    Non-Scale Victories!!

Well Friends, I just returned from a trip East from AZ. Saw many people who had not seen me since last fall. Comments were astounding. 1. You look like AZ agrees with you 2. Are you on diet? 3. WOW your hands are smaller! 4. Hey where is your wedding ring? It fell off! 5. Your face just looks different. Face Lift? NO 6. My son: You seem so much happier! 7. My grandaughter: Mimi can you take a walk with me: YES 8. My daughter in law: heard you can jog 30 minutes at 3.5 mile, You go girl! I could keep up with my family at all the graduation activities. No sore legs, no sore feet, stayed up with the best of the college graduates. Best party I have thrown in years and loved every minute of it. Wore clothes I had not had on in 5 years! Keep sharing it is inspiring and really helps. TIP: We ate out alot, my trick was to get the highest Protein appetizer on the menu and believe me I never finished it, but got in all my protein and then quit! Hubby was so proud and he showed it!

    New 60+ Thread

I make it a habit to not eat bread, rice, starches, UNLESS I am out and it is served as part of the meal. I find I do not crave any carbs since having the lapband done. So I feel lucky that I do not have hunger and no cravings. I am now 3.5 month out and just had my second fill of 2 cc's. Went out to lunch after with a friend and had a salad with a piece of italian bread, (I always chew really well) did not have any problems, but I know others have not been so lucky. Follow the program and you will become aware of your stomach and what you as a lapbander can tolerate. Best of luck.
  3. You Go Girl, We Are All Behind You And I For One Would Write A Letter For You To Bcbs As To How It Has Made A Difference In My Life In Just 3 Months!
  4. First let me tell you I was denied by BCBS of MN. What I was told was I needed to work with my primary to loose weight for 12 months. I then was told that when I went on Medicare I could apply after 6 months, and if they okayed it then I could have it done. Long story short, if you have co morbidities: diabetes, heart problems, lung problems, joint problems, high blood pressure and your primary will write to BCBS this might help your case. Just keep bugging the bcbs office to ask them in what cases this has been allowed. Good luck

Protein My doctor required me to try for 60 grams divided by 3 meals of no more then 20 minutes at a time . Also no Water 30 minutes before or after. I am now almost 3 month post op and try really hard to reach 80-90 grams per day now. It can be challenging. REMEMBER to take you Vitamins and Calcium citrate also. In a 2 month period you really start to see the difference in protein, vitamins and calcium. Best of luck.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Yeh, that is a man thing, my husband walked by me at the desk yesterday and started shaking his head. I said "What" his response,: "your face is thinner and you makeup looks good." Well same makeup, no change there so I must look thinner in the face at least. Still waiting for my size 18 to start to fall off so I can buy 14's or 16's. ONE day at a time. So glad to hear all of you sharing your WLS/ NSV, it shows solidarity and the best support we can give each other. Off to plant trees in back yard, have a great day! Local Tree frog

Maybe they can recommend a place that has Pool Therapy if they do not have it themselves. I found on internet (HYDROWORX.com) maybe they can refer you to a facility near you. I am off to do my hour or so now. Have a great day all of you! Where is the rest of the gang! We need some updates to see how everyone is doing!

Phyll, I asked my cardio doctor to write a RX for me to go to Physical Therapy (so I could get trained to do the exercises correctly for at least a month. Since Medicare would pay for that: then my therapist requested an additional month and Medicare Okayed that also, now they are going to request another month and if I am lucky I will continue, if not then membership is only 60.00/month so I will continue to have access to pool treadmill and Athletic trainer for $60 a month.) The one who has an underwater Treadmill. It is no stress on knees and is fun to go into. It is called a HydroWorx treadmill. You can probably only find one in PT facility.

I still have not found my sweet spot but still not hungry either. I know I am controling the food mentally not with the band. I try to listen to my stomach instead of my head so when I am aware I am full, I lay fork down and STOP. But I know I can eat way more then I am and am anxious to go back for my second fill in May. (actually tried to eat more and had no side effects) Since my DR says that I should be having the LB do the work not me. Still staying on Low Carb/High Protein food. This seems to work for me. We went to NV for weekend to visit family, lots of eatting out, but I really didn't eat much, just ate some off my DH plate and enjoyed the company. Everyone was kind and didn't try to encourage me to eat more. Did have a Gin and Tonic, first since last year Sept. But nursed it and waited for the fizz to die. It was a treat, but not one I will repeat very often. My goal is to continue to jog on the underwater treadmill at 3 mph for 30-50 minutes 3 time a week, and do aqua aerobics for 45 minutes 3 times a week. As soon as cardio doctor clears me for more, to start to build weight training on regular equipment. BUT I do like working out in the pool best of all. Have been taking vitamins, calcium citrate and getting 15 minutes of sun without sun glasses to get my Vitamin D. Notice my legs are getting sort of loose so need to really work on those flabbies! But all in all am so Happy started on this journey.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I had to replace my wedding ring a second time down from size 8 1/2 to a 7 now. Target is doing a great business on me and rings, New shoes down a size are now loose. When I reach goal I will have wedding ring sized, but not till then Pants are baggy and tops are 2 sizes smaller. I bought some on sale last fall 3 sizes smaller then I was then wearing and now they are large. I don't think I am loosing so much in pounds but am building muscle and dropping fat. I only weigh myself at doctor's office when I go for checkup or fill, since I have "scale phobia" My son says I sound so upbeat on the phone he can tell I am having a ball and enjoying life more. We live 1500 miles apart, so only talk on phone.

    January Surgery Dates

For me right now, when I feel full or simply not hungry anymore. I do not seem to have any restriction just not eating for more then 20 minutes is first key. Second is when I have eaten approximately one cup of food. While I know we are not suppose to count calories I do look at portion size and grams of protein when I eat. so I do try to include 20-30 grams per meal.
