I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

Hey there everyone! My name is Kelsey, I'm 20 years old. I had my sleeve down at 19 yrs old on November 18. I'll be 6 months out TOMORROW and almost 90lbs down from surgery! From about a size 26, down to a size 16. 10 sizes dropped! From size 3xl shirts to size L. I started at 300lbs, and as of this morning, I am 211! Best decision of my life, even at a young age! I would go back and do it all over again in a heartbeat.

    My progress, 7 weeks out!

    Thank you so much! ????
  4. I'm 19 yrs old and have been considering surgery since I was about 17 since I've dealt with obesity literally my whole life. My surgery was Nov 18, 2014. I started at 298 and am now at 254! Only 7 weeks out of surgery but have seen a huge difference in how I look! 5 days preop I was probably around 295lbs. 2.5 weeks was around 271lbs. 1 month post op I was stuck in a little stall at around 260. It's so funny that I look in the mirror every day and always tell myself that I don't see any changes and feel upset and then I actually look at the pics I took right before surgery and how much I've changed. Literally puts me in tears! Of course I'm still in progress, my goal is to be about 120, I'm hoping that happens! I'm really short, 5'1 so technically that's pushing almost still being overweight lol. I can't wait to be a year out and look as great as all of you guys! Everyone here is such an inspiration ????

    My progress, 7 weeks out!

Everyone has those thoughts but don't worry!! The chances of that happening are very slim. Think of all the positive things that come after the surgery and it'll get you through those bad thoughts. I'm positive everything will be fine ????

You're welcome ???? Awesome! Are you excited?
  7. I did make a seperate instagram for my weight loss surgery journey and have already met some really awesome people, found a lot of people close to me! There's a huuuuge wls community and doesn't matter which surgery you've had, we're all in this together! I hate to say that I'm an Instaholic and use that muuucchhh more than I use BariatricPal only because this app has seem to not work as well for me. I post almost daily, sometimes multiple pics daily on Instagram and I LOOOVVE to follow and see other people's progress on it. My Instaname is Kelsey.vsg20 If you follow, I'll follow back!

    WLS Instagram!

My WLS Instagram has only a few people I actually know and the rest are WLS people. I didn't tell many friends that I did the surgery so that's what I mean by seperate. Instagram is the only social media I have so it's not connected to anything.

    My progress, 7 weeks out!

No complications at all, surgery itself only took like 30-45 minutes before I was put in my recovery room. I was out of the hospital the next afternoon. Within two weeks of surgery I felt like a brand new person. No problems with food or anything.

    My progress, 7 weeks out!

Thank you!! I know I feel the same way! For the past two years I was going back and forth on the idea. Thought I could lose the weight myself and keep it off but every 10lbs lost I gained 20lbs back. I knew if I waited too long to do the surgery than I would've kept gaining and gaining. So happy to have my sleeve!

    Dying hair?

So I've heard it both ways. Some people say its not good to dye your hair before surgery and I've heard that some people dyed their hair the day before surgery. I asked my best friend who is a nurse and said that she has never heard of why it would be harmful if I do dye my hair. She says to go for it, why not. Did anyone dye their hair before surgery? I have surgery on Tuesday and wanted to dye my hair tonight or maybe tomorrow if its safe to do it.

    Coffeeee

I know we're not allowed to have caffeinated coffee, but how long after surgery did you wait to have DECAF coffee? I'm dying for a cup of coffee and decaf is good enough for me, but I'm only just over a week post op and I don't know if the coffee is okay for my little pouch yet

How fast do you drink your liquids?

I think I drink faster than I should, I'm almost 2 weeks post op and I feel like liquids run right through me. But the minute I have some yogurt or something a little more dense, I get full faster. I can take like 3 good size sips of my water and be fine but sometimes that 4th one will fill me up. I've totally forgotten about my surgery already and poured a small glass of milk (like maybe 4-5 sips) and chugged the whole thing and was in a little pain for drinking so much so fast but it passed within about 1-2 minutes and I was fine I don't think we're the only ones who can have a huge sip though! My cousin could after her surgery ????

    New here :)

I'm surprised blue cross didn't approve it, I have blue cross ppo and had no problems. If your new primary care physician is still against it, go to the hospital you want to have your surgery at, go to their bariatric program and ask them to refer you to any of their primary care physicians that they recommend. They usually work along side some that are all for the surgery. That's what I did and had absolutely no problems regarding that. Tips for the process, stay on top of the scheduling for all appts and when it comes time to get your insurance approval, stay on top of that asking if its been processed and what not. Sometimes they lack in getting things done, it depends on the insurance. Your insurance will look at the qualifications to get approved for the surgery, there's technically not much you could do except fight it if they deny you lol. I had mine done the 18th of November so I'm almost 2 weeks out. I have had no complications, very little pain, no gas pains, and have been feeling totally normal again, like where I can go out and walk a lot and do stuff instead of having a hard time getting around. I maybe had a little regret like my first full day home because I didn't have my pain meds but that was my own fault lol the regret didn't last long and its totally normal to feel that little regret just getting out of surgery haha I have to say healing is different for everyone and I've noticed that age sometimes has a factor in it too. I'm one of the younger wls patients, 19 years old lol but I've also seen a few older patients that I know personally have a very easy recovery like mine. Good luck and keep us posted!!

    Dying hair?

Really? They said after is totally fine and what not. I know many people who has had their hair done about 2 months after surgery. I got to do mine the night before so I don't have to worry about it for a while haha ????

    Coffeeee

They actually didn't say anything about decaffeine haha only caffeine. Have been sipping my first cup of coffee in a looooong time. I quit caffeine about 3-4 weeks before surgery and just stayed away from coffee since then as well. Definitely enjoying this! Lol ????
  24. Hello everyone! I'm looking for some buddies to connect with! I live in la habra ca. I am able to drive farther if needed since I already go to support meetings for wls all the way in fountain valley every week! I'm also wondering if there is anyone around my age doing the surgery as well? I am 19 years old, just thought I would ask. I am more than happy to connect with absolutely anyone. I have my sleeve scheduled for Nov 18!
