Need a buddy for a surgery date of 5/31/16
Missjaqui replied to redgoddess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my surgery was on May 31st, just a little over 5 weeks ago. I am feeling more like myself now. Trying to get the Water in and the calories up. I have been averaging 500 to 600 calories a day this week. Definitely headed in right direction. Saw the dr yesterday and was told to get my caloric intake up as well as my Protein. Thank you for asking. Did you have the surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Seems like you are doing pretty good now. Are you getting more support from your family now as well? Yes I had my surgery back in 2012. I lost about 100 in total and I am working to take another 20 off. That's a tough 20 to get off that's for sure. -
Should I Date Another Sleever? (Dfw Area Guy)
Missjaqui replied to Gone's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think finding another sleever or someone who has had weight loss surgery in general would be great. I haven't though. I am really open about me having it done and nearly everyone has been supportive which is great. -

Plastic Surgery Terms for Weight Loss Patients
Missjaqui replied to New Hope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had a consult with a plastic surgeon about a year ago now about a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck. I thought that I could get by with just a standard tummy tuck but boy was I mistaken. I learned that I would need what was called a lower body lift. This requires a full incision around your waist (right at your bely button all the way around) in order to remove the extra skin from around that section. What the results would be is tightening and flattening out that tummy area along with lifting your thighs and butt a bit. I am definitely going to so this in the future I just need to loose about 20 more pounds and save up some money for it as it is a big costly. I would love to donate the extra skin that I do have to a burn center and I will be looking into that when the time comes. As for the other surgery, I got that done in January, and could not be more happy with them. My doctor says they are perfect and have settled amazingly. It is quite the confidence booster and I am really excited about everything else in the future. -
For my 20 something ladies!

My skin didnt snap back as I have hoped, so somewhere in the future I am going to get a lower body lift done. As for my breasts, they disappeared and became small and pretty deflated, so I had a breast aug done about 3 months ago. -
Absolutely! I am 25 as well soon to be 26 and had the sleeve done over 3 years ago now. If you have any questions or just need someone to talk to shoot me a message!

Honestly in my case my skin didnt firm, even as much as I tried to keep up with working out. I heard of a lot of 'at home' things people do to try to tighten it back up but nope. My surgeons told me dont even think about getting plastic surgery until 2 years after. And plastic surgeons want your weight to be stable for as long as possible otherwise its like doing the work for nothing. I am working on getting a lower body lift to take care of my extra skin. It will happen eventually its just a matter of getting all the funds in order and at least trying to get insurance to cover it.

Serious question seeks serious answer!
Missjaqui replied to LonghornNiner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To me, before surgery I was with a variety of partners and it really depended on the people. I definitely did not want to be fetishized at all that was my biggest thing. Now after surgery I tend to date people that are thinner, ansd fitter I would say. Again to me it is just about who I click with. My biggest obstacle is finding someone taller than me which is one thing that I seem to be unwavering about. -
When i woke up from surgery I told them I had no pain to which they looked at me like I was insane and actually argued with me about it and said I had to be in pain considering I had the surgery along with a hernia repair at the same time. I was insistant that all i felt was pressure, and so they gave me plenty of drugs for the pressure I was feeling. I was walking in less that 2 hours afterwards and normal walking at a quick pace, not slowed at all. I say it is possible to have no pain after it, some of us have higher tolerances than others.

When I was looking into WLS I went to a seminar that the DR provided as an overview to all of the procedures. I went in dead set that I wanted the LAP Band and after the seminar and talking to people both there and online I found that the sleeve was the better option for me. The surgeon I went to had a very low complication stat with the sleeve surgery, and he explained it was because of his surgical technique. The only complication or negative affect I have had from it was some heartburn here and there which is not very fun but it is livable, and lactose intolerance now, which again is livable. Check into surgeons you are considering and find out their stats on leakage and other complications from surgery. Most of the time complications arise from people not following the diet plan correctly. To me that was really important and really afterwards your body will really tell you what is right and wrong.

To exercise or not to exercise.......
Missjaqui replied to yungshi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgeon said I couldn't work out at all for 6-8 weeks after, part of that due to a hernia repair at the same time. I did try a light workout about 3 weeks after thinking that it would be fine and boy did I regret that, hurt so much. But I walked soooooooooo much during that time, pretty much like 2 or more miles a day and that really helped a lot. -
