    Happy Veterans Day

A special shout out to my fellow veterans. Can you get back into your old uniform yet? If so, show it off. It's our day. And thank you to every taxpayer and citizen for giving me the privilege of serving in the best armed service on earth. Cpt. Kirk
  2. Just on a whim I made my chocolate protein shake with Isopure Coconut flavor. 30g of protein, and the chocolate and coconut are better than the mounds bars I remember. I am going to have to do some more made scientists experiments like this

@@4MRB4PHOTO - Not really. We on a WLS site. If this was FB, it would be different. But it dawned on me 81% of people who have WLS are women, men are 90% of the Veterans. So the number of possible Vets on this site actually might be very low. Oh well, gave it a shot.

    Running shoes

@@SleeveSoon I found these: https://www.peltzshoes.com/Mens/ASICS/RUNNING/RUNNING/T2L3N.9358%204E/ based on recommendations from friends in the running club. No injuries, so I am good with them.
  5. I'm doing digging being a member in good standing in the First Church/Cult of Protein. Also all the little NSV's. May not be the clearest picture I've ever taken, but notice there is nearly a foot of slack in my seat belt on my flight yesterday. A year ago I was fretting having to use the extender (which gets you kicked out of the exit row). There was lots of space. Think about all the extra wear and tear we are not subjecting ourselves to by being smaller.

You know you lost weight when

I noticed today the seat belt has about a foot of slack today. Last year I fretted if I could suck in the gut enough to avoid the "extender of shame" ????
  8. Dang...well I say that at the airport too. it's an important piece of equipment, so don't do it until they get it fixed

    PAIN! Advise please!

I echo what @@KindaFamiliar suggested, as well as taking your old walking shoes to a GOOD athletic shoe store and letting the sales person look at the wear pattern. Better shoes might make it more comfortable. Maybe not, but its worth looking into.

    Huge NSV for me!

@@MrsRoboto - That is so dang cool. Please print that post out and put on the fridge. Remind yourself, you did this so you could be the MOM your kids deserve and you want to be. Congratulations MOM.

    Running shoes

@@MichelleTN - BTW, great job trying the C25K program. Here are some tips I found from my start back in March: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/332044-tools-hacks-and-tips/?hl=%2Bplaylist#entry3751744

    Running shoes

Take a pair of old walking/running shoes with you when you pick out your new ones. A GOOD worker there can see the wear pattern and help you pick out a good pair (some strike the ground with their toes, others with their heals and some pronate to the side). BTW further note as you lose weight your needs in footwear will change. When I was at my heaviest I needed a shoe called THE BEAST from Brooks. Now I wear lighter weight Asics. So while you are getting some solid advice here, it might not be the best for you.

@@pindoctor - What is your Protein level? Are you tracking it? I was surprised how much I had to supplement early on, and I still use 15g a day to get over 100g. The reason I ask is I was one of those few people who enjoys Isopure clear drinks. I used them from the beginning and my energy level never dropped post surgery. It's worth looking into.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

@@dmedic72 I started doing T shots a few years ago. And while I expected to increase the amount by 1% per year to make up for the expected average drop in production. One year post surgery I actually need to decrease my dosage by nearly 40%. My levels were just too high after the last test. This is post rapid fat loss hormone dump (which is significant and discussed in the guy's room). I'd give you the exact numbers but the web site where it's stored is doing maintenance. Interesting fact, your testosterone level will drop when you quit smoking. Or after you become single after 40. But it will increase when you lose fat. Which explains many of the posts on this topic.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

I feel your pain. I'm in love with a woman who does marathons for fun and is planning on doing the Kona Tri. Oh well, pass the lube and soldier on my friend. A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do. Lie back, think of England and all that.

@@B-52 - Just to tell you how much times have changed...Two years ago I was in New Orleans, ran into a Marine in his dress blues in the hotel on my way to Bourbon St. I asked him why he wasn't heading out...Well he was told by his superious that it might be dangerous. My response was, "Well hell, get behind me, to get to you they got to get through me." Well that got the Marine mojo going. If you ever want to get free beer on Bourbon St. go down there with a Marine in uniform. Glad America changed.

No matter how politically justified someone may feel about about US foreign policy, blaming the veteran is ignoring the wisdom of those who have come before: "The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by our nation." -- George Washington Thanks B-52
