  1. Thank you for posting about your experience. I'm thrilled for you that everything went so well! My surgery date with Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Elmo in Tijuana is scheduled for March 20th, and I can't wait. How many other patients did they have getting surgery while you were there? What time did you get to the airport after being released from the hospital? I'm trying to decide which return flight would be best for me to come home on. Are you having difficulty with any particular foods? Congratulations!!! I can't wait to follow your continued successes.
  2. YES!! It would be wonderful! My acid reflux issues played a big part in my choice of the mini-gastric bypass, which will be after the first of the year. The MGB and the RNY are both said to greatly reduce/eliminate acid reflux problems while the sleeve is known to increase/cause GERD issues.
  3. From everything I've read, the MGB and the RNY can reduce/eliminate GERD issues while the sleeve can cause/intensify them. That's one of the main reasons I chose the MGB over the sleeve. (My surgery won't be until after the first of the year so I can't offer my experience with post-surgery GERD just yet).
  4. I'm so glad you had a good experience with Dr. Rod. He does sound really nice. His whole team does, actually. How are your swelling and complications coming along? Are they almost resolved? Did you have to stay in Mexico longer than planned? Or did you have to go to the hospital when you got home? Were your complications mostly from the swelling? I'll be going by myself and I'm a little nervous still about everything.
  5. Do you still have your gall bladder?

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

It sounds like you're doing pretty well with the GENEPRO. I've read so many good reviews on it that I decided to go ahead and purchase a couple of sample packets so I can give it a try. Hearing good results like yours really makes me hope it works well for me. I'd like to have one Protein supplement that will work in most anything I want to put it in. May I ask....what kinds of problems are you having with meat? I haven't had my surgery yet, and it hadn't occurred to me that there could be problems with eating meat afterward. I've always been a meat and potatoes person who eats meat with every meal.
  7. @@carolk36 That would be great, thank you. I've been reading a lot of good things about it so I decided to at least order a couple of sample packets to try out the flavor and texture. I was just looking at your stats - you're doing GREAT!! Congratulations!
  8. I had the same question as the OP about GENEPRO. Has anyone actually had blood work done to check their Protein levels since starting on Genepro? I mean lab results from your own doctor that show it works as they claim it does? I'm interested, but their claims sound too good to be true. I don't want to take it thinking I'm getting the protein my body needs after bypass surgery and then find out it's all a sham. But I haven't seen one review yet that's supported by factual evidence of protein levels in the body after taking the product for any length of time. Have you had any other noticeable results (or problems) since you started taking Genepro?

  11. It sounds like everyone is really having great results - congratulations!! It's been a few weeks since updates were posted. Anyone care to update us their progress? My MGB surgery isn't scheduled until after the first of the year so I'm living vicariously through your success stories until then. For those who wouldn't mind, I'd love to ask some questions about your surgery/recovery experiences and what tips/advice you could share.
  12. You're doing fabulous as well. What made you decide on a mini gastric bypass instead of an RNY or a sleeve?
  13. Can anyone provide updates on how you're doing?
  14. I'm not sure when he did his training on single incision surgery. I thought about having mine done as a single incision, but I already have the scars from my gall bladder removal so I figured why bother. My surgery date is still a little ways out, but I'm keeping myself entertained by trying samples of different protein powders and drinks, researching vitamins and other supplements, and making lists and checking them twice. Time has never moved so slowly!
  15. When you put it like that, I definitely want to go alone.
  16. What a terrific Christmas present to yourself! I'd love to hear how everything goes, and what you think of the doctors and the hospital. Are you going by yourself or will you have a companion? I plan to go by myself, but I'm a little nervous about it. Best wishes!
  17. This is such a good idea! After reading this thread, I ordered a bracelet from www.laurenshope.com as well. With so many choices, it was hard to pick just one! How long did it take for your bracelet to arrive after you ordered?
  18. My employer's health insurance coverage has a restriction against any type of bariatric surgery. So even though my PCP recommends it for health reasons, I'm going to be a self-pay patient. I'm probably going to have to go to Mexico for the procedure if I want to have it done in the next few years, since it'll take me that long to save up for surgery here in the US. I'm interested in hearing from those who have had their surgery in Mexico, or those that considered it. Are you happy with your decision and why? If you had surgery in Mexico, who was your surgeon and how did you choose him? Which hospital were you in? How long was your stay in Mexico (hospital and/or hotel)? What was it like traveling back home? What have your results been like? I would also appreciate anything more you can tell me about your experiences in Mexico, every little detail you can remember. I'm interested in hearing from everyone, even those with bad results or negative opinions. Please share and help me in my decisions. Please let me know if I posted this in the wrong place. Thank you
  19. Rocky1, I did consider using a multiviitamin crystal or powder. It's just that I'm already going to be adding so many different supplements to my drinks (Protein, Upcal D, and fiber) that I would like to avoid having to add another. My plan is to use a chewable multivitamin and calcium for the first few weeks after surgery and then switch to capsule/pill form once I'm able.
  20. The Pro-Care One-A-Day sounded interesting so I looked it up. It doesn't seem to contain any Vitamin K. Will we not need Vitamin K after surgery? You make an excellent point about waiting to buy. I'll just use this time to learn about my future needs so I can make an informed choice when the time comes.
  21. Thank you for catching that! I posted the info on the wrong formula - I intended to show the info for the same formula with iron.
  22. I'll definitely be doing all of that - thank you!
  23. I'm so happy to hear that everything is going well for you! Did you have much pain, or difficulty during recovery? How was your trip home?
  24. Thank you for the information! I worry about PE and DVT as well. Did your doctor put you on blood thinners after surgery? I've read that some do and some don't. How long was your flight? Mine should be about 5 hours.
