Still struggling with gas but not as bad as the first two days. Trying to walk as much possible. No BM yet hopefully soon though I'm kinda scared. Over all I think I'm doing pretty good. Getting my fluids in. A little short on protein but my doc said it's okay if I don't get all of it in the first week. How's everyone else doing first week post op ?

How soon after surgery did you try pizza? I'm only six weeks out so I won't be eating pizza for awhile but I was just curious when other people tried it for the first time.

I have been craving a sandwich so bad!! Anyone else having cravings? Anyone else tried a sandwich? I know I have to be careful since my stomach is still pretty new.

Can you record vitamins in MFP?
avermette replied to innwtitdtity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a pill container with the days printed on top. Every Sunday I fill it up for the week. Then I set a reminder on my phone so I don't forget to take them. Good luck! -
My surgery date is March 23rd. My surgeon requires a two week pre-op diet which consists of four protein drinks daily and only clear liquids. Well I have three days till I start and let me just say I am eating anything and everything I can. I'm so excited for this life changing surgery and I'm scared. I know I will be able to eat things I want in moderation again someday. I just feel like this is the time to eat whatever guilt free! Anyone else experiencing this "last supper syndrome" ?

I was having the same issues. Then I switched to ice cold water/drinks and my stomach handles it a lot better.

My surgery was on a Monday afternoon and I was released from hospital the next afternoon. Back to work the following monday. Everyone is different and every surgeon is different.

Water: warm, tepid, ice cold?
avermette replied to meyouus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The colder the better for me. Room temperature does not sit well. I can tolerate hot tea though. So it's gotta be really hot or really cold. Good luck! -

Congratulations! Glad to hear your surgery went great. Mine did too. I was a little uncomfotable when I woke from surgery but the pain meds kicked in pretty quik. I'm still in hospital until 6. Then I can go home. Surgery was a success! -
Surgery set for 3:15 today. Getting anxious and I'm soooo thirsty. Most of all I'm excited-excited to start this new journey. I'm grateful to all of those who post their experiences and give me the support and strength to keep moving forward. See ya on the post-op side ????

Preop diet .... Please help
avermette replied to foodfighter78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sam58- It DOES get better. Drink lots of water. It helps with the hunger. I am allowed to drink decaffeinated hot tea and that really helps too. You can do it!! -
Preop diet .... Please help
avermette replied to foodfighter78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like everyone is making it through. I'm on my 8th day of liquid diet. My doc requires two week on his prescribed protein drinks so 800 calories a day and 110 grams protein. I'm allowed sugar free jello and bouillon. And of course at least 64 oz water. I'm feeling good. Last week was a little rough but I made it. Just keeping my eye on the prize. I go for surgery 3/23. Good luck everyone- WE CAN DO THIS!! -
Started my 14 day pre-op Monday (it's Thursday) which consists of four protein drinks and lots of water per day. I've been doing pretty good but tonight I had steamed broccoli and asparagus. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal but I feel like I failed a little. Anyone else go off their pre-op?
-
On day six of my pre-op diet. Hasn't been so bad. I'm drinking lots of water and hot decaf tea. Trying not to think too far ahead just taking one day at a time- even still March 23rd can't come soon enough

Disappointed in self- Pre Op Diet
avermette replied to avermette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support. New day, fresh start! I will be super diligent these next 9 days. -
Well I made it through day one. It actually wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. I had four protein drinks, drank lots of water, and had a sugar free Jell-O cup. Not to share TMI but I just started my period so we'll see how this next week goes. How's everyone else? I know there were several of us starting this liquid diet on the same day or around the same time frame. How are you guys holding up?

I had surgery yesterday!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Have you been hungry at all? -
I did give up soda and all carbonated drinks about three months ago. finally gave up my coffee and all caffeine about three weeks ago. Did not want to start my liquid diet AND detox all at the same time. I'm excited and ready for this. Glad to know the pre op gets better after a couple days.

Got my surgery date!
avermette replied to avermette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely!! Do you have a pre-op regimen? My surgeon requires me to go on a specific protein drink diet 14 days prior to surgery ???? it makes me nervous to even think about it but whatever I have to do. I gave up caffeine this weekend too and I already gave up carbonated drinks months ago. Figured I might as well "detox" now rather than wait til the very end. -
Got approval from my insurance and surgeons office called to schedule. Surgery date is March 23rd. Sooooo excited. When I first started this journey it seemed like the day would never get here now I'm just 5 weeks away and couldn't be happier. Thank you all for your posts and continued support!!

Carbonated Water?
avermette replied to BearerOfLight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT and surgeon said cut out all carbonated drinks. The carbonation stretches the stomach. I cut it out a few months ago to give my body time to adjust before surgery. I figure if I haven't had it for this long why start again now.
