My name is Cindy. I have struggled most of my life with my weight. I'm the youngest of 3 kids and I've always been the heaviest. In 2008 I found out why I have always struggled with my weight. My doctor was always checking my thyroid and never found anything wrong. In 2008 my best friend realized I had sleep apnea so when I had it checked out it turned out that I had thyroid cancer along with Hashimoto disease so that never helped the fact that both sides of my family had people struggling with their weight. When I found out my knees have early osteoarthritis and on my right knee the bone is wearing away at the meniscus I thought long and hard about the fact an orthopedic surgeon would reject me for knee replacement because of my weight. That's when I knew it was time to get more help. It took me a year to get through the process and I had gastric bypass on 10/21/14. This is a new beginning for me and so far it's been an experience. I have hard days and good days. Right now I'm on the pureed meal plan and I am so sick and tired of having the protein shake. Waiting for the soft meal plan so I can do away with the protein shake and hopefully never have to drink another one ever again!
