post op weight fluctuations--anybody? --is it just me?!
QueenBeatrix posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I am 11 days out and I lost between 10-15 (I had to gain a little to get my BMI to 35) the first week. Then I went up 3 lbs and held it for 3 days no fluctuation and now I am back down 2.5 lbs. I just didn't think that there would be any weight fluctuations in the increase right after surgery, especially while still on fluids. I have a couple guesses: *Now I am consuming 60+ oz of fluids (before, I could only get about 48 oz) and 70 gm of Protein (before, I could barely get 40) *The body is weird and reacts to shock in weird and disturbing ways. *I need a new scale. Any other guesses? HELP!!!! QB -
post op weight fluctuations--anybody? --is it just me?!

Right, I have read about weight yourself too often. I am still in the first 3 weeks of post op liquid diet and I just am SO curious. I promised myself I would go to weekly once I was on soft foods--though may be a hard habit to wean. STILL, has anybody out there gain a little weight still in the first 2 weeks and on fluids??! QB -
Clear fluid ideas?
QueenBeatrix replied to QueenBeatrix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for your responses! I did try several of those and they helped. I called my doc on Monday and she let me off the Clear liquids 2 days early and I am such a happy camper being on "full" liquids. Yay! QB -
Does anybody out have any tasty or at least tolerable clear Fluid ideas out there. I came home from the hospital today and the next 5 days of clear fluids are looking bleak as I am trying to sip down some unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury with a splash of sugar free vanilla and raspberry syrup and a pinch of stevia. Not good. Thanks! QB

Worried about prescriptions - antidepressants
QueenBeatrix replied to DarleneCh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was worried about this also (I'm on Lexapro and Wellbutrin) because I had read about pausing meds for the surgery, but my surgeon said that he would never ask a patient to hold off on meds. Phew. My surgery is next week, so I can't testify for swallowing or crushing, but I was relieved to see the other posts that they were fine. QB -
'Twas the night before surgery . . .
QueenBeatrix posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is not until Dec. 10th (sleeve) but I am having anticipatory anxiety about anticipatory anxiety. I am more worried about coping with the day before surgery than the day after. I've read this is normal and I am relieved to know that. What I would like to know is: *What have people done the day and eve before surgery? *At what point of the whole pre surgery journey were they most nervous? I'm sure that there are emotional stages to go through--before and after. Any advice for how to get through the night before surgery? Thanks! QB -

Gastric Sleeve surgery booked for Dec.8/14 anyone else? Can we be friends?
QueenBeatrix replied to Flaxseed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm Dec. 10th! I am not currently on Facebook, but I will look into the private Dec. '14 sleevers Facebook page. I would love to hear about everyone's experiences and coping strategies. QB -
Bmi borderline
QueenBeatrix replied to Jacksmom91213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was under on my BMI and I weighed in with my shoes and coat on and my purse and a bag of books under my coat. The nurse knew that I was just doing this for the numbers on the paper work and didn't say anything. I am not necessarily recommending this, but it did work for me. -
Surgery Tomorrow, December 1st
QueenBeatrix replied to DENISE83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! You are doing it! My surgery is December 10th. I would love to hear about your experiences--even from the night before. If you feel up to it of course. QB -
Everyone who ever lost a pound thinks they know it all.
QueenBeatrix replied to Stevehud's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your story is unbelievable! I think it is boardering harrassment. I have the same problem with friends and family trying to talk me out of it and recommending all the things they have tried. I am so tired explaining why my body doesn't respond the same way as theirs etc and all the things I already tried. They think portion control and exercise is the answer. I am happy that works for them and wish that worked for me. I am so tired of repeatedly justifying and coming back with responses to all their suggestions. Some are mothers of my kids' friends, and maybe if I just had a good comeback, that might work. Family members and close friends are trickier because they really want to hash it out. "Thanks for loving me, but I am tired of defending my choice." I'd love some more advice about dealing with people who are sure they know what is best for me. QB -
For those with BMI 36 or lower, how much did you lose your first month pre-op
QueenBeatrix replied to Readytobeskinny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How has it gone for you? My surgery is scheduled for December 10th--so I am still thinking of it off in the distance--though I have started storing clear and liquid diet foods on a shelf I made for my in our pantry. I am just so curious what the experience is going to be like the first day and week. I know everyone is different, but it just feels that the morning of surgery is like jumping off the diving board. I did not have this much anticipatory anxiety getting married or being pregnant with twins. Ironically, I have had to gain weight to have this surgery--which is really bizarre. My BMI was around 33 and they wouldn't consider me until I was 35 BMI. I finally actually weighed in with my shoes and coat and my purse under my coat to get a BMI of 34.9, so now I am in. Now, instead of needing to loose 50-60 lbs, I need to loose 60-70. I imagine the most recently acquired lbs will come off the easiest. Anyways, I would love to hear from anyone who started with a lower BMI and how it has gone. [i don't know if having a lower BMI changes your experience.] How did you sleep the night before surgery? I am exited for this to finally happen and I see no livable alternative, but it seems like such a leap of faith. Thanks to anyone out there that is reading this. QueenBeatrix -
Hello, I have been on a roller coaster for if I will be able to get the sleeve surgery (funding). After many hoops, I have been approved and the nurse called me this morning to schedule surgery. It felt surreal. Now that it is REAL, I am nervous about my choice. When I look at the pros and cons on paper, there is no other logical choice. Is there someone out there with a BMI of 30-35 that can tell me that they have not looked back? {8-0 QB
