    Pain Meds?

I'm allergic to opiods. I was on a pump with something in it right after surgery that worked really well. Just tell your doctor about your aversion. mine had a solution that worked great.

    LCHF?

I've been told the same things. Low Carbs and lean Protein. I've also been told to stay away from starches or keep them to a bare minimum. It really sounds like the PALEO diet to me.

70 Pounds Down 9 days post op.

From the album: Before & After

I'm down 70 pounds from the start of my VSG process (pre-op program and surgery). My Weight in this picture is 236
  10. Hello Sleevers, I weighed myself in the am and was 238. Yay!! 10 pounds in 8 days. Now I weigh myself this evening and I'm 240. I'm only drinking Protein shakes and a half cup of Soup for lunch. Total calories is about 470. I'm also walking at a brisk pace for an hour for exercise. It's not the calories. The only thing diffrent today was that I managed to get about 58 ounces of Water down. So, I think this could be just water weight and it will all work it's way out eventually. Has anyone else had or seen this?

    IT'S OFFICIAL!

    Congratulations!!
  13. Hello Sleevers, I am coming up on my 1 week post-op of a band to sleeve revision. I've been following my post op diet with shall we say is a "reigious ferver". To be completey open, it isn't hard. I"m only drinking Protein shakes (1 cup unsweetened almond milk and 1 scoop protein powder). I use almond milk because real milk and soy milk upsets my stomach. The 1st few days, I could only get about a half cup of the Protein shake down in 1 sitting. Now, I can get an entire cup down, but it takes me about an our to do it. I'm full afterwards (about a 6-7 on the fullness scale) and don't crave or want anything else. About 3 days ago I started adding a 1/2 cup of Soups (wild mshroom and tomato) to my diet. I added them for a bit of a change. These are 2 soups I use to love. Now... meh... their OK I guess. Certainly nothng worth obsessing about. I'm only drinking Water and a cup of coffee and am managing about 50- 60 ounces a day. I'm only interested in water, and not anything else that has flavor. Here is what concerns me (well not exactly concern but certainly is a radical shift from my past feelings about food). I thought the post op diet would be hard like it was with my band. But now, I'm not really that interested in food. Since my Ghrllin levels have went down, I'm not hungry and don't really think about food. I'm just fine with staying on Protein Shakes and really am not obsessing about eating solid food at all. It would be nice as achange... but it's just not something that I'm overly excited about or even think about at the moment. I think that even when I'm on solid food again, this is pretty much going to be the same. This is a complete 180 from what it was like before the band and with the band. My question to those out there that have went through this, is, have you experienced this and does it eventually wear off to some extent or is this the way it is from now on? Regards, Babelfish5
  14. I'm not sure what has changed as far as taste. The things I do eat taste the same, it's just that the impact of the taste is much less. I think that's the best way of putting it. My lack of hunger and lowered desire for food is my main question at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great. This is a complete 180 from where I was before. At the moment it's like food has absolutely no power over me at all. I eat because I have to and not because I want to. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and can shed some light on what I can expect next.

    Pre-op liquid diet

@@holliwood1980 Focus on the goal and benefits. Drink low cal/no cal fluilds. Avoid sugary drinks like the plauge. And dink drink drink, then, when your done drinkng..... drink some more. With myself, I found that I felt hungry when I didn't drink alot. Keeping Fluid in my stomach helped me alot on the pre-op diet. Good luck.

    5 hrs and counting

    Good Luck!! It's worth it.
  20. I've taken phenteremene before, and they definately work for me. But, I think that 25 pounds in 2-3 weeks is an unrealistic goal. Your going to have to go to extremes to get that kind of weightloss.
  21. My insurance company approved after 10 days. I would think that with 2.5 years of the band not working and the issues you have had, there would be no problem getting approved. Good luck!

    Going from Band to Sleeve

My band never really worked for me. I got mine in 2006. I felt that I needed to get it revised because I started having issues with it. Pain, vomiting, slime and nausea were always there. My band surgeon told me nothing was wrong. In hindsight, I should have never had it .I had to many problems with it and not enough weight loss. No regrets on the revision so far. It's good to have the band gone. I'm seeing results and feeling much better now.

    Going from Band to Sleeve

Just had my band revised to a sleeve on the Nov. 4th. It went fairly smooth with only a few issues. My recovery is going well and my pain and swelling is almost gone. so far, sfter surgery, I only have had Protein shakes with no desire to eat anything else. Your going to be just fine. Pre-op is always a tough time. It's the time you have the biggest doubts and start to rthink. Power through it, its going to be fine. Only you can succeed at the pre-op diet. The only advice I can say is that it's worth the effort and you will be glad you had the revision. Good Luck!
