I finally finished my 6 month process. Now I wait.... hoping my insurance doesn't have any issues so I can move forward on this forever, long waited journey. I'm 35; 5'2" and heaviest weight was 250. I managed to drop down to 240 throughout these past 6 months. I also learned through this whole process that I have a a severe case of GERD so I will be having the RNY apposed to the sleeve (which I originally wanted). I'm so excited to have this surgery. I have been stalking this forum for months now and can't wait to be on the other side. Thank you everyone for your honesty and strength. I will keep you updated. Hoping for a February surgery date.

Mbstas- I am so excited to hear that you started at the same weight and height as me and you've hit my goal weight! Do you feel good in the 130's? My wife thinks that will be too much for me to lose but I'm determined to get there. I've been searching for people with my beginning stats. How do you feel and do you have a lot of extra skin? Sorry to bombard you with so many questions I'm just really excited.

My name is Amy and I'm a sugar addict

Thank you all for your honesty. I will have RNY in February and every bit of information helps. I am an addict and the obsessive compulsive behavior shows it's ugly head in many ways. Once I have sugery I know there will be foods I can't touch in fear of walking that nasty addictive monster. -

Looking for a buddy in PA
avermette replied to FaithfromPA1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Faith! I'm from California but also going through the pre op process. I'm about 4 months in. The first couple of months were hard. I wanted to eat anything and everything because I thought once I have the surgery I won't be able to eat anything! After awhile I thought if nothing else this will give me an opportunity to start slow so once I have the surgery I won't have to "detox" or have any serious withdrawls. I given up soda and all carbonated drinks. Cut out most sugars but really struggle when it's that time of month the hardest part is eating slowly and chewing my food to mush I have not been successful with that at all. Anyway my point is it was really hard and discouraging in the beginning. I've never been successful with dieting hence the surgery. I want it enough to do the best that I can and that's all anyone can ask for. Good luck to you. It does get easier and the closer I get to surgery the more motivated I become. I love this forum for the support it offers. Take advantage everyone is here to help and encourage!! -

Anyone going sharp memorial in San Diego
avermette replied to MoniqueVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I'm going through the same thing. My insurance requires a 6 month process; blood tests, psych, meetings with nutritionist, EKG etc. Once I've completed the 6 month process they submit it to my insurance for approval. I can't hardly wait. I've been obsesses with the forums.and youtube vidwos.of.everyone else who's had or having the surgery soon. My 6 month visit is in Jan 2015..... ugh!!! Good luck to you!! I have read in some cases the doc will submit everything at the 4 month mark and insurance will approve. I'm not gonna do that but it's an option for some. -

I'm doing the same, trying to up my protein. I found these great protein (already mixed) drinks at GNC. They have 25 grams of protein and super yummy. My doctor says Greek yogurt is also a good source.

My insurance requires a six month process before surgery. I just had my third visit so half way there. I'm so impatient I just wanna get it done already. I've decided on the sleeve after lots of research I feel that is the best option for me. I love reading everyone's stories and appreciate all the honesty from individual experiences. I'm 5'2" at 246lbs. Can't wait to share my journey after surgery.

My insurance requires the 6 month process before surgery. In the beginning I was upset that I would have to spend another half year struggling with what I've struggled with my entire life. I'm three months into the process coming up on my fourth visit. While I still want the surgery to happen yesterday I've learned so much from my visits with the doc and nutritionists. I have already started making changes such as cutting out carbonated drinks, eating foods that are better for me and so on. Not saying I do it perfect I certainly do not but it's a learning process an idea of what my future will be like after WLS. There are days now that I'm unbearable, I have mood swings, I can get grouchy. That's just part of me being human. My desire to be thinner, healthier and more active completely out weigh my fears of staying where I'm at. My thoughts... make a pros and cons list what out weighs your choices? Only you know. Do as much research as you can so you know exactly what you're getting into. And no matter what you decide all that matters is that you're comfortable with your choice. Good Luck!!!
