Only loss 10pds in 4 weeks

Be careful to not be drinking your calories. Stick to your Dr's dietary exercise plan to a T and don't fret, the weight will start coming off. Our bodies go into starvation mode and hold old to every calorie you ingest out of fear it won't get anymore.

    How long does it last?

Ugh that's a terrible feeling!!!! This week I downloaded an app recommended on this site called Eat Slower, and it's really helped me slow down. Because of the app, I've actually been able to hold down meats this passed week.
  5. I remember you posting this last month and me thinking 'I can't wait til I'm down 50 lbs!!' And here I am! 8 1/2 weeks out, currently down 55 lbs as of today! I took this pic on Monday though, down 52! I remember losing 50 in the past and it not seeming as drastic. I still have a long way to go, but it's a start and I HAVE A WAIST THAT GOES INWARD FINALLLLLLLLY! LOL Can't wait to see you post some pictures!!

    Before and After Pics

@@sweeteyes504 Congrats on your accomplishments so far! That's great! I'm 5'10" my HW was 368, SW was 333, in the before pic I was 342, I did a 3 day liquid diet before surgery. I hit that dreaded 3 week stall, and stalled again last week. As far as eating, I just starting holding down meat after downloading an app recommended on this forum called Eat Slower. A typically day for me would be BF is usually a premier protein shake, lunch a small chilli (the only 'meat' I could keep down since week 4) and dinner a quarter of an avocado with a little Evoo and balsamic vinegar. Now that in adding 2 oz of chicken, the avocado slice is smaller, but I still can't eat it all. I'd be lying if I told you I get all my fluids in, I try, but 36 Oz seems to be my max. I have a 16 oz coffee every morning, regular caff, with skim milk too. As far as exercise, my office is very fast paced, so I'm running around there for 7 hours a day, hit the gym after work for an hour for a little more cardio. I just began strength training again on Monday, so I'm at the gym a little longer now. My son does judo 3 x's a week, so on those days, I hit the mini gym at the judo center to do an hour of rowing. Saturdays and Sundays are cleaning and family days, so they are my rest days.
  8. The Dr's office called me with all the info. Congratulations and good luck!

    Gym

I was cleared for walking/biking/elliptical the day after surgery, but had to wait 8 weeks, which was just yesterday, for strength training.
  10. @@slimisin 34 lbs sounds pretty good to me. Look at it this way, 58÷34= approx 1.7 lbs a day! That's awesome!! Be proud of what you've accomplished so far! You're doing great!
  11. Seems like you might have overdid it. I did the same thing a few days post op, and again about a week later. Dr's say you shouldn't engage your core at all for the first 8 weeks. I have a tendency of tensing my tummy, and I would bend and turn this way, which caused me to pull some stomach muscles, which hurt like a b!+€#!!! I took the pain meds, used an ice pack and felt a bit better the next day. You just had major surgery, so you really do need to take it easy... easier said than done, I know, but just try to slow down a bit. Hope you feel better soon.

I was sleeved 12/29, down 52 lbs. So far. I'm still a work in progress, as I want to lose another 120 lbs, but hey, it's a start... I'll call this before and during!! Don't mind the crying smile, it was Christmas Day and I was very excited and emotional!!! lol

5'9 women what was your goal weight?

@@jess9395, I say 'ironically enough I didn't do it to be thin, but to be healthier' because others usually assume we WLS patients do it to be skinny.

    December sleevers

Lol I hear you! I weigh myself constantly. Before & after. .. I use the bathroom, shower, eat, with and without clothes.. practically every time I'm in the bathroom! =/ I'm obsessed with it, it's horrible! I won't weight myself at the gym though, because that scale is off! Lol

    December sleevers

@@krismess8980 I'm also on my second stall =( been at the same weight for a week and 3 days. I've been cleared to eat all foods, but still can't hold down much meat/poultry, and tend to eat mainly soft foods because I have a hard time with hard foods.

    Easter's Challenge

Start weight 291, goal weight 275. Been at a stall all week, hoping it doesn't last much longer. Tomorrow marks 8 weeks out. Hope you get your power back soon.

    Nervous! Surgery 2/23

Good luck! Everyone is different. I was very nauseous and threw up as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia, but really didn't have much gas at all. I was able to walk immediately after getting to my room, and was able to drink the next day with no problem, and went home by 5. Only took pain meds once, after I came home, and it was after my baby jumped on my tummy. What I do recommend is some chapstick, as your lips will be super dry after surgery.
  19. Wow!! You go girl!! You look great!

5'9 women what was your goal weight?

I'm 5'10", my goal weight is 170. Ironically, I didn't have surgery to be thin, I did it to try to get healthier.
  21. I was sleeved 12/29. I was cleared to eat toasted bread @6 weeks. I buy Arnolds Sandwich Thins, thin round bread, 100 cals each. Dr said to always pair my bread with a protein, so I can only eat(fit) 1/2 of one with a poached egg & still leave some. Meat also makes me sick. I can't keep down deli meats, ground beef, chicken ..any meat! =( I know I definitely have a problem with eating too quickly, and that's probably why I can't keep it down. I try to slow down, but no matter how slow I eat, I'm still done in under 15 minutes, and a few minutes later, I'm up-chucking! It sucks!
  22. Hi @@HMR! I was sleeved 12/29, down 51 from 3 day pre-op, 42 since surgery. I too feel nauseous frequently, mainly when I drink water. I can't keep down any form of meat so far. =( whether it's deli turkey, ground beef or chicken it comes up within minutes of going down. I'm scared to eat I'd I'm not home, for this reason, and constantly carry around yogurt and protein shakes.
  23. I completely understand. I was what we call a bottomless barrel! Lol I could eat all day without feeling full, which is how I got up to my highest weight of 368 lbs =/ I can no longer eat anywhere near as much as I used to. 4 oz and I'm stuffed! There are days I forget to eat and have to drink a quick protein shake before bed to make sure I get in my protein for the day. The majority of the hunger hormone, gherlin, is cut out during surgery, making you feel less hunger instantly. I thought I was going to wake up hungry being that I hadn't eaten anything since the night before, and nope! I was drinking fluids because I had to, I didn't want to end up back in the hospital due to dehydration. Same goes with food! I even set alarms to remind me to eat, because I can go all day with my morning protein, but I wouldn't meet my requirements for the day. Sometimes I'm busy and silence my alarm, only to realize after I put the kids to bed, and I'm about to catch a show on TV that I forgot to eat. Both surgeries ate great, both will help you lose the weight you need to lose, but ultimately your success will be all on you. With either you can stretch your stomach beck out. The sleeve had only been around 5-6 years and I have heard of people gaining back 5-20 lbs, but haven't seen anyone gain back drastically. Do searcheson this site, it's very informative! There actually is a thread where someone asks if you gain back weight after the sleeve. Do the same search for bypass. This site helped me choose between the two surgeries also. There are many ups and downs for both, and it's not the easiest decision to make. Best of luck!
  24. @@Mel24 I'm with you on that one! I want to be 170, but anything under 200 and/or a size 10, and I'll be happy (5'10")
