I was off 1 1/2 weeks. The surgery was nothing. In fact, when the surgeon came in to see me the following morning, I accused her of not doing anything to me. I felt no pain what so ever. (I had the sleeve). The only side affect I had was, I was tired. But that has to do with any type of surgery. I do have a desk job, so that did make it easier. I felt guilty taking any more time off knowing I didn't need it.

I am 59 and had the sleeve on Oct, 9th. I am 17 lbs down since surgery. For the most part, this has been easy. Although I did have a few pity parties. HINT: don't go to the movies lol the smell of hot buttered popcorn really set me off. Made me really crave food. Yes, there were a couple of days that i was sorry I had the surgery. But the pity party is over and 3 weeks later, I am happy I had it. I could picture myself past the water stage. Well, guess what, I got past it and have one week to go on puree foods, Thursday I will be able to start soft foods. Then, 2 weeks past that, I will be on regular foods. Trust me, it does get better….and look at these post. Hundreds of people had w l s and got past the hardest part. If they did it,,we can also. I drink Premeir Protein. I like it. I found I actually crave it. As a bonus, you can heat the chocolate one up and have hot chocolate. Perfect for this time of year. i am having one now. Its a great way to help get your protein in. Good Luck and remember, you can do this.

Coming Out of the Weight Loss Surgery Closet: What, Whether, Why, and How
Elaine Sunday replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I didn't tell people for a long time that I was going to have the surgery (sleeve). I felt like a failure to have to resort to surgery to lose weight. My surgeon and 2 other medical drs have explained to me that my body has lost the ability to lose weight, no matter what I did. Also being on insulin made it just about impossible to lose. It wasn't until right before surgery that I felt ok to finally talk about it. Last night, I went to my sisters house, gave all the kids a mini cake for Halloween. My 13 yr old niece ate her cake, made a sandwich, ate that, then fixed mac and cheese, All within 45 minutes. I joked with her and said, woow watch out or You will need was. She looked at me and said, "well, I am sure I will have more motivation then you did." Well that was a slap in my face. I get it, she is only 13 and don't know what its like, but made me think that thats how society will see me. Not a happy thought. -

Thanks Chelle, guess I am worried about being deprived for the rest of my life. It isn't helping with the holidays coming soon. My step daughter commented today saying, oh man, what are you going to do for Thanksgiving? Guess it will be turkey and cauliflower mashed potatoes -

Had my surgery on Oct 9th. I am down 15 lbs since surgery. I have a lot of pity party days. Anyone wanna join? I am sure things will get better. I puree Soups and have found I am craving spices, so I am adding garlic powder and black pepper. makes me have the feeling that I am having "real" food. I also am having hunger attacks and stomach growling. I have been told its all in my mind. BS its in my stomach…or what is left of my stomach. -

Weight Loss Surgery: The Easy Way Out?
Elaine Sunday replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Pink, thank you for the words of encouragement. I know I need to get off the pity party band wagon. Hopefully when I could start eating real food I will be much happier about this. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I am losing weight, just wish I didn't have to go to such extreme measures to do it, but weight watchers and other "diets" never worked for me. There was no other option left but wls. -

I had the sleeve Oct 9th. Down 15 lbs since surgery. Hardest part for me right now is the pitty party thinking I can no longer have most foods. I love to cook and love to eat. Now I have to find away around that. But it will happen. -
COME TO MY PITY PARTY!
Elaine Sunday replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Thank you so much for this article. I had surgery Oct 9th and have already had several putty parties. Glad to see this is normal. Right now, instead of focusing on the weightless, all I can see is I will never be able to have spaghetti or a buritto again. Seems like everyday I am stressing over this. -

Weight Loss Surgery: The Easy Way Out?
Elaine Sunday replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I had was on October 9th. I am ashamed to admit, I always thought it was the easy way out. Let me tell you, this has been one of the hardest and emotional things I have ever done. The stress was enough for me to almost cancel out. I am glad I am losing weight, but this was and is not easy for me. I love to cook, love to eat. My passions have been taking away from me. But in order to get rid of my diabetes I had to do this. I know I will be healthier in the long run. This is not the easy way out.
