    Pre opt diet weight loss

I hear you…just make sure you are using the low carb version slim fast. The regular versions can have up to 25 carbs and 18 sugars which would definitely slow down your weight loss. Best wishes!!

    Pre opt diet weight loss

That sounds pretty good to me, but there are better shakes than slim fast. EAS Carb Control or Bariatric Advantage or Atkins. Did the doc put you on slim fast?
  3. Tell us more…what exactly did they serve? Did you have any issues chewing thoroughly? I worry that I will forget when I go to my first gathering. How long has it been since your surgery?

You've done great! I noticed that you and I have a similar starting weight and goal weight. Just wondering....how much did you lose in your first 3 months?

    I need sleep!

Im up now so it's fair to say my sleep has been weird. I have napped during the day and then my husband wakes me up to walk every couple of hours...not sure why. I feel good, I'm just up at 2:45am :-)
  9. I find it odd that my weight is the same after 3 days of nothing but water since the surgery.

Keep in mind that they also overload you with fluids in the OR to help prevent nausea; the fluids add a lot of weight until your kidneys kick in and you pee it all out. The weight loss WILL come. Try to be patient and take good care of yourself. Be proud you just did something AWESOME for yourself! :)

I know this has been discussed but...

I haven't had to use them yet, but my doc prescribed me meds. Are you sleeping upright? My surgeon said to prop myself up with pillows to help avoid shoulder pain.
  11. 1Corinthians6:19

    Gas pains still?

Oh yeah and I have to get up and walk for 5-10 minutes every hour as well..I think that helps quite a bit

    Gas pains still?

Had my surgery today. I was also instructed to sleep in an upright position. No shoulder pain at all yet. But I have had a little gas that's immediately relieved by the gasx strip. I guess I'll be keeping those in my purse for awhile.

    Feeling pretty good.

Yes, praise the Lord!! And thank you. ????

    Surgery

Home resting and I feel pretty good. I don't have much pain at all so far...just a a little discomfort due to gas, but it goes away pretty quick when I pop a gasX strip.

    Please help

It took me 5 minutes into my consult to realize that insurance was not going to cover me without an extreme hassle. I just decided to self pay because my surgeon explained that the insurance companies use outdated information with regard to who should be qualified for WLS. Even if they cover you, it takes over 6 months of jumping through their hoops.
  16. I am self pay as well. My initial consult was on a Monday and I was approved 3 days later.
  17. Forgot to mention that my surgery was scheduled a week after my approval because I only had to do 1 week pre-op diet. Usually they have you do two weeks.

    No more metformin!

Congrats on going off the diabetes meds. So you've been able to lose 42 lbs in 2 months?

    In 48 hours...

How did it go? I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow and my surgery is tentatively scheduled for November 13th. Any advice?
