Plain and BamBam.... Hi Guys! Thank you for your advice...I was getting pretty desperate as almost every meal for about 6 months has been uncomfortable. I has a fill of 2 ml, but had 0.5 ml taken out...twice. That leaves a fill of only 1 ml. It doesn't seem like that would make the band too tight, but, Plain you do have a point. I think I will follow BamBam's advice for a couple weeks. If I get no relief, I will go back to my doctor and follow Plain's advice and have another 0.5 ml removed. Both of you gave me some sound advice to go on and I thank you. Many thanks, : ) gini

Hi...I had my lap band 11/20/07 and initially lost 50 pounds, then I went on a stand still, literally. I have not gained, nor have I lost since April 2008. That is not my major problem, though. Most of my meals consist of "slippery" foods as regular Proteins such as chicken or hamburger stops up and causes discomfort and sometimes severe pain. When this happens I start hiccuping for a short time, then I start what I think you call productive burping along with slimy spit and continuous swallowing. Most of the time I can feel the food go through the band. It is an odd feeling, which I have come to associate with relief as I know the pain is soon to stop. It is not often that I vomit, but infrequently I do. Mostly it is about 10 minutes of misery. It is most disconcerting when this happens while I am at a restaurant or lunching with friends. This brings us back to my eating foods that slip right through to avoid these episodes. My surgeon says that I am just more sensitive. No one in my support group will cop to having these episodes. When I asked what PB was, they laughed and said, "Oh you'll know." Can any one help me? Does any one want to be my email buddy for support? Thanks PS Please ignore the ticker...I have forgotten how to edit or remove it.

Hi everyone It has been exactly one week since my lap band surgery and I am here to say that I am so glad I went through with it! I am not having a bit of trouble getting my protein (70 gm) or liquids (64 oz) in once I learned how to sip s-l-o-w-l-y. At first I was having horrid port site and back pain, especially in the evenings. After I realized it was because I was "over eating" and slowed down, I am doing great. I know I am supposed to stay off the scale for a while, but I couldn't resist this morning. Down 13 pounds!! :whoo: Well, I just wanted to offer encouragement for the pre-ops and just had surgery folks. Take care. : ) gini

OOPS!!!! I meant WorththeWeight...sorry about that!

HungryforChange, Yeah, I went back to Tickerfactory and read the instructions!! Ha! My surgeon and staff told me to get a minimum of 70 grams of protein per day...they said that if you get the protein, you won't get hungry. I use AnyWhey protein powder in all my soups...and I make a great drink with SF hot chocolate mix, Vanilla protein powder and cold water poured over ice. Lucky you to be getting malt o meal so soon...I still have a week to go on liquids. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. : ) gini Worth the Wait, I stayed in the hospital overnight and started on Darvocet that night. I was having bad chest and back pain, so I went for a walk and then took a couple Darvocet. I have not taken pain meds since I got home. I find that if I have belly/chest/or back discomfort, it is from "eating" too fast or a bit too much. I just walk around a bit, burp, and feel much better. Don't be afraid of the pain...mostly it is a soreness. I agree with the others you have talked with...Take your pain meds to stay on top of the pain, but not enough to be "gorked" out. You need to walk and move around! You will not regret your decision to have the surgery a few months from now as you are buying smaller clothes and fitting into chairs easier!! Keep me posted on how you are doing! : ) gini

Hi Hungryfor change! How are you doing with your liquid regimen? You didn't say in your reply. How did you get your weight loss on your ticker? I can't quite figure that out. :help: Thanks, : ) gini

Plateau already???? Can't be....
sweetH2Opearl replied to dream'n2bthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I would like to address the slow weight loss and hunger that you guys are experiencing. My surgeon has mandatory meetings that you must attend pre and post op. At every appointment with him and at all the meetings I have attended, plus the nutritionist I had to see...all of them stressed 64 0z of liquids per day and the more Protein the better...70 grams at least. They say that with the high protein you will not get hungry and you will lose weight faster. They also say that when I start introducing regular foods (Christmas Day!) to make 3/4 of what I eat protein and only a small spoonful of potatoes, etc. This will ensure an adequate protein intake. I hope this helps you guys and will keep me out of bandster's hell! -

Hi there! I had my lap band on November 20th and am doing really well except for the chest/back/shoulder gas pain. I am not having any trouble at all getting my 64 oz of liquids and am getting 70 plus grams of Protein a day. I have no appetite to speak of and have not experienced hunger yet. The liasion for my surgeon's office said that it is because I am doing so well on the protein. I have until Dec 4th on full liquids...then I start 2 weeks of "mushie" foods. I am very excited about this journey I am starting and I can hardly wait to see me a year from now! Take care, : ) gini

If you had to start again from the beginning...
sweetH2Opearl replied to dan.sm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! There is a product called Any Whey that is tasteless and odorless according to the nurse at our pre-op class. I am getting my band on Nov. 20th and have ordered quite a few of the protein supplements she recommended. I wanted to be totally prepared for the 2 days before and 2 weeks after liquid diet. : ) gini -
The address I just put down for you really is TickerFactory and it has alot of different things you can keep track of...including conceiving it seems!! LOL : ) gini

Assuming you meant the ticker to show the progress of your weight loss...go to Trying To Conceive Ticker and follow the instructions. Good luck, : ) gini

Hi!

I am having my lap band placed at CMH in Ventura, CA on November 20th. Sometimes I think I may have been a bit foolish for scheduling the surgery before the holidays. You know...temptation and all, but I am determined to make a go of it. Dr Helmuth Billy is going to do my surgery and I hear that he is the leading bariatric surgery doc in this area. I am an RN and Nursing Supervisor at our local hospital in Ojai. I am hoping to find a "Buddy" for this journey.
