The word for gloves is guantes. I memorized it after talking with you last night. The word for sterile is esteril. I'm prepared thanks to you. -

I've heard that, too. That's wonderful that you're getting some good exercise in already. And that you haven't been hurting too badly since your surgery. Your post came at a great time and has really helped to ease a lot of the last-minute attack-of-the-nerves that I was having tonight. I researched surgeons extensively over a few months and feel confident in selecting Dr. Rodriguez, but the fear of the unknown/not knowing what to expect was starting to get to me. Thank you! -

Thank you again for sharing the details of your experience. I'm glad that you made it home safely and are doing well. Best wishes to you! -
What kind of protein is in the shots? I've been told that our bodies only absorb certain kinds of protein well, but these sound interesting.

Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez, Mexico

Thank you so much for posting this! I'm having surgery with Dr. Rodriguez the day after tomorrow, and it's great having an idea of what to expect. I did not like reading that two people didn't wear gloves while poking you with needles. Since you're an RN and noted the medical and hygiene practices, could you tell me how concerned you were with this? I'm thinking my instinct would be to insist they put on gloves, but I don't speak any Spanish. What's you're opinion of the pain med and the antibiotic that you were given, both while in the hospital and to take home? Strong enough? Thanks again! -

Has anyone had a Mini Gastric Bypass in Mexico?
Okiebon replied to Okiebon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you, Rocky! Three months ago I didn't think I could stand such a long wait, but the time passed fast. It's hard to believe, but I'm all packed and ready to go. -

Thank you! I met another lady on here who will be having surgery with Dr. Rod the same day I am. Since I'm going by myself, finding someone else I'll "know" there has helped me a lot. When are you thinking of having yours done? -

@Band07 Yes, my surgery is the day after tomorrow with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. Best wishes to you! -
I'm also a big fan of Syntrax Nectar. My favorites are the Cappuccino and the vanilla bean. Those, and a couple of others, I prefer to mix with milk. I've tried several of the fruity flavors and found them all good, it's just a matter of personal tastes. Twisted Cherry and strawberry Kiwi are my favorites right now. Oh, and Roadside Lemonaide.

Torani Sugar Free Syrup - Am I mixing it wrong?
Okiebon replied to Okiebon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm really, really hoping my tastes change in a similar way after surgery. Sweets have always been such a problem for me. I don't want to want them anymore. -

I haven't opened the Salted Carmel, but I'm not going to bother. I'm going to return it all as soon as possible. (LOVE that sweet little face in your avitar!!) -

I almost ordered the black cherry, too. I just checked Torani's website - it says that they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It looks like I should be able to return everything for a full refund (less the expensive S & H, of course). That's more than I expected though. -

Thank you, I'm glad to know it isn't just me. I even worried that I'd gotten a 'bad batch' or something. -
Torani Sugar Free Syrup - Am I mixing it wrong?
Okiebon replied to Okiebon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So it was as easy as pie for you? Sorry! I couldn't resist. I was wondering if it might be the sweetener, but none of the reviews ever mentioned a bitter taste, so I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Thank you! -
Did your shoe size change after weight loss surgery?
Okiebon posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I thought I'd seen this question asked before, but if so I can't find the thread. Did your shoe size change after surgery? It seems like my size got bigger as I gained weight, but that was so long ago I can't remember it clearly. I'm scheduled for surgery in 23 days. Not thinking, I bought two new pairs of summer shoes a few days ago and now I'm wondering if they'll even fit when summertime gets here. What was your experience with this? Should I take the shoes back? I got a great deal on them - but not if I won't be able to wear them. -
None here do either.

Sick 10 days before surgery!
Okiebon replied to skc72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is this coming Friday, March 20. I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I was getting the flu. Went to Urgicare, flu test was negative but got 4 prescriptions to hopefully getting me feeling better in the next 5 days. -
Frozen meals - lean cuisine weight watchers...
Okiebon replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@MamaTo3inNH Have you tried cooking the chicken in a crock pot? meats are usually very moist and tender this way. If you'd still like a sauce, try adding some cream of chicken Soup on top of the chicken while it cooks (maybe even stir in some unflavored Protein powder for extra protein). -
I have had a Charlie in my life for the last several years. One week from tomorrow I'm taking a major step in getting him out of my life forever! Goodbye Charlie. Thank you for posting this! It's so well written, and it gives a new look on things that hit too close to home.

My surgery isn't until next week, so I can't offer personal experiences. But, we do have a good Mexico Sleeve forum here http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/486-self-pay-mexico-gastric-sleeve-surgery/ You might take a look at the posts there - they might help with some of your questions. Good luck!

SYNTRAX NECTAR-Does anyone have any receipes or ideas of what this can be mixed with in addition to water.
Okiebon replied to TREVORSMOM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried this yet, but someone recommended mixing the fruity flavors with plain greek yogurt. They also recommended mixing the strawberry Mousse flavor with the Roadside Lemonaid. Both sound pretty good to me. I've mixed the vanilla Bean, Strawberry Mousse and the chocolate with milk and it makes it a little thicker, more dessert-like, and it adds protein! -
Time Frame ? How long did it take you to get scheduled please ?
Okiebon replied to trander27's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You shouldn't have any problems scheduling a May surgery date in Mexico. If you have a specific date(s) in mind, your doctor's coordinator will be able to tell you quickly if that day(s) is available. Best wishes!
