Yep my B12 has been 2000 for some time now. They reduced the dosage to 1 x a week and now every other week. If it stays high it will likely be discontinued by my doctor. I'm probably getting enough between my multi and food nutrients. I get repeat bloodwork then and will discuss it with my doctor.

8 months out and I don't know if I'm eating to much
BLERDgirl replied to jessicavtec1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How often are you having cheat meals? And what do they consist of? Are you getting in your Water? Keep in mind the closer to goal you get the harder it may be for the weight to come off. Those cheat meals may be holding you back. -
Feeling sick after eating
BLERDgirl replied to Kathrine1970's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Edavidson - Are you taking a PPI? If left unchecked the heartburn can lead to ulcers. -
I've got 3 piles: Goodwill - I don't care that they sell for profit they also hire developmentally delayed folks to work at their sorting centers. I worked for many years in social services. I've seen what this means to a developmentally limited adult to have a job. Selling - Some of the really nice stuff and also a few items I have that still have tags on them. Just trying to recoop some of the money I spent on them. My congregation - There are a few folks in my congregation who could use nice things. Stuff like Sunday dresses/skirts I'm giving to them. I want to be fair, but mostly I just need to clear this stuff out.

As someone who is on a fixed income, I can say what helps me most is food prep and food logging. On Sunday I boil a few eggs (a cheap and easy source of protein). This way I always have a go to breakfast so there's no excuse for skipping breakfast. I also make a pot of whatever grain I plain to use for the week. Typically quinoa or brown rice. Both can be used for sweet or savory meals. They can also be served as a side dish or made into a stir fry. I shop farmer's markets because they are plentiful in my area. I buy fresh fruit in season and freeze half. If strawberries are on sale for $1 a pint, but 2 freeze, one. Over the winter I can still have fruit. If canned Beans are on I buy that. If not I buy dry beans and make a pot at during Sunday food prep. It's another great source of Protein and can be added to stir fries, made into a Soup or served with sunny side up or poached eggs for a protein rich meal. I'm vegetarian but if you eat meat, again make your protein during food prep. Something like chicken breast prepared simply with salt and pepper. Through the week it can be pulled and served with BBQ sauce, made into chicken salad, and added to a stir fry. I also find cooking from scratch tend to be healthier and cheaper. I buy plain rolled oats. I add them to smoothies, make over night oats or serve them hot. It take a while to get started, but once you get into the mind set of making a freezer stash and doing Sunday night food prep, you can do prep in an hour or less. The best part is through the week each week should take no more than 15 - 20 mins to assemble and you save money because you have less waste since everything is accounted for.

The only thing I'm buying is gym clothes and that's because I keep needing to replace stuff and they get too big. I've always been a fashion gal. No sensible clothes in dark colors for me. I like bright trendy things. I also have more so much makeup that's it's temporarily housed in a suitcase while I redo my bedroom. I had really nice clothes and apparently couldn't bear to part with a lot of it so I've been shopping my bins as I purge for home renovations. I've found clothes my Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfinger, Elizabeth Clairborne, Jones New York and Ralph Lauren to name a few. I was a 30/32 when sleeved and I'm finding clothes all the way down to a size 16! I think if I play my cards right, I won't have to buy anything but necessities & gym clothes for some time. I'm also having a blast donating clothes to goodwill and selling the really nice stuff.

I too did no have sleep apnea according to the questionnaire and I had had a previous sleep study that verified I didn't have it. Based on your weight they still want to have up to date test results. Pretty much everyone except self pay patients get one. It's part of the protocol.

Feeling sick after eating
BLERDgirl replied to Kathrine1970's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wasn't given those instructions. In fact I was given ice chips in recovery and hot tea once on the floor. I would say try really slowing down your eating and drinking. I'm talking super slow sips and waiting in between sips. If it persist call your doctor. -
Adding to the choir. The doctors don''t want you to stop breathing during surgery. If they know you have sleep apnea they can take precautions. It's for your well being.

Feeling sick after eating
BLERDgirl replied to Kathrine1970's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It can occur when you eat or drink too fast. Especially early on when everything is still healing. If you are getting that feeling it may mean you need to slow down your eating/drinking. -

Make sure to eat super super slow and make sure foods are really moist. Adding sauces sometimes helps. -
how much weight did yall loose in a month?
BLERDgirl replied to Courtneyxo17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a fairly broad range and there are no guarantees whether you will be on the high end or low end. Some people lose lots, other actually gain weight from all the IV fluids. Expecting a big loss can be setting yourself up for a big disappointment. ETA: I lost 32lbs. 26 at my 2 week f/u and another 6 in the next 2 weeks. -
4 days post op and burn in esophagus and tummy
BLERDgirl replied to FlabbyNat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand that. What I'm saying is let him know what happened when you did swallow them and also see if there is something he might suggest you take to stop the burning you are currently feeling. Also he may want to switch you to a different PPI so the burning doesn't happen again. -

Call the doctor. You may not be ready to swallow your pills just yet. However he may be able to recommend something to alleviate the discomfort you're presently feeling. -
1 week out, vomiting and feeling horrible
BLERDgirl replied to ArtSmartInNH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DUH!! My bad, the title of the thread is "1 week out." Anyway. Try not to panic. It sounds like you are sliming aka drinking too fast and displacing saliva. Your new belly is still healing and the vomiting episode likely irritated things. You probably need to really slow down the drinking to nearly tiny little drops. If you can stand cold maybe even try ice ships instead. Don't rush it. Take the 24 hours and be really gentle with your belly. If you're still having trouble then follow doctor's orders and head to the ER. -

You may want to see if there is an informational seminar for these doctors. They would be able to answer payment and financing questions. -
Timeline for specific forum
BLERDgirl replied to briefs199's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
You do get a timeline but it takes a few more clicks. For example under the LAP - BAND main category you have to then choose between My Lap Band Surgery Journey Basics for Lap band Surgery Main LapBand surgery Forums Lap Band Support groups Choosing one of those topics does get you a current timeline under each sub topic. Then you have to go back to those sub topics and choose another timeline. I understand you just want one or 2 clicks to get to it, but the software doesn't work that way currently. It might be worth while to email @AlexBrecher about this. The only other option would be to use your phone's internet and go to the full version of the site. -
5 days post op and constantly hungry!

Likely a combination of acid, old habits and head hunger. Hang in there. It does go away and it really does get better. -
1 week out, vomiting and feeling horrible
BLERDgirl replied to ArtSmartInNH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't say how many days/weeks post-op you are. I doubt you've permanently damaged anything. You may just not have been ready for that soup and things are a little sore from the vomiting. Follow the doctor's advice. Sip super slow and see what happens. It's better to catch an issue earlier rather than later. -

"You'd be much prettier if you lost weight"
BLERDgirl replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm not talking about taking offense, I'm talking about not accepting it. That's how change happens. When people told women they could vote because women lacked the intelligence or were too emotional or whatever else BS women rose up and proved them wrong. I refuse to accept unjust treatment as "what it is" ever. Unconscious prejudice is still prejudice. If you want and feel you deserve respect you ave to let people know when they do something that's not okay. In this case, I would definitely have let that person know she was being rude. Otherwise people just go on offending. I just happen to believe that many more will take it as a learning opportunity and correct themselves. -
I understand now. There are many different protocols and people progress at many different rates. ALWAYS follow the protocol of your doctor. Eggs are one of those foods that either work or don't work. Some people can do them easily and others can't have them until many weeks, even months down the road.

It's a journey, not a destination
BLERDgirl replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@gowalking - Thank you! I was beginning to wonder if somehow they slipped something inside us that makes us suddenly impatient when they operate. So many of us seem to what super fast results even though we've been fat most of our lives. I sometimes catch myself doing this as well. Speaking for myself, I can honestly say it took 51 years of life to gain this weight. I don't need it to come off overnight and I shouldn't expect it. Each day I feel healthier and each day I need to remember to work my program. I'm now trying to notice the small things. I went on a Winery tour Saturday. There were 2 separate sets of stairs that a year ago I would have had to pause in the middle of climbing up/down that I was able to climb. I did it almost without thinking. That's a NSV that won't show on the scale. -
