Telling about surgery
kikicoates78 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am far from ashamed, but I chose to not tell people other than my immediate family. No it's NOT a lie if u omit certain parts of your weight loss journey. I do a food diary, I count every calorie, carb, protein, and sugar. I worked hard at the gym and I make the right dietary decisions in my weight loss. I am a very passionate person. I get a little heated and excited. So I know the first snide remark I was given I would kick someone in the throat ☺️ that's why I chose to keep it to myself ???? I think Steve is just a bit righteous and long winded! -
I also had to keep a thorough food log for my 2 week post op and my surgeon went over it with me and it was all ok. It's kinda funny to see all the different ways they do things!

I was only on clear liquids 24 hours! Released home from the hospital on full liquids for 10-14 days as tolerated. And then purée/ soft foods for 10-14 days as tolerated. Then on to your normal foods. So within a month on reg lifetime diet.

Oh see I never really took mine. I just have them for just in case. Lol I guess I have been super lucky and have rock star sleeve. ????????

Regrets after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, is this normal?
kikicoates78 replied to Wmc1231's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely normal!!! I was about a week post ok and I kept thinking what have I done!!! Had my 1st emotional break down at 2 weeks post op. I think it was just lack of carbs I am now 3 weeks post op and feeling 100x better. Once you heal and u find a normalcy in your routine and diet it makes it much easier. My scales have slowed down this week (dreaded 3 week stall) but our finally moving again. It's definitely life changing. Keep your head up! It will get better -
Day 3 Post Op still in Hospital ...
kikicoates78 replied to living55's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was walking as soon as I woke up in recovery! I was not gonna let it get me! I only stayed over night. I couldn't imagine 3 days. Hope u find some relief soon! -
I'm 3 weeks out and on purée/soft foods. I skipped the purée. And just eat soft foods. I only have one more week till I'm on regular whole foods. Seems like u all are on extremely extended liquid phases? I don't think I could have done it that long. I'm eating beans and cheese, eggs, full soups like chili, broccoli cheddar, and veggie soup. I even minced up so me grilled shrimp on my birthday. All has been fine.

Problematic Foods
kikicoates78 replied to audefacere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've tolerated everything. I was expecting to have issues. But so far so good. -
Wouldn't see why emitrol would be contraindicated. I have Zofran.

Didn't ur Dr give u anti nausea meds?

I never feel full...
kikicoates78 replied to DarthVixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I only eat 3 meals a day and one snack. I can't eat every 2 hours. I tried it's exhausting. Lol I'm only 3 weeks out and in the middle of soft food phase. Start reg. foods in a week. Maybe then I will feel more restricted. I feel full, although I feel like I eat more than I should be. I also know u can fit more of these foods in. But I think the key is learning to eat ur 3 meals and maintaining a normal eating schedule. -
I just want to go to the bathroom! UGH

The sugar free chocolate did the trick ladies! -
I was too! They were all shocked. But I only had minor gas pains, I'm a nurse and was determined to beat the gas! I made hubby go home at bed time and got up the day after surgery and showered and was dressed ready to go home by the time hubby got back!

That's how they do it laparoscopically is they blow u up with gas ???? walk walk walk. It super sucks. But that's all u can do.

@@JCP I'm 3 weeks out. A week into soft foods per my surgeons food phase. I have started eating some beans this week. Still taking colace at night and Mirilax. I went a little and it did give me some relief. -

Mmm I need to get those! It's my favorite! Lol like I said I've always fought with it. Usually activia daily helped. But I've cut out sugar so haven't had any. So I've done colace for 2 days and took Mirilax today. I finally moved a little. I'm sure when I do break loose I'm gonna feel soooo much better. Lol -

Mine depends in the food. If it's more solid 1/4 cup. But if it's still super soft or soupy I can do 1/2 cup. -

Yes a lot of times it's just removed. But mine was healthy so he opted to leave it in. I only have to be on it during extreme weightloss. He seems to think I will lose the bulk of my weight the 1st 4-6 months. I can discontinue when my weight loss evens out.
