The good news is I have lost 30lbs since my surgery June 30,2005. The bad news is I am going to have surgery again this Firday October 21st as my port has flipped AND my line was hit by a needle and leaks now. My insurance is going to pay for the new surgery however I am going to be out another $500.00 (insurance requirement) I am happy things went ok for you however I am scared to death to go through this AGAIN!!!! I have a wonderful doctor Dr. Hagood (Dallas) and I know he will take great care of me but I am still very upset and scared. I know I need to do it and I am ready to get it over with. I have had to starve just to keep the weight off. I will NEVER go back to the doctor who did my fills. I called his office three times and left messages for his office manager as well as him and have not heard a word from them. He really cares....LOL I know things will get better but this has been a long road for me. Ready for sunny days!!!!!! Best of luck to you, NeeCee1966

Dr. Maese has an office in Ferris and one in Dallas. The one in Ferris will be too far for you and the office in Dallas I have no idea where it is located. You might add a post and see if someone can help you. Good luck!!!! and Welcome to Texas!!!! NeeCee -
Just had my first fill today and I am sick. Nobody ever told me about all of this and I even attended siminars. Per my docotrs assistant who did the fill said come back in one month then every two weeks after that for your fills. So, today I had 2cc fill and in one month I go back for another then every two weeks after that for 5-6 times for fills. I will be 6 months out and would have not lost that much weight. Per his assistant I may even gain weight during this time. I was never told or even heard anything about this long drawn out process in the beginning. What a let down!!!!!!!!!! So, I feel for you girl!!!!!!! I called my mother today and told her what was said and her reply was "I was afraid they were all making it sound so good to get you in and have this done." I hope it does work and I hope it starts working for you as well!!!!!!!

Hi Chris.......I did alot of research and I chose the Lap Band and here is why.....It can be removed if you have problems.....and you do lose weight slower with the lap band which is good in my case as I have alot to lose. Your skin has alot of elasticity so while you are losing the weight slowly you can work out and wont have alot of the sagging that you can get with fast weight loss. Don't let a doctor tell what to choose...when it comes to your body you choose what you feel is best for you. I have a relative that did the gastric bypass surgery and she now has a huge hernia and is big again. Nothing is 100% unless you want it to be. I had a choice and I chose Lap Band...

Dr Maese got my ball rolling. He sent me to Dr. Hagood in Dallas who was GREAT. I had my surgery 6/30/05 and will have my first fill Monday 8/8. Dr. Maese does do only fills and will refer you to an outside doctor to do your surgery. Once again, I loved Dr. Hagood and he does most of his surgery at St. Paul off of Walnut Hill and Central Expressway. His office is located there as well. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!! -

OK here goes...I had my band on the 30th of June. I didn't like the fact my husband couldn't go back either. However, when they gave me the (silly juice) to relax me, before they put you to sleep I don't even remember telling my husband good-bye. You will be just fine. Relax and enjoy. I had alot of anxieties as well but now I look back and think I made a mountain out of a mole hill. Best of luck and welcome to the wounderful world of lap band!!!!!!!! P.S. My next anxiety is, I have my first fill on Monday, August 8th but it is just normal for me to worry about every little thing. I am going to be brave and go this one alone.

How did you go emotionally afterwards?
NeeCee1966 replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I understand where you are coming from. I have the same feelings. I have not had my first fill. I will Monday the 8th. However, it was very hard and I tried to talk myself out of it sort of like it sounds like you are doing now. Don't do it, stick with it and keep on going. I know deep in my soul (after 20 years of trying) I can't go it alone. I realize I need my band. I have high blood pressure and type II diabetes as well as sleep apnea. I feel NOW no matter what, I would have died going the direction I was going. Don't look back to yesterday look only towards tomorrow!!!!!!! Still after 6 weeks I still have mixed emotions but I refuse to back out now!!! Also, one more point...I don't know your age, but how many times over the years have we told ourselves by Christmas I want to lose 20 lbs and never make it. How many times do we say by summer I want to lose 30 pounds only never to make it? Now we know with lap band we will lose the weight and know there will be no more broken promises to ourselves. I think for all of us in the beginning it is hard because we are going into unfamiliar territory and even at 38 that scares me. Good Luck!!!!! -
I used Dr. Hagood in Dallas, Texas for my surgery. He is the best in my opinion. Dr. Maese referred me to him. He has great bedside manner and was very attentive to my needs. He took his time when visiting with me and answered every question I had to throw at him. I will have my first fill with Dr. Maese on Monday, August 8th and I can’t wait. Dr. Maese is the best too. He is always so positive, encouraging and uplifting. Best of luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!! At 38 I know my life is really just about to begin, thanks to Dr. Maese and Dr. Hagood;-) NeeCee1966@msn.com
