I started at a 4x and was creeping up on 5's. I now wear a 1x and I pinch myself every time. I haven't been in that size in over 10 years! Things like this remind me that no matter how long it takes, this was the right thing for me.

    Rice?

Not exactly you can have brown or black rice in limited quantities. Black rice also contains Protein as well as all that good Fiber.

    Ice cream?

I wouldn't recommend it at 4 week post op. I don't think I had ice cream of any sort until I maybe 9mths post-op. Give the new eating a chance to kick in.

    BLACK FRIDAY WLS DEALS

GNC has buy one get one 50% off. Kohls is having a sale on fitbits. Go through ebates and earn $10 for signing up plus cash back. For smart phone users I recommend the Ibotta saving app. and get cash back on shopping at your favorite stores. I use several savings apps, including Target cartwheel, but this one give me the most cashback. Old Navy is having 50% off. Great time to stock up on workout clothes!
  5. If you are looking for less sweet, try an unflavored Protein powder. I use Isopure, others like unjury or Syntrax. It's 100% whey isolates and nothing else. 110 calories, 26 gms of protein per scoop. I add it to Soups, yogurts, sauces. I also used the Nocarb clear drinks. 160 calories in a 20 ounce bottle, 40gms of protein. I add mine to my Water so they aren't as sweet.
  6. Unless your nutritionist said otherwise, it's Fluid not Water that your are tracking. You do want to get in as much water as possible, but it's fluid that counts, so yes your Protein drinks count. However my rule of thumb is to drink enough water that my urine is pale yellow. Water helps with digestion and constipation. I literally carry a water bottle everywhere and when I am not eating, I'm sipping. As for calories, don't worry about them being low. We have plenty of fat reserves to burn. Focus on meeting your protein and fluid goals. If you are still unsure call your nutritionist and review your diet with them.
  7. At home. CVS brand vanilla. If I buy Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks coffee, I get it with no sugar and add Isopure unflavored. I use a small whisk and have never had any problems mixing powder with the hot beverage.

    Same old issues

@@Yaberhoo - I've done this too! Now a days cucumbers are my go to evening snack, but if I am genuinely hungry. a hard boiled egg does the trick.

Anyone have an over 50 BMI?

My BMI was 73 and I had a completely easy surgical and recovery process.
  10. I gave myself a non food related treat! I got my daith and helix piercings. Now I going shopping for some cool body jewelry.

Which kind of piercing supposedly helps headaches or depression? My doctor places temporary piercings in the ear (tragus) to help smokers quit.

The daith piercing is supposed to help with headaches. It's the one sort of inside the ear.

  11. Yep it's the dreaded 3 week stall. You aren't doing anything wrong. Your body is just adjusting to all the new changes. Continue meeting your Protein and Fluid goals. Try to get in some regular exercise. If the scale is making you crazy, put it away.

    Heartburn

I was prescribed omeprazole. I started at 20 mgs per day. Around month 3 I had to increase to 40 mgs. I also found it most helpful to take 2 -3 hours before. I would typically get it in the evenings, so taking it around 2 - 3 pm worked best for me. By month 6 I no longer needed it.
  13. BLERDgirl

    Just wondering.

Yes, but in moderation. I first had it again around 3 mths out. When I do have it I either air pop it or buy the skinny pop brand.

    Rice?

wow mine didn't say rice was a no no for ever I'll ask when I see her on Tuesday but I wouldn't be able to live without rice , and everyone it's talking about the cauliflower rice I need to try it It's not forever, but you will want to limit it since it's a processed carb. Cauliflower rice is a good substitute and if you add the same seasonings like you would when making rice & Beans would probably taste pretty good. However that's still probably nothing you should have until at least 6 weeks out.

    Rice?

Not at 7 days. Beans and rice will likely be one of the last things you can have. I know it's tough, but at 7 days post op there is very little holiday food you can partake of.

    Pain after surgery

That depends on you and varies person to person. I didn't have any post-op pain, just soreness. Others a few day, some a few weeks. One thing I know for sure is each day it gets better.

    Cheating

I try to avoid even using the word "cheating". it's a dieting mentality and I don't want to diet anymore. Its why I still food log. I plan for everything I put in my mouth. Tonight I planned for a small slice of pie and a cup of tea. That why I could have it without guilt or shame. Tomorrow I will have a glass of wine because I am going out. I will adjust my eating for the day accordingly. Cheating, binging and dieting are a thing of the past for me.

    Advice needed.

What type of struggle are you having? Throwing up, loss of appetite? If it's vomiting, is it certain foods or everything? Can you eat multiple small meals throughout the day? I would definitely start back with shakes and seek out medical assistance whether that be a gastroenterologist or a baritric specialist. Please keep us posted. I hope you can locate someone to help you.
  19. @@sbg224 - get some flax powder or psyllium powder. Add a tsp to yogurt, applesauce , etc... each day. Make sure you get all your fluids in. It will help regulate. Try to get some fesh veg or fruit in at least once a day.

    Incision scars

I was warned against putting anything other than warm Water on the incisions until they scabbed. Alcohol, peroxide and neosporin can actually retard healing. Once they scabbed I use scarfade gel because I tend to keloid. My scars were raised and red. The scarfade gel flattened them. After that I used bio oil because I had a free sample, but mostly I use virgin cold pressed coconut oil. Except for the large incision the rest are barely noticeable. I first used scarfade gel after I had facial shingles. It worked miracles. I had shingles in 2010. The dermatologist recommended this. I went from this to this I have a barely discernible scar on my nose. I swear by scarfade gel.

  23. Hang in there! This is prime losing time. Go for broth or non chunky soaps with a bit of unflavored protein powder. Months from now this period will feel like a distance memory.
  24. @@Angry Banana - sounds like you are doing fine. Some people do have issues with water. You can try varying the temperature and see if that helps.
