    Carbs

It depends on my day and the type of carbs. I try for complex carbs that come from my bean, dairy, veg & fruit. I limit or avoid white, simple carbs. I vary anywhere from 30 - 70. If I am excising 5 days a week and eating carbs I lose. If I workout less than 3 days a week without reducing carbs I don't lose.

    Serious food help.

Doing food prep doesn't mean eating the same thing all the time. This is my food prep on Sunday's. I boil 4 -6 eggs. Any fresh fruit I have I chop up and put in tupperware. Some weeks I'll cook up a small pot of quinoa. If it's a really busy week I make a few overnight oats in tupperware. I switch up the fruit I use. I typically already have bean already cooked and frozen or a few cans of low sodium Beans on hand. I make make half a dozen crustless quiche. I now have several different option to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner all set and ready to go. Prep takes no more than an hour and actual cooking time takes no more than 15 mins. I like to start my day with a Protein shake most of them can be assembled in my shaker bottle unless I am adding fresh fruit which I blend in my nutra bullet.

    Have you tried this broth?

@@laurenella82 - Thanks. I might have problems with the maltodextrin. It's another artificial sugar.
  5. I have not had any issues using fruit so maybe cutting out the fruit juice would work.

    Have you tried this broth?

Can you take a picture of the ingredients? Did they have any vegetarian friendly flavors?
  7. I think developing food allergies and sensitivities changed my thinking about food. I like good food and still enjoy going to restaurants but I know food can kill even when it taste good.
  8. Hi, mst of your questions can be found by doing a quick search on the forums, but here's my experience. Yes This improves with time as your tummy heals. I still have a Protein shake in the morning but I add greek yogurt to it. (FGAE 0% plain) This adds another 12 -18gms of protein and makes it easy to get in the rest of my protein throughout the day. It varies some loose a little, some loose a lot. I didn't have a pre-op diet, but I lost 26lbs from DOS to my first f/u appt. Hard to tell. My upper body is fine, but my thighs are jiggly. I'm not worried about it for now. I just wear compression and support tights & yoga pants.. Mine were big. I was a 48DD, I'm now a 46C Never had trouble sleeping from day 1. Normal and yes it goes away.

    BMI, attention from men, etc

Speak to your nutritionist. They will help you work out a plan on how to manage your diabetes on the liquid diet.
  10. On the MFP webpage you go to apps. I think (I don't have a fitbit) on fitbit you can go to sync and search for MFP. You're welcome. We're all just trying to share tips and help each other out.
  11. Let me add that I had no pain from the moment I woke up in recovery. NONE. No gas, no constipation, no nausea, nothing. I feel like I type this everyday, but I really want people to know that not everyone goes through pain.
  12. For me it was both. It was a weird feeling. Not pain, but it's like you felt the muscles trying to push the fluid down. The one time I vomited was when I was sucking on ice and too large a piece went down by mistake. They gave me those tiny medicine cups and it made sipping easier.

    Fluid intake

It's likely the tannin as much as the caffeine in traditional teas. Trying to drink as much plain Water as possible is not a bad thing. Most people have trouble because processed foods and additive change our palettes. They are used to sweet taste so water is difficult to drink. Once I stopped eating processed foods my taste for sweet changed and I was able to drink more water. Try a compromise. Drink half your water plain. Then with the other half dry adding 25% fruit juice like apple or white grape. Even try adding fruits and veg either with an infuser or allowing the to sit in the water overnight and then removing them.
  14. Keep a positive attitude! I had absolutely no pain. NOPE! I had none, nada, nein, zip, zero! It truly varies from person to person.
  15. I agree fake sugars aren't good for you and collagen is important for healthy hair/skin/nails. Personally I stick to plant based sources.

    I Want Soda ... BAD

I know soda addiction is a hard habit to break, but aren't we all trying to healthy, nit just skinny? Sodas weren't healthy pre-op, now we have to worry about the carbonation and extra fake sugars we just don't need. If we're looking to change our eating habits for better ones this is a chance to get rid of one more bad habit.
  17. I agree with @@Forsythia but my word of advice would be to be honest as possible when using MFP. I don't ever use the quick add calories because to me the macro nutrients are just as important. Especially if you are using prepackaged foods. Sure something might be low in calories, but if it's high in sodium you may not lose because of fluid retention. Looking at your macros will help you see those types of things.

    Gagging through protein shake

Yes. I used 3 different proteins. I used CVS whey protein powder, Orgain Organics RTD and Prosource no carb liquid protein both flavored and unflavored. It helped to have variety and the Prosource was one of the few that I could mix with warm drinks and soups.

Major reflux after Sleeve and herna repair

My doctor explained the possibility of reflux both at the informational seminar and pre-op. It's one of the reasons why he started me on omeprazole in the hospital. Thankfully my acid has not been too bad and is managed with meds. from what I understand it should decrease over time as your body adjust to the smaller tummy. You're pretty early out, perhaps call the doctor or nutritionist in the morning and brain storm some ways to better manage the reflux. Also try looking at what foods seem to trigger the reflux the most.

    Gum!

I was told it's not good for you as it can cause acid to build up. There's also certain schools of thought that believe the fake sugars in gum may actually cause greater weight gain than sugar by stimulating your appetite. Either way I don't chew gum.

    I give up

Having the doctor bill for the hernia repair and you pay for the sleeve may be an option. $5k is about what it would cost to go to Mexico.

    Well I did it today!

Hot shower, I always sit in the hot tub for 10 -15 minutes after work out or take a hot shower when I get home so the muscles don't get too stiff.
  23. @@Sleeve101 Thank you! I have good genes in my family. My grandmother was beautiful. I know everyone says that but she really was. Those pictures were taking on the day I left the hospital and at my 3 mth f/u. I'll be 4 mths on the 18th. I hadn't noticed the weight loss until I looked at the photos.

7 weeks post op and I'm STARVING!

Are you sure it's not acid? They can feel very similar. Are you getting your water in? If you're drinking 30 minutes after eating you really shouldn't feel hungry. Are you working out extra hard?
  25. YAY! I just had my 3 mths. Everything was normal but my B12 was high. I now take that once a week.
