    BMI, attention from men, etc

They weight you just like you get weighed at any other doctor's appointment. Nurse brings you back, checks your BP and then has you step on the scale. As for unwanted attention, I've never heard of people suddenly being accosted due to weight loss. Some people may feel more confident and outgoing but WLS isn't turning frogs into princes. More importantly you need to relearn how to eat and drink. When you go for your prescreening take notes regarding that. It will make you more likely to be successful post op

    Excess Gas

You need to walk around and get it all out. Also when sitting doe arm raise as if you are lifting dumbbells at the gym. I had one day of flatulence when I first came home and then I was fine, but boy was it a gassy day! I think I even offended the cat.
  3. I have no idea what this means.

    I want to give up

A few things: 1) If you are unclear on what the doctor or nurse has said, you need to tell them that. It is their job to make sure you understand. Ask them for specific examples. 2.) The folks here have posted some suggestions but you have to try. I did some things in the nutra bullet, but mostly I made things up according to my taste buds. My handbook sites examples such as a soft scrambled egg for breakfast., a Protein shake mid morning, 4 tbsp. of tuna fish for lunch, 4 tbsp of chicken for dinner and a shake in the evening. Here's how I make my soft scrambled egg: I take 1 egg, tsp of plain greek yogurt (I use Fage 0%), I whip that together and top it with a bit of shredded cheddar. I either cook it on the stove in no stick pan stirring constantly or I pop i in the microwave for 1 minute. If microwaving it will be a bit under done when you take it out. Stir it together and pop it back in for another 10 seconds then chec to bring out and stir again. You want all of your food at this stage to be fairly moist. You might add some broth to any meats you puree. If they are too dry they may be difficult to swallow and digest.

    I want to give up

Have you talked to your nutritionist or doctor? The basic rule of thumb is Protein first. The goal is 60+gms of protein a day plus 48-64 ounces of fluids. You should not be living off of applesauce. Call your nutritionist first thing Monday and express your concerns.
  6. My BMI is over 60 and I have lost weight. I'm 3½ months out and as of 12/19 I've lost 48lbs
  7. You will develop a new normal and even better you will learn to socialize with food and not overeat. I eat anywhere from a ¼ to a cup at most but I am completely satisfied. I've been out to eat several times since being sleeved. The only things that changed is I no longer drink with my meals and I always have a doggy bag. Believe it or not we never ate like a normal person. We overate. For me the sleeve helps me manage on a much smaller portion. I can't speak for lap band, but sleever and bypass all aim for Protein first then veg.

Just got approved-Bad anxiety and questions

There is a patch called EMLA you can ask for. It must be applied to the area at least 30 minute before. However if you get really anxious they can give you something to relax in pre-op. The easiest thing is to learn how to manage your anxiety now. Practice making slow, even breathes. Look away if you must. Ask the nurse to count down to 3. On 3 breath out slowly and evenly. As long as you can stay relaxed you shouldn't feel much more than a tiny pinch. As for your boobs and butt, yes we loose all over. However, if you are good about exercising you can still look proportioned and toned. I was approved before I finished all my testing. I think I still had to take my PFT, my nutrition class and sleep study when I received the letter.

    Carbs carbs carbs

@@queensleever05 - No I didn't. I used CVS whey Protein, Prosource no carb liquid Protein and Orgain organics RTD & powder form. I'm vegetarian so I still do some dairy like yogurt and cheeses, but I don't eat any animal flesh.

    Carbs carbs carbs

I'm vegetarian. I do low carb, I do not do no carb. Instead I look for complex carbs and avoid processed, "white carbs" that you get from breads, pastas and rice. I try to eat whole foods as much as possible.
  14. I agree, it sounds doable. I started at close to your weight and my expectation is 2 years as well.
  15. I was told not to chew gum as it brings air in our tummy's and can cause painful gas. As for the bit you swallowed; this too will pass.
  16. Sleeved 9/18 and feeling great! Glad you are doing well.
  17. Besides the mandated diet there will be all sorts of testing. You also need this time to learn to each slow and how to separate eating and drinking by 30 mins. It's harder than it sounds and many folks make themselves sick or in pain by not eating slow enough. April will be here before you know it.

    How much protein/sugar to eat

Is that each meal or per 60gms of protein?

week 1 post op weight loss...

Yes between the surgery and being on reduced or liquid diets pre-op it is entirely possible. At my 2 week f/u I was 26lb lighter than DOS.
  20. Some people experience stomach spasms. If you think you are having that your doctor can prescribe something for it. Mostly just try to rest and gets your fluids in.

    Premier Protein

I find them too sweet, but a lot of people here love them and use them.

    What's really going on here

I've been working out since week 3. I find it gives me energy. My advice would be track what you eat to make sure you are meeting your Protein requirements before adding cracker, veg & fruit. I make sure to get in my 60+gm of protein and 64 ounces of fluids daily. Between that and working out regularly I feel more energized than I have in a long time and I am rarely hungry other than when it's time to eat. The other thing I would advice is to step away from the scale. It will make you nuts. I only weigh myself once a month at the doctors. However, if you just weigh at home, do it no more than once a week at the same time of day. That said, if you are on track then look for other NSV's. Take your measurements and compare.
  23. I was on full liquids from day 1. Each stage was 2 weeks for me. 2 weeks full liquids, then 2 weeks purees, then 2 weeks soft foods, then regular food as tolerated.

    4 months post op

Sounds like you need to call your doctor/bariatric team. How much are you eating a day? Do you keep a journal? 3 ½ months out and other than a morning shake I am on regular food. I wouldn't want to go back to all liquids for anything in the world. I haven't experienced depression but I understand it is not uncommon. Talk to your team about how you are feeling. While medication should only be a last resort, please do not rule it out. Please do not wait for your 6 mths f/u. If you are struggling, reach out.
