Compression shirt 3 days out
BLERDgirl replied to ladycook9713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@wannaBthinsoon - anywhere that sells sportwear. Lane Bryant has them in their activewear line. Personally I prefer them over spanx or waist trainers. I buy compression yoga pants as well. It is especially helpful now as I tend to be a bit more jiggly as I lose weight. -
Can fluids get stuck #5dayspostop

I understand that. What I am saying is there is no reason to run away from vegetables. I was incorporating spinach into my protein drinks from week postop. -
Face moisturizer suggestions? And dry skin in general -- lotion suggestions?
BLERDgirl replied to Elizabeth21's topic in The Gals' Room
Coconut oil. I prefer cold pressed virgin coconut oil. I also use my Mia Clarisonic 4 -5 days a week to gently slough off any dead skin. Other than that I drink plenty of water and NEVER, EVER go to bed with makeup on. -
You are the type of person who might benefit from doing short 10 minute workouts in the morning and evening. Otherwise you simply won't be able to workout. Youtube has loads of them and some cable On Demand features do as well. You could also buy videos on Amazon and the like.

First of all, vegetarian here. I could really use some company. Feel free to come sit by me anytime! Secondly the term "picky eater" chaps my biscuits in the worse way! Why should I eat something that makes me gag? Or has an unpleasant mouth feel? I won't even go into it with people who try to tell me that my allergies are "all in my head". YES, YES, YES!!!! Silly me tried to share a way to make a pizza like meal for someone who said they missed Dominoes Pizza. May as well have recommended they fly to the moon.

Can fluids get stuck #5dayspostop
BLERDgirl replied to js1234567890's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I will hit 80 gms of Protein today eating not one single piece of animal flesh. I do not need colace or miralax and have never had an issue with constipation. Like most sleevers, I take supplements & Vitamins, but I get most of my nutrients from natural, plant based foods. I am not saying that everyone has to be or should be a vegetarian. I am saying that avoiding ALL vegetables, not just starchy ones is not a good idea. I have no respect for nutritionist who advocate such a thing. Thankfully I have a nutritionist that is willing to work with me and is open to the concept of plant based diets. -

There is protein in nearly everything including vegetables. It doesn't make sense to eat NO vegetables. Even a small amount could help alleviate some of the constipation so many sleevers seem to have. -
Things I learned about pool exercise: It's really good for bad joints/arthritis, etc... The people at the gym don't really care about your size. Get out of your head and do what's good for you! I have never been embarrassed or ashamed about who I am or what size I was. That's why I'm at the gym.

why do a fad diet if you're already o a bariatric diet. Just continue to follow docs orders and push through the stall.

Not if that's her doctor's instructions.

bowel movements are a no go

What are you eating? I eat pretty much every I ate before WLS but in much smaller portions. My BMs are pretty much the same as before. The only difference is I only go one or two times a day whereas before I was often at least 3 times a day or more. Still I'll take one regular a day over constipation any day. -
It depends on my day. I eat lighter on days I don't go to the gym. I avg between 700 - 900, but occasionally I am high or lower. For example, this was a crazy week with doctor's appointments and such. I had 2 days where I was just under 700 and today I was at 926. I think most days I hit around 850. The difference is I was running around like cray today and I started my day with a really vigorous aquafit class. I hit 6mth on the 18th.

So confused? Thought I did my homework
BLERDgirl replied to Hertsukfem31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don't forget many people have discovered the can easily eat slider foods. Imagine if instead of eating small amounts of Protein and veg all day. You just eat pudding all day or you eat noodles all day. but just small amounts. You've spent the day eating small amounts of food that aren't protein or veg. Your body doesn't have anything to nourish it and the foods you have consumed are full of carbs and sugar. That's how people regain. Some people handle the food thing differently and honestly don't weigh and measure when they are at goal. However, these are people who are vigilant enough to actually seek out protein first. You have to be honest with yourself. If not weighing/measuring will allow you to delude yourself that you can have something bad "just this one time" and that one time happens every day, then you may be the person who needs to weigh and measure forever. If you can honestly handle winging it, then I say go for it. -

4 days post-op and really hungry
BLERDgirl replied to SouthernBelle69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people do not get that full feeling until they are eating solids foods. Basically liquids run right through you. Give it time. It will happen. -

BLERDgirl replied to Hertsukfem31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's true with whatever WLS option your take. I personally know people who managed to eat around their lap band and several people who managed to eat around Bypass. This can't be said often enough. This is a tool, not a cure. No matter what surgery your take you still need to make a lifestyle change to healthier eating habits or risk regaining. -
Post surgery work out
BLERDgirl replied to raquel_c's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cleared to resume exercise after 2 weeks and Water aerobics after 3. I was told I could do whatever I could handle. I mostly do aquafit so I resumed that. We use water weights so I get cardio and weight training. I also use hand weights at home. I recently also started doing kettleball workouts and riding my bike occasionally. I believe weight lifting is important for toning, but I also think consistency is key. I work out 5 - 6 days a week. Basically I make sure to get some exercise in everyday. -
Better safe than sorry. Try not to borrow trouble. Even if your surgery is delayed, better a delay than post-op complications.

I used to carry granola bars in my pocketbook all the time. However regulations change frequently. Your best bet is to check the TSA's website. -
Physically demanding job. Is two weeks off enough?
BLERDgirl replied to JudyQ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a teacher's assistant? Otherwise I'd say no. Energy wise if all goes well you could return in 2 weeks, but with little people that you might have to or need to pick up, I'd say, "No" unless you have an assistant who could do the picking up and stuff. Also keep in mind you need to be able to sip for most of the day. -
No respect from family.

You are not wrong for being mad. Just don't hold a grudge. It only hurts you. However when my mother did this I told her. "I asked you to keep this in confidence. since you were unable to do that, do not expect to know anything else about my personal life. You have just shown me you are not to be trusted." I meant every word of it. After I said my peace I let it go. -
What do you do with your old fat clothes?
BLERDgirl replied to Pac-woman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
*SIGH* I'm taking a pretty hard hit. I have 4 bags of clothes going to the goodwill. 1 large bag I'm going to try and sell on Facebook or a consignment shop. I have a Anna Scholtz dress I paid $250 for that I wore all of 4 times. Another dress I paid $99 and wore once. I have several fully lined work suits and a full length wool coat I wore this winter until it simply looked like I was wearing a very large blanket. I have some dresses I'm taking to my local Dress for Success store. They work with helping people return to the work force and when I was a case worker I recall they always needed plus sized work attire. I'll keep the receipts and try and get the tax write off, but there's not much else to do. ETA: On face book the groups are Fat Too & Fat Too Grand. -

@@GEAUX SAINTS - makes good points. Consult your doctor/nutritionist about how to adjust you intake to make this successful for you. In the meantime I would recommend staying away from binge-y and slider foods.
