My name is Elaine. I was sleeved on October 9,2014. My starting weight was 293 in January. I didn't loose all the weight my surgeon wanted me to. I an diabetic and when my insulin was increased I gained weight. I was able to lose what I gained plus a few pounds more. My surgeon took all that in to consideration. I have always been heavy, but the last 25 years became out of control. I was ok with it, just felt that this is the way I am wired. I felt it bothered other people more than it bothered me. My main reason for surgery is the diabetes. I don't want to go on dialysis or lose my eye sight or a limb. All other diets failed, this is the last resort,
At almost 4 weeks out, I admit I have had my share of pity parties. Crying and really hating life. Feeling sorry for myself and regretting having surgery. I couldn't get past the liquid stage. I wanted real food. I have one more day of puree and then I will be starting soft foods. Still looking forward to having more than 3 ounces at a time.
I am finally past the pity parties and no longer regret having the surgery and look forward to a very active life.
I appreciate the support and ideas I have seen on bariatric pal. Thank you so much for being there!
