  1. Regardless of what surgery you have, you have to work at it. My best friend's mother had bypass @ almost 400 lbs, got down to about 180 and is back over 300. The surgery will only work if you stick to the plan. I got the sleeve because I didn't want my intestines rerouted, I can only get down 4 oz at a time, and have lost 51 lbs in 7 weeks. I'm happy with my decision. My Dr's goal for me is 195 lbs, my goal is 170. You should do lots of research on both surgeries before making a concrete decision. As far as hunger, you still feel hunger with any surgery, but you do get full with a small amount of food. Best of luck on your journey!

    Crazy cravings and snacks?

I used to hate seafood, and now I crave it constantly. I'm 7 weeks out and I've eaten fish three times! That's a lot for someone who avoided seafood at all cost my entire life!

    December sleevers

12/29 here- feeling great! Down 45 lbs, but best of all the pain in my lower back and knees is gone! I still have a hard time getting in all my fluids, but I'm working on it. Also need to learn how to eat slower because if I eat too quick, it comes back up within a few minutes =/

    Weaning off caffeine...

I had coffee up until the day before, and started having coffee again a week out. No decaf, regular coffee. My Dr. said I'm allowed a cup a day, and I enjoy every bit of it! Lol

    Sleeve or Bypass? Help!

Btw, I was also a sweet addict, and I hardly crave sweets anymore since surgery. When I do crave it, I make myself a protein shake, and I'm good!!

    Sleeve or Bypass? Help!

The decision is completely yours. I suggest you research both. Bypass still allows you to eat sweets, so does the sleeve and any other surgery. You have to be strong enough to know when enough is enough. I've seen people gain back almost all their weight with bypass, and eat like they never had surgery. As they say in the seminars, WLS is just a tool. The success you have all depends on you. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago, tomorrow, and I'm down 45 lbs. I chose the sleeve because I didn't want complete mal-absorption of vitamins, re-routing of intestines and I wanted to be able to eat just the right portion of foods. The sleeve gave me just that. I'm happy with my choice!

    Dec 29th sleevers ?

My NUT told me to try thinly sliced bread, like sandwich thins, toasted, because thick bread can make you choke. I tried it yesterday and was able to get down less than half of one.
  12. Ugh the same thing happened to me. But I bet if you measure yourself and compare to your measurements before surgery you've lost a few inches. Stalls suck, but they do happen, unfortunately! Congrats on the 19 lbs in 2 weeks! That's great!!

    Advice, help, PAIN!

Are you on an all liquid diet? If so, are you drinking 100% juices? Are you diluting them enough? This happened to me the first day I got home because I wasn't diluting my juice enough. The sugar in the juice gave me the runs. I hope you get better soon, it can really dehydrate you.
  15. 4 oz tops, is all I can fit, but I had the sleeve done.
  16. Nope, aside from a little soreness during the recovery, things went great!
  17. I'd be happy with a size 10. I never had surgery to be skinny, I did it to get to a healthy weight and size.

    Odd sensation...

Glad you got something for it. I was talking to a girl, who was walking the halls at the hospital with me that was sleeved same day as I, when I went for my 4 week check up on Thursday. She ended up in the hospital for 10 days because she called the Dr saying she was in pain. Turned out she had acid reflux that went untreated and ended up with a gastric leak... the acid ate right through a staple!! Scary stuff!!!

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Also, I can't really drink pain water. It tasting awful to me after surgery. I was only getting maybe 2 bottled of water in, that slowed down weightloss as well. I bought the concentrated lemon ice tea crystal light (0 cals, sugar and carbs) and now I'm dropping again. So maybe you can try flavoring your water to help you get more in. I tried the individual packets of crystal light and hate it, but to me, the concentrated small bottle was so much better. Hope this can help you get in more fluids.

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

@@msladyjj44, I was sleeved 12/29, & was also in a stall for week 3 and part of week 4. It's said to be normal. I took measurements, and much to my surprise I had lost 18 1/2" in those 3 weeks. I noticed I was shrinking, but the scale wasn't moving. It's your body's way of catching up with the weight loss. As for the pains in your stomach, does it feel like hunger, acid reflux or really pain? At my 4 week check up, a young lady, who had been sleeved in the hospital the same day as I, was telling me that she kept feeling a pain in her stomach and after a few days she called the Dr and he sent her straight to the hospital. Turns out she had a small gastric leak from acid reflux that had gone untreated. I'm not saying this to scare you, but to just make you aware that it can still happen up to 8 weeks out, until your stomach is fully healed.

    Normal?

Being iffy about it is normal! I know I def. was! I obsessed about every aspect of the surgery for 2 months, I couldn't sleep, and when I did, I would dream about the surgery, when I was up I was researching pros/cons. I even almost backed out when I saw I lost 9 lbs during 3 days of liquids before surgery, then I thought to myself, 'I've been here before, I'll end up gaining it back...it's only a matter of time, it's happened way too often.' The first two weeks I thought it was the biggest mistake of my life, because I was miserable on the liquid diet!!! But once I started eating again, I was as happy as can be. I'm only 5 weeks out, and I thought I'd miss food so much that I'd cry! And I did!!! I cried out of happiness, knowing I was no longer a slave to food!!! I was the happiest woman in the world the day I sat down with a 4 oz plate of food and couldn't finish it all!!!! I was ecstatic when my pants started falling off me!!! Stepping on the scale and seeing the numbers going down, instead of climbing, for a change is an indescribable feeling. I know I'm only 5 weeks out, but it's one of the best decisions I ever made.
  24. A cup seems like a lot. I can barely eat 4 oz, I'll be 5 weeks out on Monday. Definitely fill up on protein first, then veggies. My NUT suggested I eat 40 g of carbs: 80 grams of protein. I'm trying to stick to that, but it's hard to get all those carbs in so far. I'm still in soft foods. It's funny how different Dr. have such different diets. She also told me that if at any point I feel like I'm eating too much, to go back to just liquids for 3-5 days, to kind of restart/reset my pouch. Maybe that could help you out...
