Gaining weight sad but starting over. Help advice and support needed.
amponder replied to Zingythingy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have no experience with this, so I'm not sure if I can be helpful or not, as I am in the beginning of my journey. Your self worth is not your waist line or in the scales, I'm not telling you to accept this new weight gain though, you have worked hard and I'd be feeling the same way. Your keeping your exercise routine up and that's good, baby steps with that and you'll have to work you way back up. Hang in there!! and don't give up. -
In an effort not to get bored with my workout I'm going to Zumba today, going to drink my water eat my protein and veggies and be happy about it.

@@James Marusek yeah that's what I was saying she's used to hill walking so this course is a breeze for her, it's not real hard for me, I just can't walk at a real fast pace even on a treadmill I only go 2mph and I feel like I'm running I'm only 4'10 so I have a child's stride when I get lighter I might be able to go faster right now I walking real fast just isn't something I can do.

Goodluck to you the shoulder pain surprised me, I have the added burden of having a dog, that now sits in my lap and constantly sniffs my incision site, I had my surgery Nov 21 and he still does it.

Walked 3 miles today, have had chicken, a small turkey salad, and some carrots and cream cheese (not all at once over the course of the day), also have had 80oz of Water, and on my walk today I found 10 dollars whoop whoop,

@@ProjectMe well the trail is a big circle and like I said not my 1st time there everyone has a different pace, if you invite someone of a different fitness level to walk with you it is nicer if you can be patient with them, either walk with them or by all means don't make fun of them the whole way.

I am curious about sugar free products such as jellies jams and desserts for diabetics, and what it means when It lists sugar alcohol levels does that raise your sugar? for a lapband patient would those things be okay as a treat in small amounts?

Even with the weight I've lost things are already getting more comfortable, my seatbelt fits, I can fit in the chairs at church and the booths in restaraunts now, I don't have to perform contortion to take care of personal needs, I no longer sound like I just ran a marathon walking 10 feet, I can tie my shoes. I am lifting heavier things now that my stomach is smaller. I have more energy to take care of our new puppy, the house looks better as I can do more house cleaning and laundry everyday. I already am feeling better in social situations. I am not off my BP meds yet but the number are going down, hopefully soon. So thanks for the reminder. All of us can think of ways we benefit other than the scales.

Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
amponder replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can lose weight fairly well, I can't maintain, I am hoping the surgery helps me keep the habits I adopt by reminding me to put down the fork. -
I had my surgery Nov 21st. 3weeks ago I had my 1st fill unfortunatly I had gained 2lbs but, today I was down 9. The Dr. is more pleasant and complimetary when I'm actually following his plan lol, He gave me another fill 1.5 so I think that's 3cc all together this time I can tell a small difference, I had Tuna and broccoli salad for lunch, I bought a pound of broccoli salad at the deli, I had about 10 bites of tuna, and 10 bites of broccoli and I felt full, gave the broccoli to my son cause he loves the broccoli salad, it sort of tastes like cole slaw it's good and sweet enough to help me with that particular craving. I want to try Zumba tonight, I'm getting bored with my treadmill I'd like to mix it up a bit. Changing my tracker today, I am 11lbs from losing 100.

@@kellhale33 so far I haven't had any problems but I have been nervous about testing limits, I'm not supposed to eat pizza and I have been told it's the bread but it's also a trigger food for me so I just stay away from it. I have eaten tuna hamburger chicken roast cheese and lunch meat , broccoli green Beans soft carrots and some potatoes, a few times I've had beef Jerky the tender teryaki version, and a few cheats with dark chocalate.

Time Period Between Surgery and First Fill/Adjustment
amponder replied to lanniesue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill 4 weeks post op, I don't really feel it, but I did go to Mom's and had a normal sized meal it was roast beef carrots with on small potatoe and, I did what was suggested and started with the Protein, by the time I got to the potatoe I could only eat half of it, normally I would have 2nds, but I do not have a lot of restriction and was told not to expect that until around the 4th or 5th fill luckily my Dr. does them once every 2 weeks. -
One thing I knew going into this, because I've tried it before is, weight loss does not cure depression. I don't know how many of you have depression but I'm guessing there are a few of you like me, whose weight is a symptom of depression? I am not thin yet by any means but, now that I have dropped a lot of weight I'm getting questions like "do you feel better?, are you happier? do you have more energy?" In a nut shell the answer is YES I do feel better, moving around does help depression losing weight and feeling better does help, but it doesn't cure it and I know that deep down that is what most of these people are asking they are veiled questions for "Are you still depressed?" Depression isn't just a bad mood, it's a medical condition, just like obesity and I can treat the symptoms but it never really goes away.

I had a hernia I didn't even know about, and the Dr. did fix it at the same time as my surgery. I hope the pain subsides until your surgery.

These are not textured like pancakes more like an omelet, I personally don't have a problem with eggs and cream cheese but I don't have much restriction yet. @@hope2 @@B-52 at any rate at a time in my diet when I am trying to make all this high Protein stuff interesting I thought I would share this.
