My taste buds have changed and my food desires. I no longer want butter, bread, cake, hot dogs, bacon or sausage. The meats and butter put a slimed fat in the roof of my mouth that's just yucky. The breads and cakes are heavy and not desirable. I still enjoy a small piece of extra dark chocolate from time to time. Pasta is too sticky. Love my roasted veggies and cottage cheese. I'm four months out and thrilled with lapband to sleeve. I had the band for 7 years and gained weight, diabetes and 2 partial knees during that time. I am now off all meds and no longer have high cholesterol, diabetes, or high blood pressure. I do not compare my weight loss to others as we are all different. I am thankful for the opportunity to be healthy. I am down three sizes and can do yoga, go walking and exercise on the wii. I plan on walking trails, canoe day trips and zip lining this summer. Life's good!

Constipation...and heartburn.. at 7 weeks?
babe58 replied to sarina55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm six weeks out this coming Monday. Same bathroom problems! It's terrible! I did smooth move tea last 2 times. Started 1 Colace a day (just this evening). Do you think it's cause we eat the protein first and have limited room for veggie and fruit? This is the third weekend I've had this problem. -
Glad you are doing well. Welcome to the land of sleeve.

Beautiful picture-the smile says it all! Congrats! -
I was on protein shakes, liquid protein in water and broths. I didn't eat much jello and didn't like the Popsicles. Good luck.

My sister is an RN and also recovered Bariatric patient. She said the back pain can be from sleeping on back also. Most of us are side sleepers.

December Surgery Thread - we rock!
babe58 replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi friend, I had my revision from band to sleeve on the 8th of December. I'm pleased with my progress. I'm healing well and enjoying my protein shakes, cream soups and yogurts. I'm down 13 pounds. I am able to kind of lay on my side which is great! Hope all are happy and healthy. It doesn't bother me to see others eat. I am excited about eating an egg eventually. -
Dustin, hope it's going well! I had revision Monday and I'm pleased. Hope your getting stronger each day!

Do you notice how much others eat?
babe58 replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had revision surgery last Monday. I don't care about food but enjoy looking at it when others eat it because I feel like I have power over it! It's just food! I told my sister that I wanted to poke my husbands sausage biscuit with a stick and tease it like a possum : ) -
Bring saline, bio teen chap stick. They were a great help to me. I'm recovering and stayed with my diet like a flea on a blue tick coonhound! Walk walk walk the walk some more. Sipping is key also. You guys and dolls know this but I'm proof that it can be done. Peace to you all !

Today is all liquid diet! The last 2 weeks of pre diet with protein shakes went faster than I thought. This is the last day with a typical tummy. Tomorrow we al will be sporting a banana tummy. We're Almost there. God Bless you all!

Hurts more than I thought
babe58 replied to Mstdst13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had thane shoulder pain when I had my lapband seven years ago. Rocking in my rocking chair really helped. Of course put a pillow across the tummy when you do it. That really helped. My sisters a nurse and had the same pain with her bypass ( the same day( she came up with that idea. We also walked around the block . -
I'm the 8th at 10:39. Think about how your health is going to be so much better!

I'm using Bariatric Advantage proteins and vitamins. This is what my doctor requests for his patients. The vitamins are not offensive at all. I like the vanilla protein best because you can do so much with it as the base of shakes.

Got my date! Dec. 10th , so excited!
babe58 replied to jenmc2404's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understood from my surgeon that pre op diet shrinks the liver and assist in making a better visual field during the procedure. It also prepares the patient for the post op expectation for proper nutrition and healing. I had bariatric surgery previously (lapband) and I do feel that the strict guidelines assisted my journey for having a successful surgery and recovery. I hope everyone does well on their pre op diets. -

I had to fix the turkey and dressing today and sweet potatoes! I won! Day 4 of pre op diet! Had my shakes, vitamins, water and put up my moms tree while the family are the feast!!! I win!!! My favorite meal is the Thanksgiving meal but I enjoyed my protein shake and thankful for my upcoming revision. Who else is on the pre op diet ? My surgery date is Dec 8th.

Thank you friends. I've found combinations for shaking up my shakes having done the pre op once before 8 years ago for my Lapband I've become a little bit more savy on keeping it interesting. This mornings lovely shake was rinsed mandarin orange, a dash of vanilla flavoring, a smidgins of cinnamon and vanilla protein. The ninja did the rest. Last night a tablespoon of pumpkin, a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon with vanilla protein. I love to cook so I'm expanding my skills into shakes. I pray that all are well and taking vitamins and preparing for our journey on the Sleeve-Train.
