It has been a while since I've been on here! I had gastric bypass on April 7, 2016. HW: 420 SW: 360 CW: 240 GW: 170-199 Honestly, I'll be so happy to get under 200 pounds. I have not been my current weight since middle school, so it feels great! But I know I have more work to do. Since I relocated back to my hometown of Brooklyn, NY I have been slacking!! For the past 6 months I have stayed between 230-240. I'm currently staying with my family and the added stress and their unhealthy lifestyle has held me in a rut. But I'm ready to reach my goal! Throughout the whole process exercise has never played a major role in my weight loss. So, now I joined a local gym and I went for the first time this morning. Please send me some words of encouragement! I need them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh, I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I wasn't going to cut calories also lol. I plan on reducing my calorie intake to 1,100-1,250 a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Protein Shakes
Heybrendacleo replied to Brandon Long's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to like premier protein pre-op but hated it post-op. And all the other whey protein shakes/powders I tried. They just left a nasty after taste. I started using Vega Protein. It's a vegan protein powder with 20 grams of protein per serving, and 120 cals. I love it! It cost $24 for a 16 serving container but well worth it. I'm on my 3rd container. -
I'm 5 months post-op and still have a little pain/tenderness by one of my incisions. At first it was completely numb.

Meat just isn't really agreeing with me and right now I'm eating mostly beans, cheese, Greek yogurt. Any vegetarians that can give me an idea of how they've been doing since surgery. I'm 2 months post-op.

I'm too excited!!! 16 more pounds until I hit my first personal goal of being under 300. But I've loss a total of 103 pounds from my HW. 43 of that since RNY 4/7/15.

Tomorrow I'll be 2 months post-op and I've loss 31 pounds. I'm happy that I'm loosing weight, but I'm starting to regret getting the bypass and wish I went with the sleeve. The weight is coming off very slow for me and my surgeon confirmed it.

4 weeks post-op and today I got in 60 grams of protein from food, but I feel like a pig. I feel so stuffed after eating 2-3oz of food. Most days I rather drink proteins shakes, but I'm trying to get back to eating real food. My Nut said at this stage I should be working on getting most of my protein from food, but I feel so weighed down after. Plus, I have to eat about 5-6 times to get the much protein in vs. drinking two 30gram protein shakes. Has anyone used protein drinks as their primary food source for an extended period of time? If so, how long.

Before surgery I said I wouldn't complain about the amount of weight I loose, but now I find it hard to do. I had the gastric bypass on 4/7/15 and I've lose 18 pounds the first 2 weeks. The past 2 weeks I've lose 0 pounds, and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I thought based on my SW (360) alone that the pounds would be falling off a little faster.

For anyone who uses the Fitbit devices please send me a friend request (brendacleo_smith@yahoo.com) I just got mine today and I'm excited to start using it. -
On Tuesday I will be 3 weeks post-op. The first week I lose 8 pounds and the second week I lose 10 pounds. This week so far...nothing. I'm wondering if other people have experienced this so early on?

I'm thinking about trying some protein powders after my surgery on Tuesday. I've already used the ready made Premier Protein shakes. What are some of your favorite protein POWDERS?

Today makes 1 week that I'm post-op and my emotions are all over the place. The first couple of days I felt good, and was happy that I felt full all day. Day 7 of feeling like I ate a thanksgiving dinner and it's starting to mentally drain me. I have to force myself to get liquids in, and luckily for me I didn't drink a lot before surgery or I'd probably feel dehydrated by now. My protein shakes (Premier Protein) taste nasty to me now, they leave an after taste in my mouth. The SF Popsicles I used to love taste too sweet, and I honestly can't afford to try a bunch of different protein shakes. In saying all of this...I've decided to make the best of the situation, I'm blessed to have this tool. I'm going to stay with the shakes I have now and Greek yogurt. I just wanted to post this incase anyone else was going through something similar...you are not alone.

5 days post-op...too soon to start soft foods? I'm already tired of the liquids.

5 days post-op
Heybrendacleo replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I've been torturing myself for the last 3 days. When I left the hospital I thought I was on ALL liquids. Yesterday I started feeling very weak & my blood sugar was really low. Called my surgeon office today to find out I can eat applesauce, yogurt, and cottage cheese also. Ate an oz of applesauce and I'm already feeling better. -
5 days post-op
Heybrendacleo replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you able to move around. I had really bad gas pains the first few days and it helped me to get them out by moving around. Yes, I'm moving around. Maybe not enough. Are you able to lay down flat? Yes, flat on my back and a little on my side. -

5 days post-op
Heybrendacleo replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guys, I have no hunger at all at this point, but my body does feel weak. That's why I wanted to add something else. I've decided to stick to the liquid diet until I see my Nut & surgeon on the 22nd. -
3 days post-op and I still can't believe I had RNY gastric bypass. So far, I have just a little soreness, no nausea, still like the premier protein shakes, and I'm able to drink the crystal light. Things are going good and I'm so excited. Can't wait until I can workout again.

Being on this diet really made me realize how much I rely on food. When I'm home I feel so bored when I'm not eating, and that's sad. After I eat the one meal I can eat it's like I'm counting down the hours until I can go to bed. 5 days down 9 more to do.

Pre-op diet boredom
Heybrendacleo replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol and mine is right in between y'all...I'm the 7th. I was told before that their chicken soup was good. I need to give it a try. I also drink the premier protein shakes. -
Day 1 of my pre-op diet is almost over and I'm sooo hungry! 1 day (almost) done...13 more to go.

Day 1: Pre-op diet
Heybrendacleo replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How was surgery! I cheated too yesterday but today is a new day! Keep pushing forward. -
I'm having my surgery on April 7th and I live 4 hours away from my family. I wanted to know if it would be safe for me to be alone once I get home after the surgery? My mother is willing to come to my house, but I have to little brothers (Ages 13 and 6) and I don't want to be that on her.
