Surgery 3-16-15 an starving
BLERDgirl replied to stephnichols's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Time to call your doctor. You need something to control the loose stools before you get dehydrated. You probably also need something for pain. Overall if you are this miserable you need to call your doctor. -

I think the OTC prilosec comes in capsules that you could take apart and mix in apple sauce but you might need a few of them to equal the prescription strength

Try doing a search on Tricare. I see the question pop up every so often. There may be a few threads that can give you the ins and outs.

Ooo the strawberry preserves sound yummy. I've actually got an unopened jar of raspberry preserves that someone gave me for Christmas. Guess I'll try them on my pancake this weekend! In fact, I'm thinking of making a thinner batter, calling it a crepe and rolling it up with cream cheese and preserves....drooool..... Swap those raspberry preserves for marmalade and I'm right there with you!

Activity Tracker/MyFitnessPal
BLERDgirl replied to Terry Lincoln's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
On the app, tap on Goals in the menu and there is a Nutrition Goals section where you can change everything. Can't remember where to do this on the website, but it will be a similar process. same deal. At the tops of the page click GOALS. On that page you can change goals to your liking. -
I watch my macronutrients as well so I don't fake add anything. I just close out my day and ignore the warning.

He started a new, more positive thread and updated there. Search his name and it should pop up. The last check in was fairly positive. -
MFP is not set up for a bariatric diet. Bariatric diets are designed to put up into a sort of borderline ketosis with a high protein/low calorie diet. We can live off of that because are stomachs are much smaller than a normal persons. However it is also why we need to supplement with Vitamins and have out levels monitored with regular bloodwork. I am 6 months out as well and I average between 700 - 900 calories a day and 75gms of Protein. Your weight loss may just be how your body works. Some people are slow losers, some are fast. You need to communicate with your nutritionist and your bariatric team. They are the ones who should be monitoring your nutrition. 1400 calories is closer to what the average sleever would eat on maintenance. If you are getting in all your protein/fluids and exercise, you may just be a slow loser, but you really should speak with your nutritionist if you are concerned. As for MFP's alert, I just ignore it because I know it's not set up for my special circumstances.

Trouble Getting Water in a Curse or a Temporary
BLERDgirl replied to sleevearilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a champion pill taker before surgery. I had no problem taking pills with food. I pretty much have a tummy made of steel. I've had no issues eating and drinking anything. -
@@KatrinaGrace - I think so. Just make sure you read the policy on the website.

What to expect immediately post-op?
BLERDgirl replied to vida81's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a really easy time of it. 1. What was it like waking up? Did you feel pain or nausea right away, or feel confused? No pain, no nausea. Abs felt like I had done a vigorous work out the day before. I woke up with an overwhelming urge to pee and was able to use the toilet. 2. Did you go right to your room or were you in a post operative room at first? I went to recovery. I actually was in recovery for 2 hours waiting for my bed on the floor to be ready. I think I peed 3 or 4 times. Nurses were pleased because it meant I was up and walking. 3. How long did you wait before you walked? Walked in recovery. 4. Did you have a pain pump or how did you take pain medication or anti-nausea meds? I was offered a pain pump, did not use/need it. Did not take any pains or anti-nausea meds. 5.How long until you took your home meds? Did you crush them or take them whole? I was started on colace (stool softener) and omeprazole (ant-acid) in the hospital. I continued colace for 30 days and omeprazole until month 5. They were small. I was allowed to swallow them whole. The only meds I was on prior to surgery was a daily ZyrtecD. I resumed that once I went home. -
Hippie people PLEASE weigh in!

Nah, I'm losing at a fairly average rate. Not particularly fast, but not extremely slow. I am pretty good about keeping calories low, protein high, drinking water and exercise though. -
Trouble Getting Water in a Curse or a Temporary
BLERDgirl replied to sleevearilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're supposed to leave a window of at least 30 -60 minutes before and after eating. I don't think that changes for quite some time. Even at 6 mths even attempting to drink after eating is uncomfortable. -
Day 4 post op and scared to take big sips
BLERDgirl replied to js1234567890's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't take big sips. Stay with small sips and go slow. Yes it will take forever, but as you heal you'll be able to take bigger sips. Until then go slow. You will gradually build up to drinking 64 ounces+ of fluids. -
Almost 2 weeks post op and I don't want to eat anything

Sick how? Nauseous? Tummy upset? It is normal but if it's nausea or acid, you can get meds for it. -
Trouble Getting Water in a Curse or a Temporary
BLERDgirl replied to sleevearilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It varies person to person. I never had any issues getting in fluids, but it took some time to work up to drinking 64 ounces or more of fluid a day. -
Often we are our own worse enemies. I can clearly see a difference in your before and after shots, but when I look at my own pictures other than a slightly thinner face I can't see the difference. I'm down 75lbs. I have to give away clothes. I had to buy a new bathing suit for Water aerobics. I am down 6 - 10 inches all around. I can fit in a regular chair with arms for the first time in years. Despite all of this, when I look in the mirror I have a hard time seeing the changes. I know it's a mental thing and this is why I have to document it in other ways. I'm going to keep the dress in my before picture. When I hit 100lbs down Ill take another update picture. You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

Activity Tracker/MyFitnessPal
BLERDgirl replied to Terry Lincoln's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@@Terry Lincoln - I'm not a veteran so take this with a grain of salt. I am a long time MFP user. (Milaxx) MFP is not set up for baritraic diets and probably will never have that type of setting. However I don't worry about % as much as I look at types of foods and when those food are eaten. I am a vegetarian and since most of my protein is plant based my carbs tend to be a lot higher than a lot of people would be comfortable with. I also vary my calories consumed based on how active of a day I have. Complex carbs don't slow my weight loss and neither does natural sugar. Too much sodium and processed foods do. So what I did was manual set thing for how my body works. As long as I meet my protein goal, keep my calories low and manage to stay under the other macro nutrients I am fine.
