  1. I'm with @@alwaysvegas - not a single regret except that I didn't do this sooner. I had a pretty easy surgical experience and continue to have an easy time of it post op. I had no pain/nausea/etc..., not even gas. Even with my food allergies I've had no issues with food. I can still tolerate plain water. I still have to work at it by eating right and exercising, but I pretty much eat everything I ate pre-op.

    The Olivia Pope Diet

Now she got Fitz, Jake and that new chocolate honey Papa Pope set her up with! Sexercise FTW!

    The Olivia Pope Diet

I wouldn't. Girl can toss it back! I'd pass out and not eat for 2 days!
  4. I agree call your doctor. In the meantime you may want to lay off any dairy products. Some people have issues with cow's milk right after surgery.
  5. Biotin pills and Jamaican Black Castor oil. Also decrease the frequency of your retwist. I only retwist every 4 - 6 weeks. Make sure you are getting in all your protein as well.
  6. @@fox99 - I use scarfade gel. I had previously used it for scarring I had on my face. I tend to keloid and get raised, bumpy scars. The scar fade gel helps flatten and decreases the overall size of the scar. I started using it as soon as the incisions scabbed over. I buy it online directly from the company. It was recommended by my dermatologist. Unfortunately it is not covered by insurance.
  7. @@stuknbama - I agree we have different programs. I just confused. I am pleased with my program as well and I have had no issues either, I am not discounting your program at all. Like you I've had no issues eating or drinking. I even had a handy handbook that outlines my entire program from pre-post op. However you said you aren't getting all you Protein in but you don't have issues eating or drinking. I'm asking why not? I understand not relying heavily on Protein drinks. My program strongly encourages getting my protein from food. as well. So I'm confused by your statement that you aren't losing because you don't get all your protein.
  8. Find a pool and try Water aerobics. You can even just walk the pool. My gym membership is paid for by my insurance. Check your policy.
  9. Then why aren't you getting in 60 gms of protein? The theory s that the body cannot process more than 30 gms of protein in an hour. If you are sipping longer than that you're fine.

    Full?

Sounds like you did. Lunch at ¼ cup was perfect, but that ½ cup made you uncomfortable. Tomorrow try scaling back to that ¼ cup again. If you don't get that uncomfortable feeling you'll know that's your happy spot.

    Scared and unsure

Eff em' It's your body and your business. Who cares what they think. They are living your life for you. Don't even waste the breath trying to convince them. Simply tell them, "thanks for you opinion" and walk away. Then start to work on you. Join a gym. Start walking every day for at least 30 minutes. Cut back and/or quit sodas. Walk the walk while you are undergoing your testing. Here's a good tale to counteract the horror stories your dad told you. I had the easiest time of it. Easier than my surgery to repair my meniscus and easier than my full hysterectomy. I woke up in recovery and was able to get up and walk. I had zero complications, zero gas and zero pain. I never used the pain pump in the hospital and didn't get the prescription for pain filled because I felt that good. I returned to the gym at 3 weeks and haven't had any issues with nausea and vomiting. Every food I have tried, I have tolerated. I have lost 80lbs in 6 mths. This was the best thing I ever did. I should have done this 20 years ago.
  12. The only thing I would have changed is I would have gotten it done 10/20 years sooner. There is no food I ate previously that I miss now. I know how my skin reacts am I use scare cream regularly. If I had know it would be this easy I would have done it earlier.

    Is this weird?!?

I was over 400lbs and didn't have a pre-op diet. I made it a point to increase my Protein and eat well, but otherwise I didn't do anything special. I was already active at the gym and I continued with that. The day before was clear liquid then NPO after midnight. I had the easiest surgical experience and my post op has been easy as well.
  14. I'm sorry your experience has been so negative. This has literally been the easiest thing I have ever done. It appears to be the luck of the draw. Some people have complications and issues and others don't.

Question regarding 7 weeks post op

There's no magic answer. Every one is different. Different height, weights, body types, etc... Some people lose fast, some people lose slow. This question comes up probably once at day. You could do a search and find tons of threads asking this very same question with just as many answers.
  16. @@Nettie225 - How far out are you? I know some do not feel restriction until they are on regular food. If you are unhappy with you current doctor call the insurance co to see about switching to a new doctor for f/u.

How many calories to lose faster?

What's the rush? You didn't gain overnight. I work out 5 - 6 days a week. I eat between 700 - 900 calories a day and 80 - 100 gms of Protein. Every program is different. Follow your dietitian's instructions.
  18. Step away from the scale. You didn't gain overnight and you won't lose. The scale will only make you crazy. Take your measurements (neck/boobs/waist/hips) and then retake them every 3 mths. 5 days without a loss is no big deal. As long as you are doing what you should the weight will come off.
  19. This is a 3 year old post. I'll try and answer. The pain goes away. Most people eventually can eat normally again once things are healed.Bad food habits can creep back in. People can and do figure out ways to eat around small stomachs. Eating non-nutritious slider foods can allow the weight to slowly creep back up. Additionally not everyone has pain. I had none.I had some mild acid for a few months that was successfully managed with omeprazole. I haven't needed to take anything for acid for over a month now. I have yet to eat or drink anything that upset my stomach, caused nausea or made me vomit. I read in your other post you are seeing a new bariatric doctor. Hopefully he will find the right medication to help resolve your nausea & acid issues, and the pain you feel will go away as you heal.
  20. It's okay to ask them to explain why they are making a recommendation. I question my doctors and nutritionist all the time.

    Vitamin Shoppe Protein Sale

They are always having a sale & they have a rewards card. I was in the store last week & got $5 off my Isopure & it wasn't on the sale list. There's one around the corner from my gym so I always check in on sales.
  22. You do realize the reason you aren't losing is likely due to not meeting protein goals?

    Bariatric Vitamins

You'll have to do some research. My doctor gave me a list of required Vitamins. He also told me I would have to have chewables for the first 6 weeks. My doctor does not allow gummie vitamins. After that, it's up to you. Some take Flintstones chewables, some take the chewables that are the textures of a starburst candy. The only other thing specified was to take Calcium citrate, not carboninate. At 6 mths I just take regular ones since I have no problem swallowing pills.
  24. It depends on you. Some people are self conscious about eating slowly or eating differently. I'm not. I was back to eating out probably around 4 weeks post op which was when I was allowed soft foods. Since then I have been to several social functions and eat out as much as I did before surgery. If the waiter takes drink orders I either order nothing or just order water and push it away. I also end up with lots and lots of doggy bags. In fact depending on where I eat, I actually order with the doggy bag in mind. Most meals leave me with a doggy bag that I can get 3 - 4 additional meals out of.

what type of scale do you use?

It's just another reason why the scale is not the best way to monitor your progress. Look for NSV and take your measurements. Even when the scale doesn't move, you'll get a better view of your progress.
