    Gastric Bypass VS Sleeve

I was 245 and asked the same question about being "heavy enough" for the gastric bypass. Ultimately, I chose this surgery because it has a higher success rate for getting rid of diabetes and PCOS, which I had. I can proudly say I no longer have diabetes nor PCOS and feel so much healthier. I did have some complications which are not common and I am still dealing with them, but I would do it again.

    4 months out

You look fantastic! My surgery was 11/12/14 and I too was about 245 at my highest. I am now 179 and feeling great despite some complications. I would do it again and look forward to the future! Congratulations on your success!

    11 weeks 48 lbs gone

You look awesome! Contraindications on your success!
  4. Congratulations! You look great!
  5. My surgery was on 11/12/14 and i have been hospitalized twice since then for complications. Most recently i was released on 1/7/15 and am better for the most part. Now I am experiencing a very "heavy, cement" feeling starting in my chest and going down to my toes. It makes it hard for me to walk. Anyone else ever have this problem?
  6. Today is a horrible day. Hell, this week has been horrible. I am so naseous and i don't want to drink protein. Now I have a cold and all the nasty mucus is settling in my stomach. My body tried to throw up yesterday and today but there is not anything to throw up. I feel wretched and am regretting this surgery. Any one have this experience/feeling?

    Does everyone do this

I am 2 months out and was throwing up constantly (not even eating solid foods). My doctor did a lot of tests and it turns out I have ulcers so they have me on medication to heal them now. Also, taking a protonic daily helps.

    Protein drinks

I started with Premiere and got tired of them. I am now using Proti-Diet and love them.
  9. Oops, meant return to work on 1/26.
  10. I had Ruen Y on 11/12 and still have not returned to work due to complications. I am hoping to return on 11/26.

    Struggling with protein

I struggled with protein drinks and finally found Proti-Diet which really tastes good to me. Has 15 grams per serving which might not be as much as others but I can tolerate it so that is what matters to me.

    High blood pressure/birth control

I have never had issues with high blood pressure until the last few weeks. I was in the hospital (again) from 12/30 to 1/7 and my blood pressure was high. I have not checked since i was released but thinking i should. I also have not restarted my birth control but need to soon. I had a few headaches in the hospital but nothing since being released. Maybe that is good news??? My next follow up appointment is the 22nd and hopefully i will return to work on the 26th. BTW, my surgery was 11/12 and have experienced complications since then but am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

Can you see your body the way others do?

I am 2 months out and down 50 pounds but i dont feel like it. I still feel very heavy and fat. I have not gone shopping for clothes yet as I need to lose more. My goal is 145 pounds (or a size 8). I am currently 194. I think it is an adjustment for all of our brains and emotions we have to work through.

    Friday stages over!

I started eating solid foods last week and I really try to focus on protein and veggies first then small carb if needed. I also use a small kids tray that had divided sections and use a kid fork and spoon. I also am tracking all of my food and drink on My Fitness Pal to keep myself accountable. You can do this!

    Why did I do this?

Thank you all so much for your stories! I have been in and out of the hospital with complications since this post. Most recently I was released last January, the 7th. Thank God for my fiancée and his mother - they have been such a blessing helping me. I started losing my eyesight and i was still vomiting with nausea (and not eating). I did find protein drinks I liked (Proti-Diet) which helped. I thought I had a bad post nasal drip, mucous problem, but it turns out that the reflux was causing the nasal drip. I started eating solid food on January 6th after 2 months of no food (requirement of getting out of hospital) and it has really helped. Had my first issue today of eating something and it not setting well. My main problem now is I am staying up all night and sleeping during the day. Also, my body (especially legs) has a very heavy feeling which makes it hard to walk. I have got to start getting the exercise in! I also have ulcers that i am currently taking medication for but I am told the ulcers will heal. Overall, I am feeling better and more optimistic. There were definite dark days, and I am sure there will be some more, but I can see the light - finally. If anyone is still in doubt, don't give up. There will be better days...I promise. For me, I pray hard and envision a brighter future and it is working!
  16. I am 8 days post op and am not getting nearly enough protein. I was drinking Premiere but can no longer tolerate them. I sip at Isopur but really want something with substance. I have the unflavored protein powder by Pur but am tired of putting it in broths. I don't know what else to try and i have 2 more weeks of liquids to go! Any suggestions?
  17. Absolutely I feel like there is something coating my throat. I have brushed my teeth 3 times today! How long had it been going on for you? For me, about 2 weeks.
  18. @@jessica2014 The morning's are the worst for me. I am very naseous and very tired. This morning my body tried to throw up, which is a first for me. More, I have this horrible taste in my mouth and throat that goes away when I brush but comes back later in the day. I actually hate having to get up in the morning because it is so rough. :-(

    Taste in mouth

I have this and it is disgusting! I am brushing me more than i ever did pre-op. I am so thankful to hear it should go away.

    Advice or suggestions

I recently started experiencing naseau a few days ago for the first time (I am 3 weeks out). Saw my surgeon yesterday and he has ordered an upper GI to see how the liquids are moving through me and to determine if the hole he created is closing. I don't know if that is something you want to discuss with your doctor. By the way, love your name as I am a huge Star Wars fan.

    Nothing tastes good

I have the same issue. The thought of food or protein drinks makes me naseous. Needless to say I am not doing to well on protein consumption. The only thing that seems to not bother me is my decaf green tea. I know we are supposed to be patient but there are days i wish i had not done this surgery. :-(
  22. It's been almost three weeks post-op and my doctor still has me on liquids. I have started eating a little bit with a few bites of mash potatoes and had half a scrambled egg today. Neither came back up. However, I have been naseous the last fee days and I wasn't even naseous in the hospital. More, nothing tastes right and I have a constant "taste" in my mouth - no matter how much I brush my teeth. Also, I am always thirsty. Nothing quenches the thirst. Anyone else experiencing this?
  23. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate them!
  24. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. Ugh. The bright side I am first for surgery! Here's to all of us in the month of November! We got this.
  25. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning...ugh. At least I am first for surgery! Strangely I am not anxious, nervous or scared. Maybe I should be??? Here's to new beginnings for all of us!
