15 days out and haven't had that "full" feeling...what's wrong that I don't feel full yet?

I'm confused, you say the weight is coming off slowly so why are you asking when does the weight come off? Everyone loses at a difference pace, you may just be a slow loser. -

Debunking the Myth that Fast Food is Cheaper than REAL Food
BLERDgirl replied to LipstickLady's topic in Food and Nutrition
@@Stevehud - That's not my point. My point is many may not have the $15 to begin with, but they do have a few bucks to eat off the dollar menu. That still doesn't change the fact that dollars & sense wise it's cheaper to buy fresh food versus fast food. What you're talking about is more of a time management issue would could be solved with a little food prep. This is why as I stated, there may be socio-economical reasons why people don't buy fresh. -
@@gal friday the Lenny & Larry Protein Cookies. Also try MorningShine Breakfast Cookies. Both are really tasty and have lots of flavors. If you like hard boiled eggs, boil half a dozen for a grab and go breakfast.

Not me. I know you have enough sense not to eat that everyday. A one off ain't gonna kill ya.

I was going to recommend the same thing. Start with 20mg and go up to 40 if needed. It really will make a big difference. -

Debunking the Myth that Fast Food is Cheaper than REAL Food

@@Stevehud - Now you're crossing the line into the social-economic issues like food Desserts and ghetto or poor tax. Yes there are areas even in urban cities where there aren't may decent supermarkets and people have to rely on foods from corner stores and bodegas. There is also such a thing as a ghetto/poor tax which basically comes down to something as simple as not making enough to truly get ahead. In essence, Tom need to buy groceries but Tom make minimum wage and has to buy rent, etc... Now of course there is a sale on chicken breast for $15, which Tom could split up and make multiple meals from, but he also has to pay all those other bills off that min. wage salary. So instead Tom is probaly going to buy the chicken wings or something off the dollar menu at McD. It's not really cheaper in the long run, but because Tom only make minimun wage which is ridiculously low in this country, Tom can't afford to to do the long range planning of buying the chicken breast. So it's not really cheaper, it's just cheaper right now. -

Did your doctor prescribe a stool softener? I was put on a 30 day course starting day 1 in the hospital. It's not uncommon to get a little backed up between the anesthesia and the meds they have you on in the hospital. I went on day 5, 3 days after I was discharged. I've been regular since. -
I am a BIG advocate of eating breakfast, whether it be something premade the night before or grabbed on the go like a Protein bar or shake. It jump starts your metabolism and gets you started for the day. Since overeating was never my issue, disordered eating was, when I started looking at my dirt, the first thing I did was make it a point to get in 3 meals a day at a minimum. They don't need to be big meals, but I they need to be balanced.

My Whole Foods tips: Buy from the loose bins. Sign up on their website for sales alerts and coupons. They have just started a rewards program but it's only in a small area. You can sign up to be notified when it comes to your area. Buy their 365 store brand, expecially if you are buying their frozen veg Saving money buy shopping farmer's markets and produce markets in your area, Buy fruit veg when in season and freeze. I always have a freezer stash. I buy double. One to eat, one to freeze. I use apps like Target Cartwheel, Ibotta, berry Cart and Checkout 51 to save money. You candouble dip and redeem offers on these apps on the same product. For example Say Target cartwheel has 5% off avocados, then Ibotta and Berry Cart offer $.50 cashback on avocados. You can redeem in all 3 places. Sometimes this will even make items free. I also clip coupons. -
Shakes Versus Bars - Switching Back
BLERDgirl replied to heynowkc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Just add what you like. I start with Isopure unflavored - 26gms Protein, add anywhere from a whole to half cup of FAGE 0% greek yogurt 23 -12gms protein. Maybe a ¼ cup of Water to help blend. Then toss in anything you want. tbsp almond butter, a dash of cacao(chocolate) powder, some fruit, some chopped spinach. It's a big protein boost to start the day and takes the pressure off the rest of the day. My big meals are Breakfast and lunch because I am most active those times of day so if my calories go a little higher I am more likely to burn them off. Most evenings my dinner is a small vegtable salad with black Beans and an egg as my protein or Soup with a half a scoop of Isopure added. I've never been an evening/late night snacker. I might have a cup of tea or some fruit in the evening but often I don't have anything. I don't know if it's because I am a vegetarian or not but my calories tend to be a lot lower than most people's are at 6 months. I still get in between 700 - 900 calories a day. I don't think Larabars are really high in protein. I think at most they have between 9 -11gms of protein. I just keep those and nuts(typcally almonds or pistachios) in the car for on the go days so I don't turn to fast food. French Fries are my weakness. This was another thing I started doing pre WLS. -
Shakes Versus Bars - Switching Back
BLERDgirl replied to heynowkc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I supplement with shakes for multiple reasons. I'm not a morning person and it's easier for me to make a shake in the morning. I made them before WLS and they were always some vairation of Protein powder+greek yogurt that I would add fruit, veg or nut butter to. Since I am vegetarian, protein shakes definitely help me get in extra protein. Prior to WLS my own person protein goal was 50gms or more. Now I aim for 70+. I doubt I would hit that w/o a shake a day. I've never been a bar person. many have things I can't eat such as artificial colorings, sugars and stevia. They are add too many carbs to my diet and I already have to watch that because of where my food proten comes from (mostly Beans and green veg). The bar that I do like and can eat like Larabars and Lenny & Larry's taste too good. Especially the cookie like bars. I don't buy them because I caould easily see myself over eating them. I keep 1 -2 Larabars in the car in case of emergencies, but I don't make them a part of my routine. However I am a homecook. I never had a problem getting in the kitchen and experimenting. It's what got me throught the all liquid phase and it's how I keep my Protein drinks from not being boring. I also knew from previous weight loss attemptd tht I don't lose if I eat too many carbs and I *really* don't lose eating heavily processed foods. -

Can't speak for everyone here, but I was speaking on the conversation about the types of foods some nutritionist okay in general. OP said she eats them, not that the nutritionist told her to. Honestly I doubt the she has seen one to know if this was recommended or not since she stated she hasn't had a follow up for some time. -
7 weeks out. How much to eat?
BLERDgirl replied to ls27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I started adding lettuce to my diet around 6 weeks. After that My nutritionist said as tolerated so I probably had full on salads around 6 -7 weeks. I was adding raw spinach to my protein drinks from day 1. I just made sure they were well blended. -
Perhaps you aren't eatng enough. Are you meetng your protein and fluid goals?

You should get the feeling as you progress to more solid foods. However in the meantime keep you portions to ½ -1 cup unless your nutritionist says otherwise. -
Itching all over body
BLERDgirl replied to amyecpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diagnosed with chronic uterica (hives) a few year back. Now for some of you it may just be the after effects of surgery. You can use benedryl or benedryl creme. Do not use both! Your body will react as if you had taken a double dose. You can do a combo of benedryl and hydracortisone cream. I am allergic to latex. Even latex free bandaids & tape have a small percentage of latex in the glue. I broke out from the bandages used to hold my PICC line and where they put a bandaide after unsucessfully trying to start an IV. I had a nasty red rash for 2 -3 weeks. For others it may be the ingredients in the foods you are eating. After I had gotten allergy tested multiple times what I had to do was look at the foods I was eating. Giving up processed foods as much as possible was a big help. Nothing out of a box or a can, no premade mixes. If the ingredients had more than 10 things or had words I needed a science degree to read, it got tossed. Then I had to give up artificial sugars and stevia. If you have sinusitus, stevia is not for you. It is a plant in the ragweed family and can cause allergic reactions. I also had to look at the side effects of medications I was using. If swelling and hives are a side effect, you likely can't handle that medication. @@shawgirl1 - Do you still use Protein drinks? I would look at the ingredients. If not, it may be time to get allergy testing. -

And yet most places will readily tell you to use artificial sweeteners. There is an entre industry of bariatric foods full of artificial ingredients. I actually had to prove I could eat a whole food, mostly plant based diet. *SMH* -
A friend of mine mashes banana and egg together and makes "pancakes" that way. It still a lot of natural sugar, but might be good for a low carb alternative.
