Dr. Huacuz had us start on liquids with the protein powder added as soon as possible and I am really glad - I could feel the lack of protein - headaches. we started with our mushies in the form of jello, cottage cheese(yummy) and the like. The other thing to stress is chew chew chew - even if it does not seem like you need to .

My dad and I are banded and recovering - we are walking and eating liquids and mushies. pain is not bad at all really.

My Dad and I are home and we are banded!!!! Dr. Huacuz and his staff was completely awesome - we feel great. We are still a bit sore but we are taking in liquids/mushies and doing well. Walking helps a lot with managing the stitches and pain. We are both completely amazed by the feeling of not being hungry. We really do not even think about food like we used to. I know that a lot of this is because it is all new and I am sure the honeymoon will be over at some point and I will be ready for it when it happens - but for right now we are doing very well just 4 days out of surgery.

I'm in - I am a 40 yr. old divorced mother of two sons - both in the military. I am being banded tomorrow with my Dad! I work as a claims adjuster. I never had a weight problem until after my kids were born - then I just got bigger and bigger - I am really getting nervous now!!

I'm in - I am 40 years old , divorced mother of two grown sons - one is in the Air Force and one in the Army. I was a very thin kid and young adult. Had my kids and the hips and butt went in opposite directions. I never seemed to stop after that. I am 5'8 and "big -boned" , but the weight just kept piling on I currently weigh 269. I work as an insurance claims adjuster for my fathers company. He is getting banded tomorrow with me. I am pretty frustrated right now because my sinuses have suddenly went haywire- I have a runny nose and sneezing constantly, so I put in a call to my Doc. I am getting really nervous about tomorrow...and I am hopeless at trying to get a ticker or the merry loser banner on to my posts, but I still am proud to be a MERRY LOSER! - Chienne aka Stef

WOW - I so feel for you. You are very lucky that you had a great surgeon and he recognized the limitations. I had gall bladder surgery- but it was laparoscopic. You must be going through a tidal wave of emotions. Stay with us for support- you are a merry loser!

Best wishes to you - everything will be fine - I know how you feel - I am up tomorrow - and my knees are knocking!!!

How are you feeling as date approaches?
Chienne replied to Jonesy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was really impressed at how filling the consomme is - it is heartier than just broth. My dad and I find that it is easier if we have hard candy to suck on and if we have some hot tea with us to sip all of the time- Keep your spirits up! -

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the Holidays. My Dad and I go to surgery Wednesday morning. We started our pre-op diet Sunday. I am getting very nervous! I also have never felt more sure about a decision in my life. I know this is the right thing for both of us. We are getting a lot of support from almost everyone - except for my mom! She thinks we are nuts. She has never had the weight problem we have though. Well - that is it for now - just thought I would check in! -
It didn't work.

I do not know what this is . I will begin stocking up for my Dad and I this week. Can any of you tell me what this is? My Docs' staff sent me all kinds of recipes and ideas for the diet using foodstuffs already normally in your kitchen..... :hungry:

Am I the only one who is paying cash?
Chienne replied to benson1029's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are not alone. My Dad and I are paying cash because we feel the same way - we have to do something and insurance will not pay for it. -

Mexico versus US for cash patients
Chienne replied to socaldixiegal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We have investigated many different programs. We are going with Huacuz surgical center in mexico. Dr. Huacuz is certified in the US and Mexico, I have talked with many of his patients. He has also called us personally to discuss the procedure. I really liked how they have everything arranged from picking us up at home the day of the surgery to our meds, our return and our fills with a dr. close by. you can find out more about him at huacuz.com - the cost is less than half of the US price for the entire package I just described. -
