post ops attend to share their experiences. I'll try to make it.

    Lifting

I had a 2 week post op appt and was cleared then based on how well I was doing. However I can't see you to check you out or see how your incisions are healing. This is a question for your doctor.
  21. Just relax and follow the program. Don't worry about scales or how much weight everyone else is losing or has loss.

    I want to...

I want to sit comfortably in a regular chair WITH arms.
  23. You're weighing yourself too much and it's driving you nuts. You weight can fluctuate depending on time of day, hormones, whether you've had a BM or not. If you must weigh yourself do it no more than once a week, at the same time and in the same location. Otherwise ignore the scale and focus on working your program.
  24. I did some searching after this post. Isopure seems to get really good reviews on both Vitamin Shoppe & GNC and says it can be mixed with either hot or cold foods. I may try it once I run out of what I currently have.
