5'7" here and love my heels..........and get this..........the taller you are, the thinner you look! LOL
-
I would say that if you are having to even ask this question then there is definately a reason and you believe he must be cheating..........your gut instinct is telling you something is out of sorts......a faithful husband should NOT be texting a 21 year old behind your back. NO exceptions! Good luck, and I hope it turns out to be nothing.

I think it depends on the person. Personally, I have great difficulty eating just very high protein. The weight just doesn't come off, although many of my friends are successful at it. I just eat a balanced meal incorporating all food groups and find this works for me.

LOL......well, I was looking at mine in the mirror last night after my shower and it looks like a deflated balloon......so sad!!! Gonna have to look into PS seriously..... And I have only had to lose about 75 pounds (funny to hear myslef say "only" 75)........and have only been heavy the last 10 yrs of my life, so I kinda expected less sagginess, but I am 52 so....... oh well...........the spanxx are extremely helpful. Between spanxx and Victoria's secret, no one knows it xcept me and the hubby........my arms looks decent, my face has no saggy chin skin, so its all "underneath" LOL

Should I gain weight?!?!?
justmel1957 replied to david6789's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Contact your insurance provider or case manager and find out more specifics. There may be a lower BMI requirement if you have other approved co-morbidities. I had the same type of problem. However, since my medical records had multiple occurences of aspiration pneumonia due to night time relflux (from my weight) they covered. For co-morbidities the BMI requirement was 35. Good luck. -
When do you eat your last meal?
justmel1957 replied to hollisterblondie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't fret on the "last meal" thing.............. I had my last meal several times b4 my pre-op diet started (LOL) but what I've learned at this point is that I can still occasionally have the foods I enjoy but I only want a few bites of it and can move on.......so, I haven't given up really anything-I just don't crave it anymore and a bite or 2 does the trick. -
my husband is driving me insane!!!!
justmel1957 replied to katie35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He is either: 1) truly concerned about your well-being OR..... 2) trying to throw a kink in your plan due to fear and insecurity. Only you know your husband and can decide which reaction he is having. I would have a long discussion with him and talk it through. If you have indeed made your decision on having the surgery, then make him aware of your reasons why and proceed. Just go into it knowing why he is suddenly back-peddling and if it is due to insecurities be ready....... Good luck.......... -
I just knew what I wanted to weigh from the get-go. I knew what weight I looked and felt best at and set that as my goal.......

Exercise will help a lot. Then its either plastic surgery or a drawer full of spanxx!

Any tips on survivng the Preop Diet
justmel1957 replied to rmanns00's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My pre-op diet was for 30 days. No sugar, no fat, no sodium. It was hardest thing I ever did..........ever! I just tried to keep my eyes on the final goal and kept telling myself that it was only temporary. But, dang, it was so hard. The sodium thing was the worst......the fat and sugar was ok, but no sodium was a killer! (and I don't mean salt, I mean sodium) -
Nuts... particularly almonds... perfect for a plateau!
justmel1957 replied to kgloverii's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree............I do a small serving of almonds most days. I LOVE the cinnamon ones you mentioned. Everything you said I would agree to......... Love the "crunch" from them also........makes me think I'm having something more "sinful" LOL They also take a while to chew up which means I don't overeat on them. I haven't noticed they really help my weight loss in particular, but they do have some good health benefits. I've been eating more blueberries too this summer..... As you mentioned, you do need to be mindful of the calories and fat content, but I whole heartedly agree! -
In the deciding phase of having surgery- has anyone regretted having the surgery?
justmel1957 replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't necessarily refrain from reading negative posts. Read everything you can, good and bad.......lots of negative experiences came from folks who were 100% compliant and had issues from no fault of their own. Be aware and learn all you can from everyone who has been there. My surgery was 13 months ago. Personally I have no regrets and the journey has thankfully been an easy one for me. I didn't experience bandster hell like lots of others and had a consistent loss from day one. So YES I would do it again, no doubt! And although I don't expect any problems I am always aware of the possibility. Good luck to all of you who are waiting and deciding......I hope your experience is a good one and you are soon on your way to a new, healthy you! -
Never thought I'd say "can I try a size 10 in this , please?" LOVE it!!!

Fast Approaching 1 Year Bandiversary!
justmel1957 replied to Miss Michelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Y'all! It's been a while since I've been in this thread group, but it looks like most of us are plugging right along. I'm at goal now............my 1 year bandiversay was May 7th. Weighing in around 150 lbs or so. (5"7") and would like to lose 10 more but if that doesn't happen am perfectly fine with where I am now. Which is about a 90 lb loss over the year. Soooooo glad I decided to take the plunge and go for the band. I feel great and buying those size 10 or 12 clothes is exilerating! Congrats to all of us!!!! Isn't it amazing what a difference a year can make???? -
Does Anyone Else Have This Problem??!!
justmel1957 replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to be like that (weighing all day, every day) until I had my surgery (1 year ago). At that time I promised myself I would only weigh at my monthly Doctor appts. I have kept that promise. I'm glad I did. It is much less frustrating for me. I'm now at goal (actually less than goal) and have just now bought a new digital scale to weigh on weekly. (because I now only have to see the doctor every 2 months and want to keep a closer eye on my weight). I know myself, and I get too obsessed with the numbers, so weighing myself daily is just toooo much for me. To each his own. Do what works for you. -
Is there such a thing as a SUPPORTIVE strapless bra?
justmel1957 commented on julie.ann's blog entry in My Secret Journey
Man, I wish I knew! I too need PS and am saving up to have "the girls" done, but in the meantime am in the same boat as you. Would love to find a great strapless Support. I love Victorias Secret Very Sexy push up and Miracle bras but they are not strapless. I need to go back into VS and see if they have anything they would recommend. I have gone from a 42DD to a 36DD. -
Arixtra Injections...anyone else get these?
justmel1957 replied to phenry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used Lovenox (also a thinner) injections for 10 days post op. My doc requires it for all patients. -
Does your bra cause more restriction?
justmel1957 replied to OneHotMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, you aren't crazy. I notice the same thing at times. I'm 13 months post op and at goal, but do notice it from time to time. Also after I get a fill it is noticable. -
Wierd situation with my eyes
justmel1957 replied to Bdoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most likely you ruptured vessels in your eyes from the strain of throwing up. I would however, give your doctor another call, or have your eye doctor check them out. The tissue puffiness AROUND the eye could be something as simple as allergies. But you won't know unless you see your provider. -
GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR NOW!!! Blood is a serious thing.......please take care of yourself!

Yes, anything that resembles coffee grounds is old blood. You must get to the doctor asap! -

Chronic vomiting and the band
justmel1957 replied to lapbandtalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow......I'm sure both of you are struggling. Your bodies are probably hanging onto every calorie thinking you were in "starvation mode". Not having been there as far as the bad problems, I really can't offer advice, but am rooting for you. I would think that getting plenty of exercise and eating "healthy" might help you, but like I said, I'm in the dark on this one. This might be a good time to join a group such as Weight Watchers or other support system that requires weekly weigh ins, etc. Controlling your appetite will be the hard part. Keep us posted. I'm a little over a year post-band and am maintaining, but not really losing (but would like to lose 5-7 more just for some play room). But, am at goal weight and am very very happy with how I look etc. I do worry about issues with the band that would require an un-fill or removal, but try to dont dwell on those possibilities. Gotta keep on keeping on. Hope things work out for both of you!
