Lapband comes out Wednesday , then in 3 month the sleeve
stantog replied to Ann Fielder's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went from band to sleeve. Only two weeks post op for the sleeve. Yes doctor explained that due to a lot of scaring from the band that the weight loss will be slower, but still very successful. It's still a tool at the end of the day and depends on how you use it. However, I realised that I just couldn't live with the band anymore with the side effects. My doctor that did the sleeve stopped doing bands 4 years ago due to the side effects and higher complications. He said that there is a big difference between quality of life and he no longer wanted to promote the band. I don't regret anything ???? -

Yeh Michelle, I actually have moved since I got the band done and I went to see a different doctor for the sleeve. He actually stopped doing the sleeve 4 yrs ago due to the side effects and complications. So glad I had it removed. I know it's going to be a bit slower, but it will all be worth it in the long run

I was sleeved on the 18th as well and I'm feeling great now. First week was hard. With post op diet to now I've lost 20pounds or nearly 9-10 kgs my dr said I'd have slower weight loss as I was a revision. IE went from band to sleeve. Either way still happy. I'm mainly drinking Gatorade drinks as I'm not tolerating water that well. Otherwise yogurts, custards, cheese, shakes and anything blended into purée. Made korma curry last night and just blended a cup in the wizz machine and it was awesome. Mind you only ate half but was great to get some flavours in. Well done everyone. Hardest part is done ????

You poor thing. I had a 45 min car ride home through traffic and I couldn't think of anything worse than staying in car for 5 hours. Just take it slow. Xx

I only had steri strips as well. I think they used a glue or something. But otherwise today finally starting to half feel normal. Still moving slowly and tummy pain, which I agree is like my muscles are rejoining. I think I've cleared all the anesetic and my head feels clearer. Great nights sleep. Only up once to walk a little and take meds. Just walked after to make sure they went down. I got on the scales this morning and I'm down 4kg since Tuesday day of surgery. But still think it's just fluid and worried of dehydration. One day at a time ????

After my first night at home not so bad. Still in a lot of pain but that's mainly because I had complications. I found out more that there was an unusual artery in the lining of my fat stomach which they cut whilst removing stomach and obviously a lot of bleeding etc ???? I also had a large hernia removed from the previous Lapband that they had to fix. So muscle wise I'm aching but my head is getting little bit clearer. I'm shocking after anesetic. Just really glad that first part and the hardest part is over. Thinking of everyone xx

I love hearing that some of you got through relatively unscathed lol ???? but I feel for any that had complications. Even though I had complications looks like they are letting me go home this afternoon. Yehhh. I'm just paranoid about getting the balance right between how many mls per hour or not over doing it and causing a leak. Hopefully we will all find our way. Getting the measuring jug out when I get home to make sure. Good luck everyone xx

I had to ask the doctor that as well. I think it's like a hernia where my band was previously. From what I gather anyway. I've never heard of it before lol.... Hope everyone else going ok.
