  1. Good for you! The first two weeks you tend to drop a lot of water weight. Depending on your weight, they say the first 10-20 lbs is water weight. It's normal. Then it slows down to about 1-5 lbs per week. Make sure you get that protein in though, and plenty of liquids. You don't want to end up dehydrated and with your hair falling out. I, for one, was getting maybe 20 oz of water in a day (counting 2 protein shakes made with water) and started getting very dizzy and strong migraines...I was getting dehydrated really bad. I upped my water intake using lemon ice tea crystal light, because water tasted gross to me after surgery, and I began to feel better within a day.

Weigh in today I'm under 200

Wooohooooo!!! Congrats on making it to one-derland!!!! I can't wait to be there! Keep up the hard work!
  3. You look great! There is def a big difference in your face and tummy! Sometimes we're our harshest critics! Your back looks good too, and your butt did shrink a little! I'd happy to keep most of my butt! =)

    Odd sensation...

Yup sounds like acid reflux! Fun, isn't it?! Lol Tums should work. Hope it goes away soon; it can be very annoying.

Has weight loss/surgery turned me crazy?

I can't speak for everyone, but I myself was sleeved 4 weeks ago today, and yes, I am very short tempered as of late, get offended very easily and lash out with something fierce. Not happy about it, idk if it's that our hormones are out of wack, or what, but it's definitely not cool.

    Stretching your Sleeve?

@@winter1023 I'm also at a stall this week. Sucks, but since I hear it's normal I'm trying not to freak out.

How do I update my profile?

I changed my info on the actual site, not the mobile site, but you can access it from your phone.
  9. Since the day I came home I've cooked for my husband and kids. The first few time was rough for all of us because I wasn't sitting at the table, and I didn't want to, either, because I was a little upset I couldn't eat... head hunger sucks =/ But it gets easier and better. I'm only 3 weeks out so I still can't eat much, but it doesn't bother me anymore, especially since I don't feel hungry.
  10. Keep them around, your taste may change after surgery. I know mine did. I didn't like Premier before surgery. Like you, I didn't like the fake sweet taste either, but now they're not bad. I also use Syntrax Nectar Triple Truffle. It's a whey isolate so it mixes with water very easily. I just put a scoop in a bottle, shake it and I'm ready to go! It doesn't clump or separate, and tastes great (to me)!
  11. The only one I really like is Syntrax Nectar Sweet Chocolate Truffle (23g protein per scoop 100 cals - Vitamin Shoppe sells single serving packets). Premier tastes ok, but not as good, to me- 30 protein 160 cals from BJ's or Costco. Your taste really does change post-op.
  12. I use Syntrax Nectar Triple Truffle and premier protein shakes. I get mine at BJ's
  13. @@Countrygrrl, that's great!!! So far, so good!! I'm down 21 lbs as of today, since sleeve, 30 since pre-op diet! How about you?! My 22 skinny jeans were falling off me the other day! They hadn't fit for about 6 months!!! Isn't it an awesome feeling!? That was the biggest size I ever bought. After I grew out of them, I didn't bother buying pants anymore.
  14. @@sleevie.wonder! We have similar stats, 5'10", got sleeved at 333, 3 weeks ago today! You look wonderful! What are your workouts like?! My goal is 170, also!

I just opened up a mfp account, sleeved 12/29. I don't know how to add friend. My name on mfp is Cedes3413
  17. Initially I didn't want anyone(but family) to know, but I didn't want rumors to start flying around. I work in a dept with 11 other people. One day, during break time I just started talking about it and let them all know sat the same time. A 15 minute break turned into almost an hour, because of course everyone had questions, but everyone was very supportive and happy for me. I also told a few close friends, but have chosen to not tell select few, negative & jealous people who are not important or too active in my life.

    Newbie on board with questions!

Btw, I'm sorry, I didn't realize this post was under bypass! Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision!

    Newbie on board with questions!

It is a safer and less complex operation, limits ingestion of food and hunger by getting rid of ghrelin( the hunger hormone), you still have a natural digestion that doesn’t cause nutritional deficiencies typically associated with gastric bypass (I'm severely anemic and need all the iron I can get) and it keeps the small intestine and pyloric valve intact. You can lose just as much with a sleeve as you can with bypass, some people lose it just as quickly, too! These are just a few of the reasons I chose to get sleeved! I'm loving my sleeve so far!! =)

    Newbie on board with questions!

I only got sleeved 12/29, but I'm down 23 lbs post op (32 if you can't the 1 week pre-op diet), my blood pressure is now under control. I was borderline diabetic, but my sugar levels have been great since the first week! I get tested for my hypothyroidism at thr end of the month, but I can tell you that my energy level, already, is through the roof! My knees no longer hurt when going down or up the stairs. My asthma hasn't acted up yet, either! I also have 5 herniated discs between my lower back and my neck that stopped bothering me after losing just 15 lbs! As far as food, it will be tough at first, having to only have liquids, purees then soft foods, but that to shall pass and you'll be able to eat again in no time, except afterwards you will get full after just a tiny bit, which I find awesome! Food no longer owns me, and that, by itself, is a huge victory for me!

What's the story behind your profile name?

Everyone in my family calls me Mama, but since I'm a big girl, I decided on Big Mama, no affiliation with the character in the movie lol!

    Vomited, now in pain!

Thankfully it was nothing. The Dr. said I probably pulled a stitch at the muscle by my belly button, and to just ice it and take Tylenol. I felt much better the day after.
