Worried about taking care of baby post op
kelseycakes20 replied to ****505 girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't speak from a personal view but my cousin who had her sleeve last summer also had a 2 year old son at the time and pretty much dealt with the same problems. She had her husband help with him more around the house because she was unable to lift him. She also did have him learn how to do things on his own like getting in the car seat and she would lower the crib and get a step stool for him to climb in it himself. I thought that was the smartest thing to do lol. And also put his step stool up to the changing table or just changed him on the floor or couch using a towel or something underneath him so nothing got anywhere. Whenever he hurt himself or was upset she would lay on the couch with him and hold him that way so she didn't have to pick him up and she just made sure he didn't hurt her stitches or anything. I hope everything goes well! If you have any more questions feel free to ask me and I'll see what my cousin did to handle it ???? When is your surgery? ???? -

I'm 5'1. 19 years old. Highest weight: 297 Current weight: 289 I'm pre op on the liquid diet, my surgery is scheduled for 11/18/14!!! ???? Goal weight: 130 I don't even know what pant size I am, I usually wear xl (tight) leggings and yoga pants. My prom dress in high school was a size 22. So I think by now I'd be a size 24. My shirts are xl and xxl. Can't wait to join the losers bench! As long as I could remember I've been overweight and I'm so excited to see what skinny and healthy feels like! -

Yay congrats! ???? I'm freaking out already and I'm only on the 18th! Good luck, you will do great ???? -
I'm officially starting my liquid diet tomorrow on the 1st, my surgery is Nov 18! I am just absolutely terrified that I will not be able to stick with it though. I have started a little early with liquid for breakfast and lunch and then having a small dinner. Any suggestions on how to better myself on sticking with it? My surgeon said to do 3 protein shakes a day, 1 for breakfast lunch and dinner and then a yogurt after breakfast for a snack and a broth after lunch. What have your surgeons suggested for the liquid diet? I feel like mine is veeerrryy limited and I've heard that other surgeons will allow some other things. All comments and suggestions are extremely appreciated! ????
-
No I don't. I've noticed that some surgeons say different when it comes to the pre op diet. Some will let you have a small healthy meal and some say to follow only liquids strictly. I'm not sure why but I guess its best to just stick with what your surgeon or nurses say, they're the experts haha
-
Yeah for right now I'm sticking to my premier protein shakes, they are the best tasting ones to me lol I'm going to pick some fruity ones from unjury and see what else I can get. Thank you!
-
Yeah the first day hasn't been too bad but I have a feeling the next few days are going to be a bit harder but I'm hoping it does get easier. Definitely! Like twice today I thought about having a small bite of something healthy like salad or boiled chicken and I was able to talk myself out of it saying that I don't need to do it. It'll be worth it in the end ????

Good point! Thank you ???? hope you're doing well! How do you feel?

Hello all! I'm new onto this site and thought it would be nice to say hi to everyone and I do have a few questions. Well a little about myself: My name is Kelsey. I'm 19 years old. Having my gastric sleeve surgery on the 11/18/2014. I live in OC Cali. I am appx 5'1 and 295lbs. My goal is to be 130lbs and a size 9 My surgeon told me to start my liquid diet on the 1st of this November but I'm looking to start it a little early. He told me that all I'll be eating is 3 Protein shakes for Breakfast lunch and dinner and then a yogurt in between breakfast and lunch and then a broth in between lunch and dinner. But I've heard other doctors will let people have some food. Did anyone strictly follow just liquids? If your surgeon said you were able to have food, did it have an impact on if your liver shrank small enough for the surgery to be done without complications? I know the standard for post op surgery is 3-4 weeks on liquids and then 3-4 weeks of pureed food and then slowly go into eating regular food again. Did anyone stay on the liquid or pureed diet for longer? Maybe 6-7 weeks? I've heard of people doing both. Thank you guys!

Thank you so much! ???? -
I know its so hard when there aren't that many options to have. But of course we have to stick to it ???? thank you and good luck to you as well!
-
Did you mean premier? Lol I've never heard of primer. Premier is deeeffinitely my favorite, I love those. Yeah I did find that if I went too long without drinking a protein shake or water I was craving all the food I shouldn't be having. I'll have to check those out, sounds yummy! That is also a good idea, I don't watch much tv either unless you count Netflix hahaha but they don't have commercials so I don't have to worry about the food commercials lol. Thank you so much! ????
-
Ohh nice, congrats on your surgery date!
-
Haha I've never done straight liquids either unless it was the flu as well! That's so much different, its like you don't want to eat anyways because it'll get you sick lol. Yeah most definitely! I haven't been able to figure out how to add people but feel free to DM me at anytime ???? I'm hoping this weekend is easy for the most part, its just hard juggling work and school with all that's going on with the surgery as well haha

When I asked my surgeon he said that I should take the 6 weeks off and fill out the EDD form. I'm only a cashier at sears but I do a lot of lifting because I work in the hardware department. I guess you can base it on how you feel, everyone is different. I've talked to some people who said 6 weeks was not enough and then some people say they could go back in 2-4 weeks

You and me both! Ohhh very nice haha we have not even had winter weather yet here in california. Still summer basically. I just got rid of all my bigger clothes, kept a few things that fit me now and I have my closet stocked full of clothes that are yet to fit me
