Hi I haven't decided on which surgery to take yet. It would help if you could tell me why you chose the sleeve over the popular lap band and gastric bypass. THANK YOU.

I want to do some working out everyday but always decide to stay in my bed. I know it is bad for me to be sedentary and inactive but yet everyday I decided to stay in bed. Becoming immobile, picturing my family blaming themselves for my death by obesity, developing a stroke or heart disease, or even ending up in a hospital bed does not motivate me. I have dreams, goals and even reasons for why I want lose weight but they are not strong enough to reach me and get me self motivated to get out of bed everyday and workout at least 30 minutes a day. I can't even motivate myself to do at least 5 minutes of exercise everyday. Not even rewarding myself motivates me. Nothing motivates me. How am I suppose to exercise when the drive to just lay in bed and watch tv is more overwhelming that I succumb to it every time.

I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me
RiskyGirl21 replied to RiskyGirl21's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I would like to thank everyone who replied to my thread. You inspired me to set a very easy to do goal for right now. Your advice shows me I can depend on Barictricpal whenever I need support or motivation. I am now on my way to becoming an active person. -
I am 21 years old and almost 500 pounds. My goal weight is to be 180 pounds one day. I plan on getting surgery soon but I am still trying to choose which one. Based on your experience what is your opinion on which surgery I should use. Give your reasons. Feel free to ask me for any additional information.

You are an inspiration to me and a great lap band success story. I was looking at gastric bypass patients to be the only ones who had to lose over 300 pounds but you show me that if I go with lap band that I can still lose all my pounds. Thank You. I wish you luck on you excess skin journey. -
Is anyone having success and enjoying their banded life?
RiskyGirl21 replied to Kitt3000's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I would like to thank everyone in this thread for being honest about their weight loss life after surgery. All your post have really reassured me and calmed me down on seeing some posts about people's negative effects after the surgery. What has really helped me is the posts telling about their weight loss success of over 100 pounds or close to 100 pounds because I need to lose over 200 pounds. -
300 pounds later....am I living a dream or is this in fact reality?
RiskyGirl21 replied to Jim1967's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Your story is actually a help to me. Like you I lost and gained back a lot of weight then joined a Lap band surgery. You give me kind of a realistic view of how I could be if I stick to things and not give up like you because I am almost 500 pounds just like you were. Thank You!!! -
Protect Your Bones – Why You Need Calcium and How to Get Enough
RiskyGirl21 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
My dietitian said that I should begin taking 1000 mg of Calcium Citrate daily since it is recommended following my bariatric procedure. The pills should be split into 2 500 mg doses. -
Lose Weight and Gain Confidence!
RiskyGirl21 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I am a shy person naturally, I admit that. I could have made friends in high school if I wasn't so ashamed of me weighing over 200 pounds. To me the only way I will ever be confident to get a life and make friends is if I lose all my weight and get to a lean and fit size. -
Learning How to Eat Slowly After Weight Loss Surgery
RiskyGirl21 replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
These are some great eating behavior modifications I can use. I am currently a fast eater. It literally takes about 10 minutes for me to finish a big plate full of food. My family always tells me to slow down and take my time but I never do. I am going to need to start now. -

I am going to The Community Health Center in Indiana and when they were telling us about the surgeries at the seminar they gave us a packet that gave in it a choice of two surgeons. One was a female and the other was male. Our first choice was the female since I am female too, but her availability was in contrast with my mom's work schedule, so we went with the male surgeon. Here is a picture of the surgeon and his name.
