My understanding is the sugar intake is something to be cautious of as well. Like luluc, I enjoy my wine and account for it (most of the time) in my daily caloric intake. I'm not saying I drink wine everday, but I do 1-2 times per week. I also work out and it hasn't seemed to slow down my weight loss. Thanks for all the good info Jena!! Salut!!

Glad you started this thread Angie as I have been out of the loop for awhile!! I've basically had NO restriction since 2 weeks post-op. My first fill he only gave me 1cc and that didn't do SQUAT!:bolt: I was all excited to go to my second fill appt yesterday thinking "ok, this time he'll be more agressive and put in 2-3cc's". I weighed in, got into the exam room and when he walked in he said "hey there....you seem to be right on track by losing 4 pounds". I told him "4 pounds in a month? That's right on track?". He said, "yep, 4-9 pounds is what we expect with band patients". Oh well, I thought, just get me up on that table and start fillin'!! He then says "so, keep up the good work and we'll see you in a month". *Cut to me with my mouth on the ground looking like I just got sucker punched* "WHOAAAAAA", I said, "You're not going to give me a fill? You're joking right? I'm hungry all the time and it's only thru pure willpower that I'm losing any weight at all!! Because the band sure isn't working as a "tool"!! So, to make a VERY long story short, I begged and pleaded and he agreed to give me another "micro-fill"....1cc......gee, thanks Doc!! So, let me get this straight. The only way I qualify for a fill is if I lose less than 4 pounds in a month or gain weight?!!! Needless to say, I left thankful that I got SOMETHING, but discouraged that I've been through all of this and the sickening reality is that I am doing it on my own! I have to wait another month and god knows what will happen then. I surely don't want to intentionally slow my weight loss or god forbid GAIN WEIGHT just so I can get a more agressive fill!! So, for now I will continue eating like a lapbander and exercising like I have been in the hopes that the scale continues to move in the right direction. And I will hope that next month I get another fill in the hopes of one day knowing what it feels like to have TRUE restriction. Sorry for the rant.....on a lighter note......I'm happy to hear of everyone's progress and GREAT NSV's. Thanks for all your support:smile2: Amy

Sorry if my honey-baked ham confession "made you crazy". I didn't feel good about eating the amount that I did and was trying to commiserate with the rest of us struggling with our choices. Thanks....

I had wine 3 weeks post-op (doc said it was ok) and have enjoyed a glass or two every week since. I've had no problems and the scale is still moving in the right direction!

Becca...you are hysterical!! And the fact that you are almost halfway to goal is AMAZING!! I'll be happy to give you that finger-wagging "uh-uh-uh" you are looking for , but then I'd be a TOTAL hypocrite!! Yeah, last week was bad for me. My evil demons of stress eating reared their ugly heads :crying:. Between the pizza, hamburger, steak and red wine, I think it's safe to say I fell off the wagon!! HOWEVER.....I did workout like a madwoman and fortunately the scale has stayed put. But it doesn't feel good to know that I didn't stick to my healthy eating plan. I didn't even do the "everything in moderation" thing, I basicaly ate like sh*t all week!! So, I'm just going to have to dust off the crumbs (literally) and focus on the week ahead, starting with a butt-whooping workout first thing in the morning!! Can't look back...can only look forward and the reality is there are going to be good and bad weeks throughout this journey.....such is life!! Confession over. Hang in there Double V's!! -Amy -
Great update, Kendra!! So glad you can get to MDA and start the stompin' process!! Also glad to hear that you are at a comfortable place with your band!! Bandpal- you are too cute!! Now I've got that song stuck in my head!! Look forward to your next update, Kendra. I'm prayin' for ya girl!! Just Keep Stomping!! Love, Amy

Angie...you beat me to the punch on posting this thread!! I have been eating too much and not making the greatest food choices. Thankfully, I've been sticking to my exercise, but I feel hungry all the time!! I'm on vacation this week (living in San Diego I don't have to go far!!) and am doing the whole "you're on vacation....eat what you want" mentality. My fill is April 2nd and I'm praying that I get some restriction this time. Thanks for posting, Angie....it's nice to have some support and know that I'm not swimming alone!! Amy

Angie.. When I trained for a ran my marathon, my Enell bra was my saving grace!! I love that thing!! It may not give you shape, but the "sistas" are locked and loaded and don't move an inch. I just bought a new one for my next training season....worth every penny!! Good job and your training....keep it up!!

Sorry the corned beef didn't sit well, Patti. B-1/2 cup of ground turkey with salsa L- Atkins shake S- String cheese D- 1 cup tuna salad with l/f mayo and l/f shreeded cheese (melted....mmmm)

Cheers to ya Patti.. I actually had corned beef, cabbage and potatoes over the weekend. About 2 bites of each and it was delish!! I don't have any restriction so I could have had more, but MIRACULOUSLY I was satisfied with the small bites. I also wanted to save room (and calories) for a couple glasses of wine. I went to the gym both Sat and Sun and much to my delight my scale said I was down 2 pounds.....I'll take it!! Enjoy your dinner!! Today- b- 1/2 cup egg beaters with salsa l- Atkins Protein shake and one string cheese d- 1.5 cups of chicken stir fry

Don't get discouraged Becca...you are doing awesome!!! My scale has gone up and down more times than a freaking roller coaster!! I'm close to just chucking it out the window!!! You are probably right about the sodium. Did you have any alcohol? That's a sure fire way to up the numbers on the scale for me!! Perhaps TOM? I know it's sucks to see a gain but it's sure to be Water weight just fluctuating around in your new slimmer bod!! Keep doing what you're doing, give yourself a few days and I'm sure those numbers will dip again!! Happy Anniversay!! Amy

I bought a new pair of pants and blouse at Macy's instead of Lane Bryant!! I also walked into Macy's with confidence and an attitude of "yeah...I belong here" not intimidated and scared that people were looking at me like "you need to be at the fat girl's store". It was awesome!!

Abeaher.....you should print out Jachut's response and show it to your hubby!!! Cheers to you, Jachut!!!! Fortunately, my DH is not the band police. I enjoy a few glasses of wine on Saturday's and it hasn't slowed my weight loss at all. Hope you can get your hubby to back off a bit!!

marathinner replied to JaxBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have NO restriction and I figured I wouldn't with only 1cc at my first fill! Fortunately, I'm sticking to healthy eating and exercise and slooowwwly losing weight. My hunger always kicks in at night!! Looking forward to my fill on 4/2. -

Did you notice that Jillian mentioned they work out 6 hours a day?!! That's what bugs me about the show. It's unrealistic!! Who works out 6 hours a day?!! And I'm still bugged by the fact that they look way bigger than what the number on the scale says. Ok, done venting now. Still love watching the show. I'm a Dan Fan!!
