    Fruit problems?

I'd have to double check but I believe apples and bananas have the highest amount of sugar. Its a balancing act though. With fruit you also get fiber, which typically keep us regular. It's just with these fussy sleeves sometimes it can make you a little too regular.
  2. I stick to my program and have from day 1. I exercise more than required but I feel better when I work out so I work out 5 -6 days a week for at least an hour.
  3. It may be the brands you are using. I don't particularly care for the flavored kind. Too much stuff in them. I prefer Isopure unflavored that I can add to regular food. However, 3 weeks out is still early. Your primary goal should be to stay hydrated. What are you eating now?

    Being put under

Lucky you! I've never gotten a pre surgery cocktail. I always end up walking into the OR. This time the had to start a PICC line because they couldn't find a vein for the IV. I've never made it past 97 though.

    Fruit problems?

I agree it's likely a combo of the Fiber and sugar. It may just be a phase. I would give the fruits that are causing problems a break for now and try them again in a month or 2. I can eat any fruit I like no problem. I have fruit several times a week. The only fruit I haven't tried are bananas and that's only because I hate them.

    Are the drains painful?

I had a drain. I didn't feel it at all while it was in. Mine was pulled the day I was discharged from the hospital and it didn't hurt, but it was an odd feeling having it pulled. I also had one years ago when I had my hysterectomy. That one didn't hurt either and I felt nothing when it was pulled. It's nothing to be afraid of.

    Disappointed in myself

There's no race or prescribed amount you are supposed to have lost. Everyone loses at different rates. Some are fast losers and some are slow losers. When is the last time you lost 37lbs in 2½mths? Don't compare yourself to others. Continue to follow your program and you should be fine.

    Stage 2 diet - Am I full?

Just measure out the amount recommended by your doctor or nutritionist and eat that and then stop. We're eating such small amounts it's nearly impossible to overeat.

    Weight Loss

Yes it happens. Sometimes it's water weight from the IV fluids and sometimes it's your body trying to adjust to the changes. Give it time. Continue to follow your doctor's instructions. The weight will come off.

    Feeling defeated

I don't understand doctors that tell patients they aren't losing enough. It does nothing for the self esteem. Some patients are slow but steady losers. You haven't gained so that's a big plus. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! Counting calories isn't that difficult. Did he give you a calorie guideline he wanted you to fall in? I use MyFitnessPal. My basic rules are 700 - 850 calories per day, Try to keep carbs under 50, Protein at least 70gm and get my 64 ounces of fluids in each day. I also try to keep my carbs to Breakfast or lunch because those are the hours of the day I am most active. So take a deep breath, and get back to work. You can do this!

OMG! That sounds delicious! I'd make it in individual ramekins and freeze the extras.

    Being put under

Pretty much. The only thing that may make you a little nervous is seeing/being in the OR. There are all these machines and such and for some that can be a little intimidating. Note most of those machines aren't for you, but are just the general OR setup The only things that will touch you while you are awake is the table you will lie on, the IV they will put in your arm, possibly a pulse xy ( a little thing that clips to your finger) and the mask that on your face. That sounds like a lot but it really isn't. They out the mask on and tell you to count backwards. You probably will be out by 97. Honestly it's the easiest part.

    Vegetables after weight loss surgery

Fiber typically doesn't cause constipation. It actually helps with BM's. Fiber is what constipation aides like ducolax and benefiber are made of. Getting it from veg just means you may not need to use those things. Raw veg may be challenging for dome because the body has to break them and that may be difficult if you are used to eating a lot of raw veg or have a still healing belly. Fiber and plenty of fluids is actually a good way to not get constipated.

    Food intake

That's my point. I don't think there is an average. Everyone has a different program. I wasn't instructed to each a certain amount every few hours at all. I was told to work up to the 60gms of protein/64 ounces of fluid.

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

@@Kindle I agree that therapy is not needed for everyone going through WLS but for those who can't help themselves or correct what might be viewed as self destructive behaviors it can be a help. More importantly when a poster suggests someone who appears to be struggling that counseling might be helpful, the intent is not to judge or to be mean, rather it's a genuine attempt at help.
  18. If you can get your hands on it there are many forms of medical MJ. Some you smoke, some is in liquid form and some is in edible form. It's not about suddenly becoming a stoner.

    Pre-Surgery Behavioral Changes

Most doctors will recommend no sodas/carbonated drinks,so quitting that is a good idea. I also second the practice eating slow. It's much harder than it sounds and even what you may think is slow may not be slow enough.

Sorry you feel this way. Even the most well intended support group is no replacement for a competent therapist.

    Sick before surgery.....

Hopefully you will be fine. However please realize that if you are still have respiratory issues, it makes anesthesia a bit more challenging. It's better to be safe than sorry and postpone rather than risk complications.

    Laringitis treatment

Salt water. but in your nose. Some time our throats get irritated from post nasal drip. As for the throat itself. I use old school brown Listerene. It's nasty but it soothe the throat and it also keeps me from getting thrush. Mostly just give your throat a rest and ride it out. Talk as little as possible.

    Food intake

What were your doctor's and/or nutritionist instructions? They are the ones in charge of your care. You should ask them. There are too many variable in programs. Some have clear liquid phases, some do not , etc....

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

Why? It's possible. Personally I don't believe in cheat meals. Never have. I ate according to plan through all my post op phases. 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks pureed and 2 weeks soft food. The liquid phase was hard, but I sucked it up and did it. Now that I can eat whatever I tolerate I plan for sweets and thing. However I still maintain my protein/calorie goals. If I'm going to a party or event I base my days eating around it. If I want a piece of chocolate I plan for that. My goal is to eat balanced. There is no room for a cheating mentality. That doesn't make me perfect and I'm not trying to be. I'd also like to say. Suggesting someone get therapy or counseling isn't intended to be judgmental. I noticed sometimes posters seem to get offended when others suggest that. It's just a matter of recognizing that sometimes people need a little extra help with getting in the right head space to be successful with WLS. If you are literally unable to stop yourself from eating what is not good for you, seeing a professional who may be able to help you develop new tools to do that isn't a ad thing.

    Vegetables after weight loss surgery

I was able to eat raw veg by 6 weeks. I started slow, a little romaine or fresh spinach with some egg salad. I missed salads and even though I eat much smaller ones than I previously did, I now have them several times a week. I have been fortunate enough not to have had any problems with any foods so far.
