200 lbs or more to lose?

I have lost quite a bit of weight and if I wanted to get to the proper BMI I *still* have 200lbs to lose. I am doing quite well, taking it one day at a time and feeling better with each pound gone. I've never hidden any of my stats. One thing I suggest you look at now is your relationship with food. Things like emotional eating, boredom eating and family/peer pressure can sabotage all your good work. The board can be a great source of encouragement. Welcome!

    Not losing anything? ?

@@sksh - In all likelihood no. What are you eating?

    African American vsgers!

I'm only 6½ in but so far the worse area for is my gut. My thighs were juggly for a while but I wear compression yoga pants and tops and workout 5 days a week. Today I noticed I was a little less jiggly. There's not guarantee, but I'm doing as much as I can to prevent too much saggy skin from happening. I didn't have a pre-op diet and I'm down 75lbs since my surgery in September. There was a guy who posted recently in the 400lbs forum that he was doing well. Losing lots of weight with the sleeve will take longer, but I believe it can be done. I was over when I was sleeved and hope to be down a 100lbs by May. The good news is the slower the loss, the more chance your skin has to snap back instead of sagging.

    Serious Stall

I agree with everyone's comments. I'll use today as my sample day. Mind you I'm vegetarian so my Proteins are mostly plant based. I do supplement with unflavored Isopure. I also tend to eat light for dinner. lunch is my biggest meal because I am most active between 8 am - 2pm. I usually drink 4 -8 ounces of Water when I wake up. Most days I go the gym in the morning and I can't stomach food and then workout. This morning's Protein shake was Fage 0% greek yogurt+a scoop of Isopure unflavored +½tsp cacao powder +½ unsweetened vanilla flavored almond milk. I typically drink half before my workout and the rest on the way home from the gym. (40 gm protein) I carry a water bottle with me everywhere. If I'm not full from the protein shake I start sipping on that. Once I get home I'll make lunch Today was ¾ cup of meatless turkey and left over malai kofta (an Indian dish made with chickpeas, pea, spices in a sauce made of tomatoes and cashews.) It was mostly just the sauce leftover. (15 gm protein) I also often eat a salad with an egg and black Beans for my protein but I wanted to use up the leftovers before they went bad. I'll then refill the water bottle and drink that. Typically another 20 -24 ounces depending on which bottle I grab. Today's snack was 2 pineapple rings. Sometimes I need that bit of sweetness and I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners. Dinner is Soup with a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder. (27 gm protein.) I don't often snack in the evening so I may sip on water. One other thing I try to do is plan ahead. I log my food for the day in the morning before I head out to the gym. I don't eat them often but I keep Protein Bars in the glove compartment of my car along with 1 ounce servings of nuts (usually cashews or pistachios) in case I get snacky. I also have a Blender Bottle storage jar set. It's a tremendous in staying on track. Saturday I was meeting friends at an event. I knew they were serving a continental breakfast but wasn't sure what all that would entail. I carried the top 2 tiers only. The top help my Calcium supplements and the bottom help a scoop of unflavored protein. It fit perfectly in my handbag. At the event I had fruit, yogurt and a cup of coffee to which I added my protein powder.

    How long until spa/pool

My doctor instructed me to wait until the incisions had scabbed completely. For me that was 3 weeks because the largest incision site took longer to scab.

    Restaurants?

Diners are also good, especially those that do 24 hour Breakfast. You can always get some soft scrambled eggs
  9. Sounds great, I hope it helps. Just go slow and make sure everything is soft and moist.

    6 months and eating more

Do you feel like you are overeating or is it just that your appetite has returned? If it's overeating/grazing then there are many good suggestion listed above. If it's just your old appetite waking back up, the maybe try several small meals instead of 3 big ones. Most days I am okay with breakfast/lunch/dinner, but there are days when I have to split that up into 3 meals/2 snacks or just make room for an afternoon snack. Knowing I have this planned keeps me from going overboard.
  12. You can also thin out yogurt with milk or by blending in a nutra bullet. However if you are not feeling ready to progress to the next food stage, let your nutritionist know. There's no need to move forward until you are ready if it's going to cause you pain & discomfort.

    I need Help!

You're not losing your mind. Why not give your doctor a call and see if they can prescribed something other than the meds they currently have you on or if they need to adjust the amounts. Not everyone has ongoing tummy issues, but it's not uncommon either.

    Ear Pressure

Some people can't feel any restriction until they move onto more solid foods. In the meantime follow the portion size instructions that your nutritionist gave you. I'm not sure how the ear issue is related. If it's concerning you might want to give you doctor a call and ask if it's anything you need to be worried about.

    I'm Having a Breakdown

@@Tanika81 Hang in there. Some people go through an emotional period, especially right after surgery. You are the first person to experience these feelings. Just follow the instructions you were given and the weight loss will happen. It takes some time to work up to meeting the protein and fluid guidelines. Do the best you can and you'll get there.
  16. @@ssourgirl - I'm so sorry to hear she's still having trouble. Hopefully they can find something to help her with the nausea. At least she's staying hydrated.
  17. Thanks @Grateful_Love - my questions are always to get a better understanding of where someone is coming from and not as an indictment of someone's program.
  18. @@ladycook9713 - 9 days is still early yet. It does sometimes take time to find ways to get in Protein. It really does become a matter of trial and error. Will you have a f/u soon? Some have them a week out, others 2 weeks out. If all else fails just focus on staying hydrated and then speak with your nutritionist at your f/u appointment. Take heart, as your tummy heal this will get easier and easier.

Baldness is in my future .... :/

The only area I'm having issues with are my temples. So far I can style my hair around that. Some days it looks like they are coming back and other days it doesn't. I was thinking if adding magnesium to my supplements. My D levels are still low so I'm back on prescription strength for the next 10 weeks. I'm getting my levels checked after that & will check my magnesium level at the same time.

      I know, right?

  21. Blerdgirl. .....quit being so confused...im more than meeting 60grams of Protein, im just not doing it with supplements. I clarified that more than once on above statements.I applaud you for this statement! I read these forums and she seems to always have an opinion about other people's plans. It's rather frustrating when I read a question and she always always always has thrown her opinion in which comes off as being all knowing which unless she has an MD quite frankly im not going to pay too much attention to! I am also with you and never had any issues with drinking or eating. Honestly Id talk more with your nutritionist and surgeon about what to do then people's suggestions on here. Everyone seems to have a different opinion and your surgeon and nutritionist have seen what works in the past with other patients. My surgeon says no fruit for the first 3 months some people think that's crazy but he's seen how helpful it is for weightloss with his patients, doesn't mean every one should try it if that's not what they were told you know? Good luck! Thank you....some think they know everything, but each case is its own....basics are basics, but when dealing with different body types and different medical issues, things change. Im glad i have a surgeon that realizes the things that help that may not be the cookie cutter answer. I don't believe anyone on this board has proclaimed themselves an expert. I was under the impression that we all simply sharing experiences.

    Wednesday: Workout Hacks

I find that finding things to do that are fun, makes me more likely to workout. Take a quick bike ride or a dance class. Check groupon for activities you've never done before but always wanted to try. Be adventurous!
  23. I still buy organic, but I eat so little it goes further. For the first time ever I had to throw out food that went bad before I could eat it all. Now I automatically freeze half when I buy things

    Serious Stall

You could call your nutritionist but also keep in mind the closer you get to a normal BMI and your goal weight the harder the fat will try and stick around.

    Exercise after surgery

Check with your doctor. Some want folks to wait a few weeks so are okay with resuming ASAP. Either way use common sense regarding lifting heavy objects and listen to your body.
