    Gastritis

I suffer with gastritis same as you; same medications, too. I've been taking protonix since January because the omemprezole didn't work well. The Carafate is pretty awesome though. I don't have anything to offer in the way of advice, but I certainly empathize with your situation. Best of luck to you and your doctors to getting you feeling better.

    So I've noticed...

Here are a few comments I came across on a random blog I saw on Facebook regarding discussing weight.

    What now?

I'm here. I've made it. I hit all goals set. What the hell do I do now?! I just woke up. My first instinct is to strip off my pajamas, go pee then, weigh myself. It's what I've done everyday for months with excitement and anticipation. Now what? I don't want to lose anymore, so I'm not excited to go see if the number has gone down. I never thought about what I would do once I actually made it to goal. I don't want my weight or WLS to take up so much space in my head anymore.

    Hit goal today

@@Mandyctr I weighed 213 on November 4th, the day I had surgery. It took me 6 months and 1 day to get to my personal goal of 135. It took 2 more months and a week to get to the additional 11 pounds off . 124 really never was my goal, but it was kind of nice to be able to tell that app to shove it.

    Hit goal today

Thank you!! The two different leg colors is quite odd. Wondering if it's the lighting or if my right leg is really that much whiter. And on a totally different note... I can't for the life of me understand why my daughter can't figure out the difference between the sidewalk and the driveway for parking her car ????

    Hit goal today

My weight tracker app decided I should weigh 124.7 based on my height of 5'4", and I hit 124.6 this morning. Figured it was a good enough reason to put on some heels and go celebrate.

    So I've noticed...

Weight is a touchy subject, and women are complicated creatures. I know none of us would take kindly to anyone commenting on our weight when we're gaining it, and I feel like a lot of people also think that way about commenting on someone losing it. I had my surgery one day after you, and have lost right about the same amount as you, I think...from 213 down to 124. There's a huge difference in my appearance, yet almost no one acknowledges it. I am actually grateful for it. Even though I know that I look much better, if someone were to say that to me, I am pretty sure my crazy brain would go into overdrive with thoughts of "gosh, did I really look so bad before?" Yep, I think comments about weight - gain or loss - are best left unsaid. Except, of course, on here... Elode, you look fantastic!!!

    Goal?

I'm 5'4" and I picked my goal weight of 135 out of nowhere. My surgeon never gave me one. I have a weight tracker app that set my goal at 124.7 lbs. I am exactly 0.1 lb away from that ridiculous app's goal. Sitting at 124.8 today. I was happy at 135, but my body has kept losing. I guess it will stop when it's ready, and who knows where that will be. At 8 months out now, the pace of losing has slowed considerably.

    Why the sleeve?

My niece (in the dress) had gastric bypass May 2014. She has lost a little over 100 pounds. She's had zero complications. She is also now 16 weeks pregnant. This picture was taken last week. I had the sleeve done in November 2014. (that's me in the white tank) I have lost from 213 on day of surgery down to 125 today. I have had complications. My doctors (not the surgeon that actually performed my surgery) have said that my body just didn't react well to the surgery. They agree that the surgery went as planned, and that it is simply a case of my body reacting poorly to it. I believe that, as I have a neurological condition that causes my body to behave in all sorts or ridiculous ways. I think that my complications are not typical, and therefore should not be feared by most people considering sleeve gastrectomy. There are, of course, risks with any surgery. My niece and I both had WLS and we both have had weight loss success with the type of surgery we each chose. We were both self pay. Her surgery was $20,000, and included several nights included the hospital. Mine was $11,000, and was outpatient with the surgeon coming to see me for two days afterwards.

    Diverticulitis

I have. Mine was terrible. Ended up in ICU for a week with sepsis on New Year's Day this year. I was almost 2 months post op when it happened. Had another week long hospital stay beginning January 31st with it, gastritis, esophagitis, and I can't even remember what else. Surgeon wants me flare-up free and healthy for six months before he goes in to remove the bad part of my colon. I go for my next colonoscopy the first of August to see where I stand.

    Anyone else aggravated?

It's probably best to understand that everyone's body works a bit differently. My body loses weight when my carb intake is higher. If I don't get carbs in, you can bet that scale isn't going to move. Eat some baked cheetos and a roll of fruit flavored Mentos and another pound is off the scale the next morning for me. It's weird. I never have had to weigh or measure my foods because I have never been able to get enough in anyway, but I never stalled and have only just recently slowed down in the weight loss. I reached my goal of 135 from 213 at 6 months and am at 129 at 7 months. If things start to change further out, I will then reevaluate how and what I eat. For now, why change what works for me?

    Pro's & Con's of gastric sleeve surgery?

No one has mentioned the hair loss you've asked about. Yes! You do lose hair. From my own experience and from what I've seen from others, lots of hair is lost. I said screw it and chopped all of my terribly thin waist length hair off to an inch and a half long. Good thing I have boobs because you might not know I was a girl otherwise I do hear that the hair comes back, but I've only just hit a slowing down point in my weight loss 6 months out. I've lost all of the extra weight plus a few pounds so maybe I'll think about growing my hair back out. It'll only take about 10 years I also had quite a few complications with my sleeve and as my doctor said my body was just one of the few that didnt take very well to it. To say the least, my body was pissed!!! No more icu stays or hospital admits since February, so hooray for that! Even now I can't eat more than a couple of bites once a day, but I finally FINALLY am drinking and keeping down Water really well. Getting better one day at a time.
  13. It took me 6 months and 1 day. I just hit my goal this week on May 5th. Day of surgery I was 213, and today I am 135. Thrilled that those 78lbs are gone, hopefully never to return.

    Bladder

I'm sure no infections. I see doctors of constantly because of all the complications I have had so I know for sure that there's no infections going on. I'm assuming I've simply lost the muscle control there as well since I've lost it everywhere else. I have a neuromuscular movement disorder, so that very well may be taking a toll on my bladder now. Surely the boat load of muscle relaxers my neurologist has me on can't be helping. Just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this before I resigned myself to the fact that my neuro stuff was getting worse even though I knew it was. *sigh* At least I have a lot less weight on my body now when my muscles stop working and I fall to the ground. Makes for a lot less heavy fall

    Bladder

So I'm beginning to wonder if my surgeon decided to take as much of my bladder with him as he did my stomach...and made it dysfunctional in the process. Seriously, anyone having baby bladder issues? I'm not drinking very much. Never have been able to come close to the required amount. Just a 15 oz protein shake and a 20 oz bottle of water is all I get in in a day except on a rare occasion when I have two shakes. (I know that's a whole separate issue, but I'm doing ok per my doc as of right now.) Point is, my bladder thinks I need to pee every three minutes (not really that often, but a lot). And if I don't go, it's going to just go for me. It will literally let itself go with absolutely no warning and without me even knowing I needed to go. I have no infections or irritations, so I can't figure out why this is happening. I'll tell you it sure is sexy walking around with a paper towel between my legs to prevent embarrassing mishaps while in public. Forget Victoria ' s Secret. Show me the Depends!
