  2. @OKCPirate Do you mix a whole scoop of Protein powder in it or half? Half (I also put a half in my coffee in the morning) BTW, I mixed plain Greek yogurt in my tomato Soup instead of sour cream. You can substitute it for nearly everything you want that creamy flavor in.

    Rant from a single woman!

@VSGANN is dead on right on this. I recently read a couple of books about mate selection (Sex at Dawn and Why Women Have Sex) and women in particular do look for all sorts of subtle clues unconsciously about men. Hip to waist ratio, body symmetry. When they are attracted, how a guy smells becomes important to a woman, because this gives clues to his overall health and genes. This has nothing to do with "he's a nice person" these are all things we don't think about. These are things in our DNA to help with keeping the species going. It's not personal, it's really instinctual. The other side is your "danger" signal when someone appears to be a threat. These are all subtle unconscious things we do. It is a great blessing when someone finds the right person and has a great connection at a spiritual level. But that is rare, if we are lucky, maybe one or two people in our lives will have that deep of bond with us. But for the average person we know or bump into, the attraction cues are more important and body shape plays into it. To me this is fascinating stuff.

New Dating Site for Bariatric Patients!

OK, I've posted my profile, let's see what happens - I'll try anything twice

I think I got more booty when I was fat

@pinkbunies - then get more Protein, I'm having more fun than ever. The cool thing is I feel like I'm 19 again and I can handle it. Dang it's nice to be in shape again. Makes all the running, weight lifting and yoga worth it. I admit it, I don't exercise to lose weight, its so I am ready to really enjoy special activities.
  7. @B52 - "A surgical intervention to accomplish what I am not ashamed to say I could not do on my own with diets." I'm glad you are not ashamed either. I'm not. Once I realized just how much my body was actually fighting me to stay at my old weight and there was only an 8% chance I might succeed by diet. But I'm curious, B52 - why are you not ashamed?

What if it is hard to exercise

We are discussing this very subject here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/344935-exercise-for-the-sake-of-exercise/page-7#entry3890654 Here were my thoughts: My initial thought was this is the wrong site for this question. We are good at things baritric, but not people with mobility issues, so I googled: exercise for those with disabilities http://www.disableds...okwkaAgIL8P8HAQ http://www.disabled-...tness/exercise/ These forums may be great resources for you.

Never thought I'd consider cosmetic surgery

BTW, I am really enjoying this shirt: https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/mens-heatgear-renegade-compression-short-sleeve/pcid1236236-001 No smell, but you look like a superhero, and no jiggle.

@OutsideMatchInside - 99% of men on online dating sites give the rest of us a bad name . All you can do some dates is just smile, roll your eyes and say "waiter, check please."

    Weight loss app

If you are following a different recommended plan from your doctor or nutritionist, you can adjust many of your goals in our mobile apps or on our full site at www.myfitnesspal.com. (Mobile app users should log in using the same username and password they use in the app, when visiting the site). Website, Windows Phone and BlackBerry Users Log in to http://www.myfitnesspal.com in a web browser Click “My Home”, then “Goals”, then click the “Change Goals” button at the bottom of the page. Choose the “Custom” option and you’ll be taken to a page where you can set your own targets for all of the nutrients we track. Once you’ve saved your changes, those same changes will appear in the app the next time the app syncs to the website Windows Phone and BlackBerry users can adjust their Net Calorie goal directly in the app on the “More” page by tapping “Edit Profile” then “Net Calorie Goal.” In our Android and iOS apps Tap “Goals” in the Menu (or “More” page) Tap the settings to adjust your weight change and macronutrient goals (Fat, Protein Carbs) Tap “Advanced Nutritional Goals” to adjust additional micronutrient goals MyFitnessPal distributes fat, carb and protein calories based on a percentage, in five percent increments. If you customize your macronutrient goals, all three goals will adjust to total 100%. If you have a very precise goal, in grams, for protein, carbs, or fat, you may only be able to come close to setting that goal, based on the nearest percentage. If you wish to track a specific gram goal, we recommend monitoring the “total” value in your diary for this nutrient, rather than the “remaining” total.

    Should I chill out?

My surgery was on a Tuesday, Thursday I was at the mall, Saturday I went to an OU football game. (my results don't mean this will happen to you). Do what you can do, don't lift anything heavy and get used to your new sleeve. Oh and do dream and visualize what you are going to look like and do when you get closer to your goal. And don't forget, they pumped you full of IV fluids, so you are probably going to gain weight...this too shall, eh, pass.
  13. § Start getting in better shape. I walked, lifted, and did as much as I could 5 times a week getting ready for surgery. § Started practicing eating slower for lunch. § Watched many videos, talked to people who had been through it. § Oh, but best work was preparing for the mental changes with my therapist and worked through this book: http://www.amazon.co...=bariatric book § I drank a great deal of alcohol so I weaned myself off and slowly cut the caffeine. § Followed the pre-op diet to the letter § Shopped two weeks before surgery for the foods I would need for the first two weeks. § Revised my will and power of attorney just in case something went wrong § Tried pureed meal ideas and Protein drinks before surgery so I had some meal plans. Things I took that I liked: Laptop, earbuds, slip on shoes, pants with elastic, iPod with audio books, shorts. Oh, gas-x dissolving strips - take those. Wish I had brought my favorite Isopure drinks, but found a GNC near the hospital. Keep the bag light.

Exercise for the sake of exercise

My initial thought was this is the wrong site for this question. Rant from a single woman!

@AvaFern - perfect. Being fat keeps you from getting dates? I could go on the same rant about being single and 52. It's enough to make me want to lie about my age. Many women don't want to date a guy "in his 50's." [What is wrong with 22 year old girls today anyway *ahem* that was a JOKE]. @@SassyTassy - There is a butt for every seat. But I will say that if you have a chip on your shoulder about this, it will come through and block you from getting dates. You might even be scaring very nice guys away. Yes we should never disregard something because of the container, but we have eyes and we use them. We are bombarded by nearly 65,000 media images a day...and the ones with pretty women on them get more attention than any other -- and that is by both sexes (look at the covers of women's magazines).
  17. Look for Dannon's Oikos triple 0 - 15g Protein, 0 added sugar (stevia), 120 calories. I love all the flavors, but the coconut creme I mix with my chocolate Protein shake to give me a "I'm eating a Mounds bar" feeling

    Alcohol - when?

Most here recommend waiting a year. Put your energy (which is limited) into getting in better and better shape. Alcohol even in moderation slows you and your weight-loss down. You only have so much sleeve space, so putting empty calories in your system is not the best use of limited space. If you decide to drink down the road, you are going to handle it differently than before. Don't know how, some find that they get drunk very quick, some don't. Everyone's tolerance is different. Another caution - the rate of alcoholism for bariatric patients is higher than typically found in the general population. So be honest with yourself and talk it over in advanced with significant partners in your life.

My Libido has Increased After Surgery!

I'm single, so I had a while before I had an opportunity, it was about month. As I kept losing weight and got stronger it kept getting better and more rigorous. Now I expect things to go for 30 minutes or more. I am only dating women who work out, because a couch potato is going to have a tough time keeping up.

    Scared!

Good luck, I was terrified even though I researched the heck out of this. Woke up and was up and walking in less than 20 minutes, left my mom in the dust going around the halls. And then there was a new round of trepidation about drinking for the first time. It all worked perfectly. I can't tell you "you shouldn't be scared" we all are, but there are pioneers who have been through this before, and we can share our experience and give you some good hints. Congrats on beginning a new life.

I don't know if this belongs here, or "rants and raves"!

@CowgirlJane - "apparently men DO notice your state of mind and attitude too!" DAMN STRAIGHT. Two way street, both sexes find confidence attractive, needy and clingy icky. When your purpose is clear, you tend to focus on the right things. That was a great post.

I don't know if this belongs here, or "rants and raves"!

@roundisashape - good vent, now you can get serious about it again. It is akin to a job. It's serious at one level, but fun and rewarding at another. I am glad that I am at least Facebook Friends with most of the people I have met or dated. I liked them enough to ask them out but for a myriad of reasons it didn't work out. So that keeps me from getting frustrated. Relationship building is a dance, and some are naturally better at it than others, but don't quit dancing because some people have no rhythm.
