Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
BLERDgirl replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think your just reaching now. If your daughter'so job canceled the insurance they either had a piece of crap plan or decided it was cheaper to pay the fine and encourage the employees to purchase insurance under the Affordable Healthcare Act instead. People have WLS for a variety of reasons. Even those who are 50lbs overweight. It's simply none of your business. It could be a young woman with PCOS, it could be someone who is 4'11". Coulda, woulda , shoulda. It's simply not our place to judge. -
I have to read labels on EVERYTHING. My allergies and sensitivities make it mandatory. I even carry a magnifying glass to the supermarket with me. One thing I have to be careful of is when a label says "No artificial sugars" Often that means a product is sweetened with stevia which is a plant. However, I am allergic to stevia. I also try to stay away from any label that reads like a science product.

I agree. In addition to my workout compression wear I have few body shapers that help me look better in clothes. I wear a lot of dresses so my favorite is this long slip. I prefer this over the ones that come to just above the knee and always manage to roll up.

Just keep in mind the all liquid phase is very short. I have noticed that some people get the chills during that phase. I wonder if it is the body trying to adjust to all the changes. If you can hang in there hopefully things will get better.

They are cooked but cooked soft. Everyone is different but I make mine by mixing one egg with ½tsp of plain 0% greek yogurt and a tiny bit of shredded cheddar cheese. I then keep stirring them while they are cooking until they almost reach a firm custard stage. I cant emphasize this enough: EAT SLOWLY

You said it yourself. You aren't following the program. That's why you aren't losing. If you don't like your nutritionist then Google baritric sleeve diets and follow that. Get some form of exercise daily. Start keeping a food log at least for a few months until you get the grazing & nibbling under control. All your urgent bad habits are why you aren't losing.

BLERDgirl replied to galadriel535's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was started on colace & omeprazole in the hospital. I had my first BM 2 days after I came home. I passed gas like crazy the day after I came home. For some walking helps move the gas along. -
I wasn't on clear liquids pre-op

Are you able to get in your fluids & protein? You might want to call your doctor. -

I have locs and watching them daily is just out of the question. Not only would it be drying & damaging, I'd run the risk of getting mildew in them. I picked up a sweat wicking head band and either add a bandanna or a loc sock to it. I may also dab a bit of tea tree oil on my scalp with a cotton ball and then hit my roots with the blow dryer on a low setting. It keep my locs from getting smelly without drying out my hair. -
Things people don't seem to talk about...
BLERDgirl replied to April4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with @ProjectMe. I too did my research. I've also have friends die from bypass and one friend who has chronic problems due to not getting enough nutrients. On the other hand I also have a few friends who are perfectly fine. I did my homework and was aware of the pros and cons when I made my decision. I then made sure to follow all of my doctors orders. However I find this board to be very vocal with posting about things gone wrong. If I had found this forum pre-op I think it would have scared me silly. When I went to my support group I didn't even name this site because I didn't want to encourage newbies to read some of the stories shared here. I wanted people to know it's not all pain and suffering. many were shocked when I said I had no gas pains. I just think it would be nice to hear more about the positive tales. -
I only had that food stuck in the throat/chest once. It was after eating some macadamia nuts I think were too fatty for my sleeve. I spent the night drinking warm water, took my omeprazole and 2 tums chewables. It took a good 6 hours to go away. Since then I've been careful with what I eat and eating really slow and so far that feeling hasn't returned.

Suggestion for Dehydration
BLERDgirl replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Definitely try and get some fluids in. Pedialyte, water, coconut water, diluted juice whatever you can -
Is it warm to touch? Almost as if the bum has a fever? If not the bump may just be scar tissue. If yes it may be an abscess. I had an abscess when I had my hysterectomy.

Caffeine allowed during pre-op diet?
BLERDgirl replied to hdd55146's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure about that because of the dyes in it. You might want to ask your nutritionist about that one. -
My doc gradually increased the calorie limits it started at 400-600 them 600-800 then 800-1000 and maintenance is expected to be 1200-1600. Like the scale and weighing oneself I think calorie limits need to be approached with caution. Some people get too obsessed with it and lose focus of getting proper nutrition. I hoover around 800 ish. Some days lower, some days higher.

I have. I bought yoga pants & a top from Lane Bryant and a few pairs of pants from Old Navy. I don't know if it helps but it keeps me from feeling all jiggly as I lose.

What is your diet? Are you doing soft foods or purées? Does your nutritionist or doctor want you using Protein shakes? Are you able to get any exercise yet? I agree with others, leave the scale alone. Have a little more patience. It will happen.

I think the insurance date is a tentative or targeted date because they have to submit to the insurance company with a date The actual date usually varies depending on when you fulfill all your program requirements.

It goes away eventually.

Philadelphia, Pa (Germantown) I also had doctor Williams at UPenn. Love him! DO any of you Philly/Dr. Williams people attend the support groups? They are always looking for successful post-ops to share their experiences. I like going to the Presby meetings since parking is free. -

An activity tracker can be helpful. There are currently loads on the market so you just have to do some checking to see which one best meets your own personal needs. -
What can I eat in the puree phase?
BLERDgirl replied to Sexy Granni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist said it was okay, but I never did. I think she was talking abut the whole meat ones though. I'd have to double check to be certain.
