    Pre op worries

I agree. There are too many factors at play to give a blanket yes or no answer. However I would say a healthy 20 year old who weighs in the 200lbs range might want to try other lifestyle changes before going the surgical route. Try a basic clean eating routine of eating good healthy foods. No fad diets, limit fast foods and take out to once a week. Eat a nutritious Breakfast every day. Just eat balanced meals at least 85% of the time, drink more Water than soda or juice and exercise at least 3 times a week.
  2. I only weight myself when I go to the doctor. This often means I don't get wieghed more than once a mth. The good part about this is if I have had a stall, I missed it. I've shown a loss every time I get weighed. I rely more on my food diary. I can usually tell if I will gain/lose by how I am eating. I take measurements every 3 mths.

I never thought I'd have this problem

Almost immediately. I didn't have a pre-op diet but did lose a lot within those first 2 weeks post op. I was down 26 lbs at my 2 week check up, then down another 6, then down another 15. At that point clothes started hanging off me and I had to go looking for some of the things that were starting to fit me a little snug.
  4. With clean eating my motto is 90/10. So 90% of the time I drink water or my Protein shakes. I have coffee maybe twice a week and on occasion I will have fruit juice or tea. I gave up sodas 4 years ago and I like how my body responds to being well hydrated. My skin is clear, I am never constipated and I rarely get hungry between meals. I don't use water additive because I am allergic to food dyes and artificial sweeteners.
  5. Funny thing. When I first started my weight loss journey, years before I decided on WLS, I joined a gym to take Water aerobics. Even though I was going 4 times a week, I can't say I loved it. I liked that I felt better and was more mobile and flexible as a result so my body liked it. I took and African Dance class yesterday and while I sweated and tried to move my body like the instructor, I realized that not only do I like working out, but when I can't work out like the 3 days last week when I couldn't get to the gym because of the snow, I miss it. I currently work out 5 -6 days a week and not only love it, but I am always looking for new things to try. My point is keep it up. At some point your body not only starts to love the how it feels, but craves it.
  6. It might be better if OP would plan 5 small but nutritious meals. This way you don't morph from snacking to grazing and by planning you can at least make smarter food choices. If that's how your body works, there's no need in fighting it, just make it work for you.

    Vegetables after weight loss surgery

Try adding Protein rich add ins. chicken breast if you eat meat, black Beans if you're veg. Unless you have a family history of high cholesterol, eat the whole egg. Most of the nutrients are in the yolk. Ease up on the dressing. I use vinegar & olive oil most days. Occasionally I will add a spoonful of salsa instead. Avocado is a healthy fat and very filling. Try different greens. Dark, leafy greens are best. I often use spinach, occasionally blanch kale, spring mix and once and a while arugula.
  8. The foaming isn't from acid, it's likely from eating too fast.

    Colace 4 Days Post-op

I was started on them in the hospital. They went down fine for me. The gel cap slides easier and feels like it dissolves pretty quickly.

    Bathing Suits

I've bought several swimsuits from Swimsuitforall and one from Land's End. Land's End does a great post holiday sale. Swimsuitforall I get my suits for Water aerobics. I buy the kirnkle suits. They are the best for an active water aerobics class. The suits have nice support inside and good, sturdy built in bras. The krinkle fabric holds up to the chlorine better than any chlorine resistant suit. I just picked up a swim bra from BCCOutlet for $7. I'm getting a swim unitard and I wasn't sure how supportive the bra section would be.

I never thought I'd have this problem

I kinds have the same issue. I'm under growing my clothes as fast as I can dig them out. I have an annual event every summer that I would typically buy new clothes for. I would usually start about now buying outfits, getting shoes and accessories, etc.... I can't do that this year. I guess it's a good thing.
  12. I use coconut oil (i buy cold pressed virgin oil since I also use it to cook with) or shea butter on my face. On my body I use baby oil gel head to toe. I shower, pat dry so skin is just barely damp. Then apply baby oil gel generously. I have extremely dry skin so by the time I am getting dressed my body has absorbed most of it so I'm not greasy. On my incisions I use Scarfade Gel at night and bio oil in the day.

    Running shoes suggestions?

IIRC there's a Footlocker in Monmouth Mall. You could try googling to see if there's a Runner's Store or Dick's Sporting Goods nearby.
  14. You're doing fine. The burping is normal. It takes a while to work up to meeting protein & fluid goals In a week or 2 you should be there.

able to eat more than I think I should

How much Water have you had? What are your nutritionist orders on what and how much you should be eating? You really should be following those orders and when you think you are hungry in between, drink water or fluids.
  16. It takes a minute to work up to getting in the minimum of 60gms of protein, and 64ounces of fluids. Keep trying, you should get there in a week or 2.

How to edit my profile stats?

You can't edit using the app. You would have to use your phone's web browser and go to the full version of BP.

    Calcium-Free Protein

Pea protein, soy isolate, hemp protein will all work.

    Worried it wont work

Adding to the chorus. WLS is a helpful tool. It does indeed work, however the long term effectiveness depends entirely on you. You'll have to change bad habits and attitudes about food and realize that you will have to work at it every day for the rest of your life. Be positive, and be committed too this and you can be a success!

    Running shoes suggestions?

The runners I know are like ASICS, but I agree you need to go to a true athletic store and get fitted. I lived and worked in Monmouth county for a hot minute.
  21. It's not unusual. Your body may just be adjusting to all the new changes. My advice would be to take your measurements (neck, boobs, waist, hips) and then step away from the scale for a bit. Make sure you are getting in your protein and fluids. If you are following your program, the weight will come off.

    Eggs

Nothing really eases the cravings. You need to work out what you can and cannot eat with your nutritionist. It is counterproductive to return to your old eating habits. Just hang in there as you progress through the stages.

    Eggs

The cholesterol myth is more based on genetics. Most of the good stuff is in the yolk. Unless you have a family history of high cholesterol, eat the whole egg.

    Eggs

I had eggs at 2 weeks post op. I was allowed eggs once I hit purees. I made them really soft, almost custard like. I added a tiny bit of greek yogurt and some shredded cheese and cooked them really slow, constantly stirring. They were divine! it took me an hour to eat them, but man was I happy not to be having a liquid meal.
  25. Regular as rain. I poo at least once a day. I had my first BM on the 3 day I after I came home from the hospital. My doctor started me on stool softeners in the hospital. I was on them for 30 days and haven't needed any assistance since. I'm vegetarian so a lot of my Protein also comes from plant based sources that are also high in fiber like Beans so that may be helping. I do notice on the days when I can also get in green leafy veg or salads along with exercise and plenty of Water, I am even more regular. On those days I may go twice.
