    Staple foods/quick meals?

I always have some of those individual serving apple-sauces. I like the pear flavor, but there are many different flavors for a variety. I keep the tiny individual serving dinty moore beef stews, raviolois, single serving soups etc on hand when I travel for work, etc. Small cans of tuna or salmon. SF puddings, jellos are a staple.

    now what

Monkey is right...........if there is a documented exclusion in the policy, then I'd say your only route would be self-pay. Check into financed options. And comparison shop as you would any other high cost item. Keeping in mind physician credentials. etc..........cost isn't everything.

    Severe Pain..

You will be fine, but it probably does need to come out. Your insurance will approve it I'm sure. Its a common occurance after a large weight loss. Thinking back to my former surgical nurse days, I doubt your doc would have even considered taking out your GB at the same time as a LB. He would most likely do it either before or after.....it's just too big of a surgery (even tho most are done laproscopically now) to do it in conjuction with a LB. You'll be fine..............just take a deep breath and relax. I've had the surgery myself, and went thru it just fine. Recovery time (if done laproscopically) is about a week. (same as the LB) Rarely does a stone block a duct, or do something "funky". Most of the time the stones just cause indigestion, pain, etc........ So, hang on, get that surgical consultation, insurance approval and "get er done". You'll feel much better afterwards. Good luck!

    Hello everyone

Depends on your insurance company. Find out their criteria and go from there. I am 5' 7" also with a starting weight of 222. Just about like you. I have FEDERAL employee BCBS and was approved in very little time. My only comorbidity was severe reflux causing multiple aspirations pneumonias yearly.
  5. My recovery was the same, I was back at my desk in 4 days. My HH was large and man was I soooo glad to have it fixed. I had reflux really bad resulting in aspiration pneumonias several times a year. Haven't had heartburn or reflux since my surgery date of May 7, 2008.

    Family Photos

A few months ago, there was a thread I replied on where we discussed the one thing we wanted to do when we were almost at goal or AT goal. My "one thing" was that I wanted to have a family photo done that I would be proud to display in my home. Well, we did it...........although I'm not at goal, I'm within 20 lbs of it. So.....while the kids were here at Xmas, we had our family portraits done..........and I am finally proud enough to share them......... So...........what's your "one thing" and have you done it yet???? Please share........

How many cc for first fill in 4cc band?

I think I got 2cc for my first fill, then around .5 for the subsequest fills, except for my last one 2 months ago, which was only .1cc. I have 3.8cc total in my 4cc band.

  10. yes, we are rooting for you. hang in there, i know its frustrating, but sounds like it can be fixed. and i agree, we all need to learn to listen to that inner voice......I know i'm bad about that! Good luck sweetie!
  11. Just doesn't sound right. I have 3.8cc in my 4cc band with perfect restriction. Doc said that the 4cc band can hold over 4cc if needed (but not tons more)

Me in my size 14 jeans... Christmas 2008

    YOu look fabulous!
  13. Well, all I can say is I'm very happy! Sure, you still have problems like you did before, but you feel so much better about yourself! I have always been a pretty happy person in my personal and professional life, but looking good really lifts the spirits.
  14. Nope they don't Even though I had only about 70 lbs to lose, they just don't bounce back. I went from a 42DD to a 36DD "long" LOL Will consider a lift once I lose the last 20 lbs if my pocketbook can afford it.

    constipation!

I use Miralax on a daily basis. Just cant' go without it. My surgeon and Family Practitioner both assured me it is fine to use daily and not "addictive" as most laxitives can be.

Turkey Day - at my house?!?!

Sounds like you pulled it off beautifully! Great job! You know, we all have those moments where we mourn food, but I have found that as I lose the weight, the mourning is replaced by excitement. I only have 20 lbs left til goal and the feeling is incredible. Good luck as you continue on your journey.........

    Happy 6 Month Bandiversary!!!

My bandiversary is May 7th. I'm down about 45 pounds and only 30 more to go. I'm so glad I did it. Wouldn't go back for anything. What have a learned? Lets see: 1) That I can use food only to to nourish myself and not to reward myself 2) That every event or occasion isn't about food-it's about family and friends 3) That I have control over what I put in my mouth 4) That there IS a thin girl inside there somewhere and she WILL come out! LOL
  20. I pay a $30 co-pay (Federal BC BS)
  21. Thanks for asking the question. I'm 51 and needing to do the baseline scope myself and have been wondering about having it done now that I have the band.

    Let's talk Lovenox

Its really no big deal. The needle is a very small gauge. My doctor required self lovenox injections for 3 weeks post op.

    What causes all this gas?

I don't have a gallbladder, so must be something else for me..........
  24. I always wear a wire. Now, granted while I was home recovering for 4 days I was bra-less, but once I went back to work, I went right back to a wire. My port is low enough that it doesn't bother me.
