  1. Yes, I did. They brought down all of us who'd had surgery on Friday and we went into the room one at a time for our leak tests. They also give you a copy of the leak test images on a CD to bring home with you, as well as a letter from Dr. Rodriguez describing in detail what was done during your surgery. Congratulations on your surgery date! You made a great choice, IMO.

    Feet shrinking?

This is the thread on shoe sizes changing after surgery: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/333450-did-your-shoe-size-change-after-weight-loss-surgery/page-6?hl=%2Bshoe+%2Bsize#entry3781191 I can't wait!!

    What Protein shakes taste best?

I bought samples of all the flavors except tea, which I've heard is great - I just don't care much for tea. I've only tried 6 or 7 of the flavors so far, liked some more than others, but they're such a nice change from the normal vanilla, chocolate, etc. shakes. They've all been good.
  4. I'm sorry. What are your options?

    What Protein shakes taste best?

My favorites are the Syntrax Nectars, especially Capuccino, vanilla Bean and Roadside Lemonade. They have a lot of other flavors to choose from, too. This website lets you order individual sample packets of tons of different brands and flavors so you can find which one(s) work best for you. http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html
  6. @@psychicrhino that is awesome! You're still feeling good and doing your walking? Are you on full liquids or pureeds now? I've not had any problems so far. Got all my liquids and protein (shakes) in yesterday, and am on track again today. Not having any problems getting/keeping anything down, I just have to go slower. It amazes me how fast I get full!!! Dinner last night was 8 oz of Unjury chicken broth and a little bit of sugar free jello.
  7. After my surgery, my hospital meals consisted of chicken broth, Jello (tasted like regular not sugar free) , Apple juice and chamomile tea with one packet of sugar. I would savor that last sip of tea where the sugar had pooled, and the jello - oh so good. My diet has been almost the same the two days I've been home, except I've had no tea and the jello is sugar free, which never has tasted as good to me. I hope so badly that those tastes change soon. Sweets are my downfall. I'd be so relieved if they no longer tasted the same to me.

    Only one more day

Everything went very well, especially after meeting Dr. Rodriguez. He has such a calm, comforting, confidence about him and he's so nice and patient with everyone. I couldn't help but feel that I was going to be in great hands. I had no/very little gas pain, no nausea or other issues. I am sore especially around the incisions but that's already much better. When I woke up in my room after surgery, I was able to get out of bed on my own to move around. A couple of ladies there getting sleeves had quite a bit of gas pain and threw up several times. I don't know if I just got lucky or if it because I had an MGB done. My first meal was about four teaspoons of broth, four of Jello, a few sips of juice and some ice chips. And I was full! For dinner tonight I had 8oz unjury chicken broth and a small container of sugar free jello. So far everything's gone down without problem and I'm getting plenty of fluids. I've been taking my regular meds, pills and capsules, no problem. Today I started on my bariatric Vitamins and extra Calcium. The drive from the airport to hospital, and then back, was uneventful. I saw nothing concerning during the ride. Mary Anne, Dr. Rodriguez' assistant, will meet you in the admitting office to translate and take you to your room. She'll leave her phone number so you can call her with any questions or problems. Communicating with the nurses was very frustrating a couple of times. I highly recommend keeping the translation sheet they give you nearby. Sergio, who heads up the shuttle service contracted by the hospital, picked me up early at the hospital on Monday and offered to stop at a neat histories and let me do some shopping. Of course I said yes! I got some woven bags, a couple if nicknames and a gorgeous turquoise pendant. If I had felt a little more chipped, and had a way to get everything home, I would've bought some rugs and a few other things. The prices were great. I hope this helps you. You'll be in excellent hands with Dr. Rodriguez. Please let me know how everything goes for you. Best wishes!
  9. I only have to make it through one more day before my surgery on FRIDAY! I've waited months for this and can't believe the time is finally here. I'm ready. Bags are packed, everything is done except getting on the plane and getting to the hospital. (I'm having a Mini Gastric Bypass with Dr. Jose Rodriguez). Thoughts and prayers would definitely be appreciated.

    Am I the only one?

Nope, you aren't the only one who's wondered this. Since my surgery on Friday, I understand much better though. Sorry I didn't respond to you more quickly. Hope the message I just sent you helps.

    Tomorrow is the day!

    I'd like that!
  19. Wifi login and password at admissions. Got it. Great tip, thank you. I'm glad that you mentioned the gloves. I don't mean to make a mountain out of a molehill about it, I was just a little surprised. No idea why, but I was.
  20. I was lucky enough to meet a lady on here who is also having surgery with Dr. Rodriguez tomorrow. She flew in today and has already had her bloodwork and other tests done. She's just messaged me that her nurse, a woman, did use gloves. So I guess it varies by nurse. Psychicrhino, how was the wifi connection while you were there?

    Mexico Packing List?

Wow, except for the spirometer and the funnel, your list is pretty much identical to mine. I am also taking a heating pad and a pair of flip flops with me for my surgery tomorrow. Oh, and eye drops and the spray for dry mouth (can't think of the name). I laughed when I saw you had take off rings in bold. I was afraid I'd forget, so I took mine off a few days ago just to be safe.
  24. Hi, I know you were considering Dr. Rodriguez so I thought this thread might interest you. The OP had the band, and has just had a sleeve done with Dr. Rodriguez. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/335429-dr-rodriguez-starmedica-in-juarez-mexico-march-14-2015/
